Ahh, console video games (or vidcons as I call them). the ultimate medium of expression, able to convey any emotion ranging from hatred to love, loyalty to fear, all in front of our eyes. Ah, and with lovingly crafted art, music, and the ability to control the action, vidcons are the ultimate combination of the high arts. While I tend to play the stoic, I will be the first to admit that vidcons haven driven me to cry, to scream and shout, to feel actual hate; such is the power of this force beyond our wildest reckoning. And here I am, before you, to temp your tongues with the taint of such a tantalizing topic.

And the Japanese, the true geniuses behind the world of video games. Pah, I throw my scorn upon such incompetents of the West who would mock the true art of the Japanese with 'games' such as Baldur's Gate and Madden. Perhaps it is that the West is not as intelligent as the East, but this is a matter for another day. Japan has given us such masterpieces as the Final Fantasy series, Star Ocean, Wild Arms, and of course, Arc the Lad. Yes, some of the finest vidcons in the world were created by Japanese. I come to you today to ask you in all earnesty, what is your favorite vidcon? I will reveal mine after the grand debate has illustriously begun, but not before the first poster falls victim to my plot of discussion.

In other words, this is a thread on an imaginary forum our avatars frequent. The topic can fluctuate, and its mostly just general discussion.

Wdym? I didn't really have anything planned. Best I got is that maybe we have to delay the museum visit even further until this weekend, because none of my colleagues, including my brother, have time during the week. That fine?

Huh?

No, wait. When I said "something for [your] Monday morning," I didn't mean "something else that will keep you busy on Monday." I meant "maybe this post will be something that you will read on Monday."

Sorry for the confusion.

[2]

Yeah, I had to remove my info dump on Florentia's system because it was one of those awkward "thread killer" posts. I never realized that I failed to read the room, so I promise I won't make egregious posts like that again without proper build up.

(OOC: I don't think you posted a "thread killer" yesterday. Honestly, the weekend in general was just a slow couple of days for posts here. In my opinion, your post had a perfectly good build-up to it; people asked the Dolls about their homeworld, and the Dolls posted about their homeworld.)

[1] Oh, got it! No problem, thanks for the story.

By the way, new date for the museum visit - this Saturday, 10 AM. If this doesn't work out, I don't know what will.
My colleague suggested bringing Tesla coils if the queues turn out to be too long.
I think he'd get along well with the Castle.

[2] I recall you posting astronomic data yesterday, and I think one of my questions kinda got buried. Do you do stuff like orbital mechanics, the Doppler effect or heat radiation in class yet or is that material for a future course?

[3] Hi. I'm not sure if I should be helping you with that, honestly.

Saturday... That's the 22nd of April, yes? That day works for us.

(OOC: If you mean 10AM in Germany, then I'll be asleep. If you mean 10AM in GMT, then I'll also be asleep. However, if you mean 10AM in Quebec & Ontario would work for me as I'll be done my morning routine by then.)

(OOC 2: Never mind. You said it'll be implied instead of roleplayed, yes? In which case timezone doesn't matter.)

Ha! But what makes you think of the Castle when talking about your colleague?

Well, Tesla coils as a means of... getting past a queue more quickly... isn't exactly ethical, and that's kinda a theme of the Castle, isn't it?

10AM in Germany. I don't expect you to be awake by then - as I said somewhere in the past (can't blame you if you forgot), I don't wanna RP this. Instead, I can give you pics of the exhibits we've visited afterwards

I do have an update on the transit system! There's now a stream of a testing site where we test the fine maneuvering of various vessels, as well as docking and recharging. It's not exactly spectacular, but feel free to come and watch!
Besides that, a designer on the crew turned out to be a massive nerd and made one of the docking modules look like a TARDIS, and the rest of the crew decided to Throw It In!. So now, if you're sitting at a multiverse port and looking up to the sky, instead of a docking module, you might see a blue telephone box descending.

The testing site has four docks located at different positions. There are camera feeds in the stream showing what those docks look like from the universes that they connect. There's lots of funnels and guiderails to push the docking module into the right position, which itself has lots of spring-loaded wheels, just like what you'd expect to see on a station for a cable car.

Similarly, you said the date was "Roselia 16" in your old post. Do you have your own system of months, too?

Also, it seems like you don't have a lot of information on what you call "Lost Earth" where you live, would you be interested in us sharing general information with you? It can be through PMs or in this thread.

My version of earth and Alabaster's version are different, but by comparing our histories, we think we can get a picture of a "Baseline Earth" like the one your world may have had.

(OOC: Hmm. Would you be comfortable with having a Sandbox page or a DarthWiki.Unpublished Works page to share the stuff you are willing to make public? Because navigating through this thread to gather information on one setting is slightly inconvenient.)

music rating time! we didn't have enough songs so i dmed stefan for some. boy he sure loves edm
and some fox steven guy who's totally us from an alternate universe cause his lyrics are awesome
anyways

[1] link works now! never heard that story before. also, about the lyre
do you just
casually play that?
i mean it sounds like the kind of instrument that would put you to sleep, no offense. didn't even attract that many silences

[2] you managed to get quaver to improvise to the song. lyrically, i would've never come up with the idea to sing with a voice that raspy
half the lyrics themselves are unintelligible. i believe the lyrics are about something else than personal problems? they're a bit hammy, but they could definitely give me some necessary inspiration. still decent

[3] gotta agree with the announcer in that i have no idea what's going on with the song. half the instruments are probably synthetic, that background treble at times is an interesting musical choice, but it somehow makes the song work
overall pretty neat

among the few songs that stefan offered which weren't edm was this. which... okay? who is this producer and how does he come up with the idea to put an orchestral piece into an EDM album?????
same verdict as venti's. i... kinda get it? it's good at bringing a melody across, but not really intense. i prefer intense

anyways did i miss something important while i was fending off silences?

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bridget_icon_575490809_9.png There isn't a whole lot of what we know of our ancestor's home, but we do know from research notes is that, in the year 2143 on Earth, our ancestors embarked on the most ambitious mission to travel beyond the Solar System called the Grand Expedition. Four self-sustaining generation ships were built in orbit, each sent on the same trajectory towards a planet called TRAPPIST-1 e, but of course, they didn't reach their destination and drifted for thousands of years until they reached Florentia by pure luck.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/naomi_icon_62642189_2.png Beyond that, we only have scattered dates of some events that happened on Earth. One particular date that comes up a lot is 2020, which is described as the year of the "pandemic", whatever that is. We archaeologists and historians speculate that humanity was nearly wiped out to extinction by some deadly virus. If true, we're really lucky to have survived that, since dates after the "pandemic" tell us humanity was thriving again.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/alice_icon_25474308_2.png Human history is so facisnating.

I considered making an Unpublished Works page about my novel's setting and lore, but ultimately decided against it per the concerns raised by Cardboard Bot and a few others on this thread since I don't want to make an unfinished work available to the public yet. Yes, I've heard so.

Which is why we thought about helping you. Alabaster and I figured that, by pulling together what things our respective versions of Earth have in common, we could tell you what human history was like on Earth!

Yes. I should also note that Tarvek and I lurked through this thread to figure out what things most likely existed on your Earth that we also have here.

That's right! We're pretty sure (89%) that your "Lost Earth" had the Greeks, the Romans, the Egyptians, the Israelites, the Chinese, and the Japanese, just like our Earth did!

I considered making an Unpublished Works page about my novel's setting and lore, but ultimately decided against it per the concerns raised by Cardboard Bot and a few others on this thread since I don't want to make an unfinished work available to the public yet.
