Ahh, console video games (or vidcons as I call them). the ultimate medium of expression, able to convey any emotion ranging from hatred to love, loyalty to fear, all in front of our eyes. Ah, and with lovingly crafted art, music, and the ability to control the action, vidcons are the ultimate combination of the high arts. While I tend to play the stoic, I will be the first to admit that vidcons haven driven me to cry, to scream and shout, to feel actual hate; such is the power of this force beyond our wildest reckoning. And here I am, before you, to temp your tongues with the taint of such a tantalizing topic.

And the Japanese, the true geniuses behind the world of video games. Pah, I throw my scorn upon such incompetents of the West who would mock the true art of the Japanese with 'games' such as Baldur's Gate and Madden. Perhaps it is that the West is not as intelligent as the East, but this is a matter for another day. Japan has given us such masterpieces as the Final Fantasy series, Star Ocean, Wild Arms, and of course, Arc the Lad. Yes, some of the finest vidcons in the world were created by Japanese. I come to you today to ask you in all earnesty, what is your favorite vidcon? I will reveal mine after the grand debate has illustriously begun, but not before the first poster falls victim to my plot of discussion.

In other words, this is a thread on an imaginary forum our avatars frequent. The topic can fluctuate, and its mostly just general discussion.

Looked up the Veronese Devil, and I found pretty much the same thing that Uirst found, some guy called Paolo Veronese.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mina_ashido_family_guy_11_26_22.png

I looked at his style of paintings, and his art is fantastic. Putting in all that detail requires a lot of work and skill, as well as extra effort not to mess something up. By the way, my favorite painter is Vincent van Gogh. I've always been a fan of his colorful styles, and I sympathize with him because he suffered from mental illness in his life; I also suffer from an anxiety disorder, so I can relate to him.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/marnie_pokemon_family_guy_10_7_22.png

I did not know that. I'm sorry to hear that. Managing stuff like that can be rough.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mina_ashido_family_guy_11_26_22.png

It can be, and it's especially why it's a good thing that today people can get more accessible healthcare when they need it. Back a century ago or two things weren't as accessible. I'm very fortunate to live today rather than in the past. Because of access to a psychiatrist and prescribed medications, I'm doing great.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pokemon_penny_jungle_2_19_23_face_paint_1.png

Glad to hear that you're doing well. I also suffer from a post-traumatic stress disorder caused by being bullied when I was younger. Getting help for these kinds of things is a top priority.

It's okay now. I'm not bullied anymore in school, but sometimes I still see visions of them even if they're not there anymore. Visiting the rainforest has been very therapeutic for me because I can be one with nature, away from those bad memories that I rarely think about anymore.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mina_ashido_family_guy_11_26_22.png

I was also bullied a couple of times in my elementary school due to my appearance from my Quirk, and some of those jerks called me ugly, it was really terrible.

On a lighter note, I'm back in the place where I did most of my studies in the rainforest. Now I'm trying to climb trees to see if I can find any unique fungi species and what effects they are having on both the trees and any Pokemon that happen to eat them.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mina_ashido_family_guy_11_26_22.png

Aren't a lot of fungi species poisonous?

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pokemon_penny_jungle_2_19_23_face_paint_1.png

The ones I'm looking for aren't. But for some reason they grow higher on the tree branches instead of the ground like most fungi species do.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/marnie_pokemon_family_guy_10_7_22.png

That's pretty unexpected.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pokemon_penny_jungle_2_19_23_face_paint_1.png

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/moriritchi_sunset.jpg Fungi species growing on trees, does the tree like give them more life on something? I hope I don't sound so clueless but I just trying to imagine that in my head.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/candy_paku_hey.png Mushrooms can grow from trees though I think what Moriritchi is trying to figure out how does that progress works within mind.

From what I've read about them the spores they release are carried by the wind up high in the canopies until they land on a branch where they then dig themselves in with mycelia, or roots. Then a mushroom starts growing from there.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/marnie_pokemon_family_guy_10_7_22.png

That's pretty much with most fungi species, right?

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mina_ashido_family_guy_11_26_22.png

Yeah, my friend Kinoko Komori was able to teach me this kind of information about fungi.

I apologize for not posting in several hours. It's just, well, the "Veronese Devil" I mentioned earlier was, erm . . . not what I expected. We spent all afternoon talking about it, and I showed it to Wulfenbach because it may be a problem in the future. Probably not a problem for you guys, though, but one on our side.

Sturmvoraus will elaborate on the detals tomorrow since it's getting late over here. In the meantime, I'll reply to the messages that we missed in the 7+ hours I've been gone.

RE [1]: Oh, wow, a date! Well, nice to hear some positive news, then! I'll put 16th of May into the calendar.

RE [2]: I'm sorry to hear about your anxiety disorder.

RE [3]&[4]: Sturmvoraus had thought it had something to do with that artist at first, too. I'm not an art buff like he is so I can't correct him there. But, alas, the artist in question doesn't have anything to do with this particular "Veronese Devil." It's more like something that a pre-modern society might consider an actual devil appearing around Verona.

(OOC: Y'know, I should use google a bit more often when coming up with names for characters I make up. But I'm lucky there wasn't some pre-existing thing literally called "Veronese Devil" word-for-word.)

It's okay. I've been managing it very well the past few years, so that's a plus for me. By the way, this Veronese Devil sounds kind of spooky, like the antagonist of some supernatural horror movie.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/marnie_pokemon_family_guy_10_7_22.png

I keep thinking of The Taking of Deborah Logan when I hear supernatural horror now. That was a great movie, by the way.

Morning. Started working on a rework of our organics-safe portal chamber, and while doing that, me and my team realized that there's a whole bunch of safety and security measures specifically for organics missing on the SS Nomad. So now we're reworking at least 2000 cubic meters of living space, yay!

Also, we're currently testing a mobility exoskeleton model for organics. We already have a bunch of testers, but if anyone else is interested, feel free to sign up! If they prove to be reliable enough, I might even do a race with them at Stefan's birthday party.

Wow, good to see you're making progress in that area! The idea of hosting a race does sound like it'd be fun.

As for the "Veronese Devil" thing: according to this book, on six different occasions, a mysterious entity appeared hovering over the city of Verona, Italy. It supposedly made a strange wailing noise that gave the peope of the city migraines. Here's a depiction of it from the book:

tvtropes.org/files/fol302veronahomiletic.JPEG Description/OOC

The people at the time thought it was a demon sent as a bad omen; a few months later, the Heterodyne's horde was poised to attack northern Italy, so they took that explanation as fact. For the monks, this book is a big deal since it's a contemporary record of the event.

However, I can't help but notice that it has a lot in common with the "Muse of Time" we've been studying recently — which is a time-traveling entity that we're pretty sure is actually the "Other." The descriptions of this "Veronese Devil" are similar to those of the "Muse of Time" in some of Van Rijn's notes. Plus, the "wailing" reminds me of some of the sound-based technology I know was used during the Other War.

So anyway, I found some of the fungi species that I was researching on, and it turns out that the trees seem to be strengthened, not weakened by the presence of the fungi growing from them. I also noticed that some Victreebel were eating them and they became more energetic and fast-moving than if they did not eat them.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/marnie_pokemon_family_guy_10_7_22.png

Cool. How are you able to climb that high? You said that the fungi were growing in the canopies at least 50 feet above the ground, if not higher. Won't you be in danger of falling?

Wait, EV is a non-profit organization? Where do you even get the funds for your projects? The only way I can see EV being a non-profit is if it ran on donations and if all it's workers were volunteers.
Either that or EV's work is all automated, which raises the question of where you'd get the automation from.

[1] That's the fun part, we don't care about money! We don't get funds, instead, we place all the automatic miners, smeltery arrays and assembly lines ourselves, and then let them do the work. It's all infrastructure that we've built up over... a couple thousand years now, I believe.
Also, my kind has uploaded their minds to a single computer system, and we only need energy and maintenance to sustain ourselves. Since the system is something that everyone relies on, a lot of people care about it already. As for why people are interested in working for Exotic Ventures, well, even though we've established space travel, we haven't found any alien civilization. So now we're doing stuff for alien civilizations in the multiverse!

that sounds utopian. i'm jealous
