This is a thread where, as the title implies, our avatars (from our galleries) are posting in an in-universe forum thread. You can drop in any time with pretty much any character you want, whether from existing works or your own OCs. Though most of it is done through forum posts, some "in-person" interactions between characters is also fine.
Even if this is a more casual RP, there are still some rules and general RP etiquette to keep in mind for everyone to have a good time and feel comfortable:
- NO GODMODDING. Godmodding is when you decide what happens to another player's character, and is generally frowned upon. In particular, avoid injuring and especially killing someone else's character; fighting is ok but let the other player decide if the hit connects. If your plot idea requires something to happen to a different player's character, you'll want to privately discuss this with them and if they're ok with that. This includes in-universe moderation.
- Be nice and respect other players' boundaries. Your character being mean or a jerk is one thing, but if someone gets uncomfortable about your behavior towards their characters, knock it off. Also do not force others into your story arcs; in general it would be a good idea to ask the other person first if they are interested, and plan it together if they are.
- If you have anything to say, ask about, ect. that is not part of the RP, you can put it under a spoiler tag [[spoiler: like this]]
- While almost any character is welcome, please avoid playing any real-life person who's mainly associated with controversies, drama and problematic behavior. We don't need that here.
- Have fun!
Ahh, console video games (or vidcons as I call them). the ultimate medium of expression, able to convey any emotion ranging from hatred to love, loyalty to fear, all in front of our eyes. Ah, and with lovingly crafted art, music, and the ability to control the action, vidcons are the ultimate combination of the high arts. While I tend to play the stoic, I will be the first to admit that vidcons haven driven me to cry, to scream and shout, to feel actual hate; such is the power of this force beyond our wildest reckoning. And here I am, before you, to temp your tongues with the taint of such a tantalizing topic.
And the Japanese, the true geniuses behind the world of video games. Pah, I throw my scorn upon such incompetents of the West who would mock the true art of the Japanese with 'games' such as Baldur's Gate and Madden. Perhaps it is that the West is not as intelligent as the East, but this is a matter for another day. Japan has given us such masterpieces as the Final Fantasy series, Star Ocean, Wild Arms, and of course, Arc the Lad. Yes, some of the finest vidcons in the world were created by Japanese. I come to you today to ask you in all earnesty, what is your favorite vidcon? I will reveal mine after the grand debate has illustriously begun, but not before the first poster falls victim to my plot of discussion.
In other words, this is a thread on an imaginary forum our avatars frequent. The topic can fluctuate, and its mostly just general discussion.

Well how bad a game is like totally subjective but I don't think their existences are without meaning since they show you how "not" to make a game.
They also make good subjects for reviews and let's plays, there's a reason why the term "bile fascination" exists here!

Oh. In that case, do you have any vehicles that can briefly visit the moon and steal some of their tech from there? I’ve heard on the hidden communicators that the Lunarians seem to have lots of tech. I wonder if such tech can be made to be compatible with yours…
OOC: See here
, if you’re curious…

] Hi Bubsy! I'd certainly agree with you as it's fun to discuss the matter of games and the choices for making them.
I know you (Bubsy) have a bit of a messy weputation (mostly just for that thwee d game) I wemember your others being towerable especiawwy compared to Awesome Possum if you ever heard of him. [2
]
Oh, really? Guess that opossum would be in trouble if they met you.
I still find it funny how that opossum tried to rip off Sonic but so many ripped off his game in certain areas and did it better.

I could cook up something, but what do you need the tech for? I've already bothered the lunarians enough via the translator and the defensive fleets. CenterBrain knows what they might pull out once we start to overpower them...
And besides, we'd basically be doing home invasion, and that's against any healthy sense of morals.

There's Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing, which is So Bad, It's Good. There's no enemy driver AI, there's no collision detection, there are no map boundaries, backwards speed is uncapped and your acceleration doesn't care how steep the slope is that you're on. Oh, and you also can't get airborne.
Besides that, any Bethesda game shortly after release? There's also Forager, which I really don't approve of due to how grindy it is, and how boring the puzzles are.
Honourable mention would be No Man's Sky shortly after launch. It was apparently a buggy mess and way too overhyped - in its current state, it's really fun, though.
Unrelated, but since the winter holidays are coming up and I'll have more time to spare, who would want to learn a thing or two about complex numbers?
If it disagrees with experiment, it's wrong.[1]
Well, I do remember playing this one game Kleiner had down at his lab. It ran on a hacked Combine terminal, I believe. I'm really not sure what the hell was even going on half the time. I guess it was sort of like Prax Wars, but like a messy, overly complicated and ugly version. I mean, I can understand why Game developers would have fell off a bit after the whole shebang.
Man, I really wanna play Prax Wars again. I've wasted countless hours of my life just dumping quarters while off-duty.
I wonder how I could tie Hunt Down the Freeman into this...

"I definitely know what science is."
x3 I would love to learn something new about complex numbers. I need a math refresher.
: Make that double.
: Make that triple. Learning new things is always nice.
: Ooh, new math stuff? A big yes for me!
: You guys seem very interested in something, mind if I join?
: Shut up, Peter.
Terrible video games vary based on a person's interests. I know someone who actually loves playing broken games. Who also deliberately broke several others just for the heck of it.

] Well hello Toad, the taco business is going a little slower this time of year as it's not usually the choice for Christmas dinner (they should consider how nice and spicy they can be for those chilly days). [2
] Hey Shadow, nice to meet you!

That's fair, real life is more important than an online thread. There's been multiple festivals?
I might do the lecture on complex math tomorrow, because a) it late and b) I need to plan things. I might throw in the exponential function e^x and Euler's identity.
Oh, you're doing a lecture? Can I take a look?
Sure

Speaking of which, I still miss those taco logs they used to sell at the store.
At least they still got the delicious pizza logs! Those are to die for!
I still love to try out the apple pie logs which I never seen in that store, they look so tasty! aroo.

It’s Inazuma, there’s basically one every week. Using the plural was an exaggeration, there was only the one, but they do seem to ramp up this time of year. Just around the time of what is apparently a major holiday in your world. How curious.

To be honest, I don't know of any video games that are excruciatingly bad, aside from Bubsy 3D.
