Ahh, console video games (or vidcons as I call them). the ultimate medium of expression, able to convey any emotion ranging from hatred to love, loyalty to fear, all in front of our eyes. Ah, and with lovingly crafted art, music, and the ability to control the action, vidcons are the ultimate combination of the high arts. While I tend to play the stoic, I will be the first to admit that vidcons haven driven me to cry, to scream and shout, to feel actual hate; such is the power of this force beyond our wildest reckoning. And here I am, before you, to temp your tongues with the taint of such a tantalizing topic.

And the Japanese, the true geniuses behind the world of video games. Pah, I throw my scorn upon such incompetents of the West who would mock the true art of the Japanese with 'games' such as Baldur's Gate and Madden. Perhaps it is that the West is not as intelligent as the East, but this is a matter for another day. Japan has given us such masterpieces as the Final Fantasy series, Star Ocean, Wild Arms, and of course, Arc the Lad. Yes, some of the finest vidcons in the world were created by Japanese. I come to you today to ask you in all earnesty, what is your favorite vidcon? I will reveal mine after the grand debate has illustriously begun, but not before the first poster falls victim to my plot of discussion.

In other words, this is a thread on an imaginary forum our avatars frequent. The topic can fluctuate, and its mostly just general discussion.

Good news - we're done with the testing phase of the transit system much sooner than we were expecting! The filtering portals still need some development, but as long as the card system works fine, travel should be safe.
We're also working on a cargo system to run in parallel, because we expect that people will want to start trading between universes. That system will probably take less time to implement, since we already have a bit of experience with logistics, but yeah.
Anyways, next up would be legal stuff like where the station would go and what features it has. Who would have time to talk this out in person and where?

Hold up, what about import fees? You know, if you let civilizations trade freely, they will wreck each others' economies.

That's true.. will probably handle that on a case-by-case basis.

Going to a nearby lake to see if the rain drew out any rare Pokemon for me to observe. When it's raining it does attract Pokemon that usually only come out during such weather.

That's interesting. Here right now it's quite sunny in contrast to the rain at your place.

Ah, you must be this "Icarus" fellow. Am I correct?

Yes, Lord Hades, that is him.

Oh, good! I've been meaning to talk to you, Icarus!
Anyhow, I am Hades, the Lord of the Underworld. From what I understand, you made a deal with some people from my homeworld (one of them being my brother Zeus, the other being a half-blood that I currently do not know the identity of) to connect us to an interversal transit system. Is that so? If yes, then I would be interested in this project.

Anyways, next up would be legal stuff like where the station would go and what features it has. Who would have time to talk this out in person and where?

   Yes, about that...
While I am all for having us connected to your transport system, I would not be happy with the station being at Camp Half-Blood itself. Such a thing would draw too much attention to the camp. Instead, I was wondering if you can set up some new stattion? Hermes contacted me about some other places where you could put it.

[1] Sure, we can still change the station's position. Wouldn't it draw attention anywhere, though, no matter where we place it? If so, I would still propose Camp Half-Blood, unless you or Hermes have better ideas. Where and when should we meet?

It's probably the time of year, if I had to guess. Summer semester started last week, so I'm a lot busier, dunno about the others

You are correct, Icarus, in that it would attract attention anywhere. It's just that I am worried about that attention also going to Camp Half-Blood too.
See, the camp is supposed to be a safe haven where young half-bloods can hide from their foes and train to defend themselves. Putting something that's more or less a beacon there would be, to say the very least, counterproductive.

Where and when should we meet?

If you want to meet, Central Park in New York City works for me. As for when, I am available any day after the 27th of April.

[1] As of now, we don't know at what rates people will flow to the portals - we do have some portals in place in two specific universes that we're currently serving, and traffic is modest. But besides that, I have no idea what universes are going to be the most visited ones, so who knows if there will be a central station, and if so, which one. I suspect not.

[2] Getting all the chemistry just right. The identity bonding processes at play are about as complex as the fine biological reactions of an immune system, and making sure that the portal doesn't actually destroy any organic tissue or disrupt biochemistry is quite difficult.
Right now, the plan for the chamber is to first perform a scanning pass on the user to detect chunks of matter that are likely to decay. If the high-degree matter makes up more than 5% of the user, the chamber will refuse to transport; if it's more than 2%, the chamber should present the user a graph of that high-degree matter and give them a choice of whether they will get transported or not. Once that's done, the chamber will transport any matter with a sufficiently low degree.

I mean if you wished to get a rough idea of traffic flow between universes you could simply setup a camera within the universal hub though there is the minor problem that the universes within the hub have already been interlinked for centuries and traffic as a result has grown to encompass even mundane every day trips.

I look to the stars... but that's mostly because there isn't anything else interesting

That would be great, daily traffic is something that I would want the system to handle! If you have any direct throughput numbers (arrivals, departures per time of day and origin universe), that would be appreciated.
On that note, maybe instead of reinventing the wheel, I could integrate more into your systems? Can you tell me about the interversal transit system that your homeworld has?

Sadly I Don't personally have such data I never quite thought such information was that important given the hub is a near daily thoroughfare for many though Tesh might have the data given she oversees internal security. I'll send her a request for such data or to collect it... how long would you want such a observation to run for?

As for integration that would be a tad difficult given Gates which comprise the connections work upon different principles though security and rating concerns would be no matter on account of my children and Tesh.

Strange, I would've expected analytics to be drawn fron the Hub particularly because it's a central location, but alright. Er, do you have something compared to a seven-day week cycle?
As for integration... if you use a different system, we'll definitely have to talk about how to integrate EV's transit system into your hub. For the first couple of years it'll probably just be treated as a novelty and an attraction for your spare time - maybe it'll develop into something more serious in the future (I hope so, anyways), so we'll definitely have to reassess things.

Another day, another stranger asking if I’m even human. I get where they’re coming from: I wear my hair in a ponytail that mimics Zoroark (I’ve done it since childhood, it’s habit now), I can talk to Pokemon (I was raised by them until I was 7, what did you expect?), and I act somewhat oddly (that would be the neurodivergence and/or years of abuse). But it still hurts. Ghetsis used to call me “a freak without a human heart”. I can’t help but be reminded of that every time someone questions my humanity.

My father was also quite abusive to me as well, wanting to train me to become the #1 hero but resorting to horrible methods that ended up doing horrible damage to our family as a whole. He eventually realized the damage he did and is trying to make up now for what he did and becoming a better person, but I have yet to decide whether to forgive him or not. From your description of the man who raised you, though, it looks like my father is a saint compared to him.
