This is a thread where, as the title implies, our avatars (from our galleries) are posting in an in-universe forum thread. You can drop in any time with pretty much any character you want, whether from existing works or your own OCs. Though most of it is done through forum posts, some "in-person" interactions between characters is also fine.
Even if this is a more casual RP, there are still some rules and general RP etiquette to keep in mind for everyone to have a good time and feel comfortable:
- NO GODMODDING. Godmodding is when you decide what happens to another player's character, and is generally frowned upon. In particular, avoid injuring and especially killing someone else's character; fighting is ok but let the other player decide if the hit connects. If your plot idea requires something to happen to a different player's character, you'll want to privately discuss this with them and if they're ok with that. This includes in-universe moderation.
- Be nice and respect other players' boundaries. Your character being mean or a jerk is one thing, but if someone gets uncomfortable about your behavior towards their characters, knock it off. Also do not force others into your story arcs; in general it would be a good idea to ask the other person first if they are interested, and plan it together if they are.
- If you have anything to say, ask about, ect. that is not part of the RP, you can put it under a spoiler tag [[spoiler: like this]]
- While almost any character is welcome, please avoid playing any real-life person who's mainly associated with controversies, drama and problematic behavior. We don't need that here.
- Have fun!
Ahh, console video games (or vidcons as I call them). the ultimate medium of expression, able to convey any emotion ranging from hatred to love, loyalty to fear, all in front of our eyes. Ah, and with lovingly crafted art, music, and the ability to control the action, vidcons are the ultimate combination of the high arts. While I tend to play the stoic, I will be the first to admit that vidcons haven driven me to cry, to scream and shout, to feel actual hate; such is the power of this force beyond our wildest reckoning. And here I am, before you, to temp your tongues with the taint of such a tantalizing topic.
And the Japanese, the true geniuses behind the world of video games. Pah, I throw my scorn upon such incompetents of the West who would mock the true art of the Japanese with 'games' such as Baldur's Gate and Madden. Perhaps it is that the West is not as intelligent as the East, but this is a matter for another day. Japan has given us such masterpieces as the Final Fantasy series, Star Ocean, Wild Arms, and of course, Arc the Lad. Yes, some of the finest vidcons in the world were created by Japanese. I come to you today to ask you in all earnesty, what is your favorite vidcon? I will reveal mine after the grand debate has illustriously begun, but not before the first poster falls victim to my plot of discussion.
In other words, this is a thread on an imaginary forum our avatars frequent. The topic can fluctuate, and its mostly just general discussion.

Well first of all, we predate you little fleshies by about... millions of years. In fact I myself am older than human civilization by quite the big margin. War started about nine million years ago and I was there for it. If anything humans copied us.
Should my liege figure out interdimensional travel, I'll remember this compliment.
Sorry, nine million? And you've been at war for all that time? At this point, how do you even remember what it is that you're fighting over?
I'm not even surprised that you've been around that long — mostly that you've been at war for that long.

Timescales of that magnitude are too complex for any humans to grasp. Really, it would make sense that only machine-based life could comprehend the passage of time that far.
It's like they've been here long before us, and they'll be here long after we're gone.
I feel even more insignificant now. By the way, anyone planning to visit a music concert sometime in the next few weeks or so? My brother Piers and I are gonna perform at a music concert sometime next week.

That sounds awesome!
Which type of music you're playing there?
You’re definitely someone worse than the Lunarians.
I really need to keep an eye on you.
To be honest, I’m not sure where the Raptures came from…
Us Nikkes go up onto the surface to only fight them off, so we don’t have the time to go stargazing sadly…
Yep!

I guess some alternative metal and rock. We're still picking out the songs for the concert though.
Well, it's great to see that you're actually performing soon. Let us know how it goes.

That's an excellent choice of tunes!
We wish you luck at the concert!

So humans in your world are trapped underground because of these Rapture machines... To feel the wind rippling on your skin, basking under the warm glow of the sun, is one of life's simplest pleasures. It's terrible that some might not get the chance to experience it.
This might not mean much, but as a fellow soldier, I'll be rooting for you Nikkes!
Nothing seems to have changed. But perhaps one day it will.![]()

Thanks, I really appreciate it! By the way, one of those record labels I was following finally just released a cover for the 5th installment in one of their sound-design action-thriller trailer music albums, after a few months of nothing but orchestral albums or swaggery, upbeat guitar and percussion albums. I'm just hoping it's at least 20 tracks or more (not even asking for 30 tracks or more anymore) because the last one they did 2 years ago had only 17 tracks, which is not enough, in my opinion.
That sounds interesting. Maybe they think 17 tracks is satisfactory for such an album already?
A lot of albums I listen to actually have less then 15 tracks, but those are mostly hip-hop and pop albums, so I'm not really sure how trailer music albums are different.

Thank you for the positivity!

Like the other human said, living that long is pretty normal for us so time isn't an issue when it comes to memory. Though admittedly cons that were forged after the start tend to forget we started this whole thing to overthrow the caste system. I think "Lord" Galvatron forgot too honestly.
Anyway, yeah. Our war is so protracted that it makes any human conflict look like skirmishes or tiffs. Why, one battle alone raged for entire generations. Admittedly said battle was probably one of the biggest. The Simanzi Campaign, or the Simanzi Massacre as the Autobots call it. About... half our species was killed in the whole thing, 99% of the planet fell into Decepticon hands and you couldn't step on the southern hemisphere of Cybertron for stellar cycles (or years as you humans call them) unless you wanted your feet to melt from the superheated surface.
Personally not my favorite part of the war, massacring bots who don't pose much of a threat gets boring. Did get to fight Optimus Prime though which was fun, ended up finding out how the inside of my head looks like. Guy was ruthless whenever he was heading for Megatron.

I'll take it as a compliment... whatever or whoever you are.
Oh, right, I haven't been on this thread since forever. Probably best if I do another introduction.
My name is SCW. I'm a Tactical Doll affiliated with Griffin & Kryuger Security Firm... or what's left of it, anyway. My favorite thing is to lay down on a grassy field somewhere and watch birds flutter across the sky!

Mankind over here has sent telescopes into space before - there's the James Webb telescope
around Lagrange point 2, for instance. Maybe that's still usable? If not, I've got a heap of tasks to work through, but I'm sure some EV folks could help.
Reminds me of an anecdote... After Yellowstone erupting and wreaking havoc in my homeworld's Earth, for a decent while, our explorer robot models had barely any sensors, which basically meant sensory deprivation for everyone. Once the first models came out that did have the proper sensors installed, most people perceived the sensations as way too intense, and the engineers had to artificially tone down the sensor outputs. Not a fun time for anyone involved, or so I was told. Thankfully, I never had to experience that.

Nine million years at war, eh... you Decepticons sure are good at economics.
Wow, Griffin & Kryuger is a name I haven't heard in a while. What happened to that company, some kinda scandal?

If it disagrees with experiment, it's wrong.![]()
If being labeled as terrorists by the state counts as scandal, yeah, but at least we got the pardoned a while back.
I don't know if this made news yet, but our HQ in western Russia was hit by rebel forces. Barely anyone made it out. I didn't. Turns out it's kinda hard to dodge sustained gatling gun fire.
Oof, I can relate. My current body had sensitivity problems too. It's hard to work when my eyes treat light bulbs like the sun.
So what do you do when you're not fighting? I'd imagine you picked up some hobbies, at least to kill time between all those lulls.

So, how are you still here to tell the tale? Did you get replacement parts?
You do origami??? ...That's a surprise to me, honestly.
It’s time to crash into Mega Monkey and Mojo Jojo’s wedding! Now who’s with me?
Like that's so totally awesome!
Oh, cute costumes! We're with you all the way!

Ah, so pretty much what my kind does.
Out of technical curiosity, and because 0x just poked me about it, what kind of RAID security level
does your doll database employ? If that's confidential, no need to tell me. For comparison, my kind uses RAID 60
, because... well, my kind extensively relies on brain backups

Currently got my hands full with an architecture project and a redesign for an organics-safe portal chamber, so no thanks. Stefan? Super Sheriff?
I'm sick, and also, what the heck? I'm not doing a military operation against a target that I barely know.
same. also don't wanna overrely on you icarus

"Tactical Doll" is basically synonymous with "combat robot", with the addition that most dolls look similar to human females. Correct me if I'm wrong or missing something, though

Well, what do Tactical Dolls fight against?

A pleasure to meet you, SCW! I am Tarvek Sturmvoraus, Prince of Sturmhalten. My friend here is Gilgamesh Wulfenbach, whom you may call "Gil." It sounds like you've posted this thread before we joined here.
So, what's this "Griffin & Kryuger Security Firm" you work with? From your words, it sounds like a sort of mercenary company. What happened for you to be labeled terrorists?
Not Tropeworthy: Evil Redhead

Perhaps so, but I haven't seen the films in a while, so I might have to check again.
Don't his movies have a lot of explosions, slow-motion sequences and lens flares?
Yeah, pretty much.
