This is a thread where, as the title implies, our avatars (from our galleries) are posting in an in-universe forum thread. You can drop in any time with pretty much any character you want, whether from existing works or your own OCs. Though most of it is done through forum posts, some "in-person" interactions between characters is also fine.
Even if this is a more casual RP, there are still some rules and general RP etiquette to keep in mind for everyone to have a good time and feel comfortable:
- NO GODMODDING. Godmodding is when you decide what happens to another player's character, and is generally frowned upon. In particular, avoid injuring and especially killing someone else's character; fighting is ok but let the other player decide if the hit connects. If your plot idea requires something to happen to a different player's character, you'll want to privately discuss this with them and if they're ok with that. This includes in-universe moderation.
- Be nice and respect other players' boundaries. Your character being mean or a jerk is one thing, but if someone gets uncomfortable about your behavior towards their characters, knock it off. Also do not force others into your story arcs; in general it would be a good idea to ask the other person first if they are interested, and plan it together if they are.
- If you have anything to say, ask about, ect. that is not part of the RP, you can put it under a spoiler tag [[spoiler: like this]]
- While almost any character is welcome, please avoid playing any real-life person who's mainly associated with controversies, drama and problematic behavior. We don't need that here.
- Have fun!
Ahh, console video games (or vidcons as I call them). the ultimate medium of expression, able to convey any emotion ranging from hatred to love, loyalty to fear, all in front of our eyes. Ah, and with lovingly crafted art, music, and the ability to control the action, vidcons are the ultimate combination of the high arts. While I tend to play the stoic, I will be the first to admit that vidcons haven driven me to cry, to scream and shout, to feel actual hate; such is the power of this force beyond our wildest reckoning. And here I am, before you, to temp your tongues with the taint of such a tantalizing topic.
And the Japanese, the true geniuses behind the world of video games. Pah, I throw my scorn upon such incompetents of the West who would mock the true art of the Japanese with 'games' such as Baldur's Gate and Madden. Perhaps it is that the West is not as intelligent as the East, but this is a matter for another day. Japan has given us such masterpieces as the Final Fantasy series, Star Ocean, Wild Arms, and of course, Arc the Lad. Yes, some of the finest vidcons in the world were created by Japanese. I come to you today to ask you in all earnesty, what is your favorite vidcon? I will reveal mine after the grand debate has illustriously begun, but not before the first poster falls victim to my plot of discussion.
In other words, this is a thread on an imaginary forum our avatars frequent. The topic can fluctuate, and its mostly just general discussion.

Depends on the time of day, really. Dunno which timezone you live in, but for me, the thread starts getting active at around 10 PM.
Small update from my homeworld - something has started attacking factories all across the local galaxy. The P10K Battlestar assembly line is still functional, luckily, but I've just been told that there will be a briefing from the CenterBrain this afternoon regarding whatever this new threat is, and attendance is mandatory for any participants in the Dyson Sphere Program. I'll try my best to keep you updated.
That's right, DSP is getting a combat update! There's been an announcement on Steam about it, and it included a bunch of new lore. Hopefully the retcons won't be too bad lol

Aliens? Hope they aren't scawy.
Don't worry, I can handle them!
Well, it's been a long day, the "brief"ing was a bit longer than expected and I had lots of fun discussing ethics and AI stuff with the other attendants afterwards, but no, this enemy is not alien - apparently it's a precursor to the Dyson Sphere Program. You see, there were attempts to improve power production before the DSP, and one of them (dubbed the Mechanical Energy Program or MEP for short) involved self-replicating machines which would autonomously harvest resources, generate power, send that power back to Earth, and if they still had power left, they would use it to replicate themselves. We equipped them with weapons, too, just in case some theoretical invader tried to break them - in retrospect, that might've been an odd idea, since we're the ones encroaching on alien civilizations here. Eventually the swarm of machines became sentient and started expanding for its own sake, disregarding the energy needs of the CenterBrain. And now, somewhere in the very near future, this Dark Fog might be competing with us for resources. If you don't know the dangers of self-replicating (and spacefaring!) machines, I'd recommend playing Universal Paperclips.
I've shut down the Battlestar production line out of fear of a similar scenario - at least the battlestars don't replicate themselves. I'll probably also have to start outsourcing some supply chains to other universes. If anyone else here can travel between universes and has firepower, you're more than welcome to come over and help fight the Dark Fog - just don't come within one parsec of Earth, or people might get suspicious.

said, yeah. Just her babbling as incoherently as… well, can't exactly say "humanly" since she isn't human but neither "The Empty Onely" nor "The Subjugated Onely" sound right… but anyway, just babbling as incoherently as possible.
Or translation: me and my "temporary right arms" (friends, girlfriends, or my twin sister, when they're typing for me while my right arm heals) coming up with the most random things we can think of just for the heck of it.
I'll probably sift through all the madness at some point and see if I can't make any sense of it somehow. I think there are a few pretty good stuff buried in the madness, which we could use for the fictional multiverse we've got.

That's why I'm very sure that there's more to your world than meets the eye - way more. If it's true that all the youkai moved into Gensokyo because they were losing power due to lack of belief from the outside world, then belief must have real effects on the environment. Belief, in my world, is a behavior pattern emergent from neural connections, and as such, couldn't possibly affect the environment on its own without any other behavioral patterns having similar effects - therefore, I conclude that whatever drives a human must range beyond the brain.
Is it possible for you(r kind) to force a belief onto an object/human, in order to somehow physically change it?

Hmm, I don't know! Though I've heard about gods changing their attributes to gain more faith.
Oh I know about that! The Moriya Shrine lady wants to become a "goddess of technological innovation", which is why she gave Okuu the powers of Yatagarasu! My big sis said divine spirits can change their own natures by using myths! Which kinda sounds like what you meant.
I don't know who it was so it might!
checked and since that person's acc was deleted I'm gonna play it safe and say they're different Gensokyos
"That was a pointless encounter with a pointless person."That might've been when JUICE took over my account. I think they might've scared the other person away from the thread by calling their local NASA Cloudcuckoolanders - to be fair, I share that stance, but I've stayed quiet about the issue because I didn't want to start drama.

Hey Ica? It has been a very long time since I dabbled on this forum. I had a lot to deal with...
I hope you’re not too busy...
OOC: Sorry for my long absence, let’s say I had to deal with finals, work and a COVID infection in a short amount of time...
Yo buddies, still tropin’?Hey Phos, welcome back to the thread! I'm fine, I've been developing a lot of new tech. And I've found military testing opportunities
in my homeworld.
How's your life been, hopefully the encyclopedia wasn't too time-consuming?
No problem! Get well soon.

Well, some good stuff I can think of:
- More stuff on the encyclopedia, especially during the winter.
- Saw that machine you made for Cinnabar, they’re at least thankful for not having to destroy everything they touch.
- I can finally do some combat.
Now for the not so good stuff:
- Nearly lost my legs from some snail-looking creature
shortly after trying out Cinnabar's machine. Had to use some weird agate to replace about roughly one-fifth of my legs.
- From hearing from all the Lunarians'
speeches via that translator you gave me, I'm very saddened about what’s happened to our seniors, plus they mentioned our Sensei being a machine—I don’t know how to understand this...
- Lost my arms during Winter work, and almost lost another Gem that was working with me, but thankfully Cinnabar saved most of them, although I did see one of your old ramming "fighters" doing the hard work in keeping off another Lunarian attack...
To be honest, I had a lot to think about and a lot to do around the island. Although, what’s JUICE, and when and how did it take over???
Hello, uh, what are you this time?
OOC: Don’t worry, I've recovered from COVID, but still got a lot of work to do, so don’t expect any consistently daily postings...
Yo buddies, still tropin’?

i remember someone talking about a gensokyo two hundred and forty pages ago
This is lively, huh?
