Snarf doesn't look too bad, especially now that he lost his cartoonishly human-esque face. Making him more like a cat in appearance fits with the group's theme anyway. Not sure how I feel about his new inability to talk though.
The toys look nice, and the PVC figures of the original Thundercats takes me back. I remember that we eventually lost Lion-O and Snarf but still had the Sword of Omens Lion-O came with.
I think Nika Futterman would do a good Wilykit. She did Smellerbee in Avatar, and she sounded a lot like the original voice actress. I wonder who will voice Lion-O. He's younger this time, but I don't want him to sound too young. I really hope that somehow they get Lenore Zann, who did the voice of Aisha in Outlaw Star. She can really make her voice sound catlike, kind of like Jim Cummings and Scott Mcneil.
She would probably be a good Cheetara. Not sure about Lion-O though.
Why not just get Gene Starwind's voice actors for Lion-o?
The voice actor's for Faye and Jett for Cheetara and Panthera?
Can't think of anyone for Tygra
Or just get a bunch of good unknowns.

Tygra's already being voiced by Matthew Mercer.

NUL: Why not Jim's VA?
Jim Hawking's VA? I'm only familiar with that role, so as far as I know the VA does younger characters and would be better suited for one of the kids (neither of who's name I can recall).
Maybe she could be Wildkit.
The logo's the same as in the old series? Cool. It'd have been near to impossible to improve on it.

Does anyone find it ironic that Tygra was always getting drugged or mind controlled in the old cartoon, despite supposedly being a master of mental power and focus? I hope they don't do that to him this time around.
This is the first thing I've heard that gives me pause. It reminds me of how they made Cringer/Battlecat non-talking in the 2002 He-Man. I'm gonna be honest, Snarf is one of my favorite characters, pretty much because unlike near every other "pet" character in Western Animation, his advice is usually good and he can actually kick ass sometimes.
Dude, he got drugged all of, what, twice? And the first time, he snapped out of it long enough to realize what was going on and on-the-spot put a plan in motion for turning the tables.
visit my blog! Both of those are good points. I posted that right when I was in the middle of the episode, so I didn't know yet that he was going to snap out of it. Still, it seems like he should be the one to immediately know when something's an illusion. I haven't seen the series since it aired on Toonami years ago, so I was going by what I heard of from other fans. I think I confused his tendency to be the Designated Victim with getting mind controlled. Seeing Tygra get high on fruit was pretty damn funny though.
I'm trying to watch all the episodes, so I'll see just how many times this actually happens. I've watched a bunch out of order, but I'm on 13 now, "Lord of Snows."
And yeah, Snarf really wasn't all that bad. Maybe fans just didn't like the way his voice sounded.

Snarf wasn't nearly as bad as, say, Classic Orko or Scrappy Doo. Often he was the Strawman Has a Point of the series.
The thing is dude, being high is kind of like dreaming. It's a state where the weird suddenly becomes perfectly normal. It doesn't matter how intelligent or quick-witted you are.
Hey dude Classic Orko rocked!

visit my blog!I hope Monkian doesn't change too much. He's my favorite Mutant and has, in my opinion, some pretty awesome moments. In fact, I think the villains are one of the best things about the classic show. Design wise, I'm guessing they'll stick closer to the originals for the villains.

Agree. The Mutants were very imaginative villians for their day, as were the Lunataks. While I agree that the show shouldn't go too far down the Darker and Edgier path, I would like to see the Plun-Darrians be a little more menacing in general than they were in the original series.
The Muntants weren't bad and the Lunataks were better but Mum-ra rocked, at times qualifying as Nightmare Fuel (and I mean that in a good way). Snarf doesn't talk? Oh Thank Whoever!
Trump delenda estI never saw any of the original series aside from a few odd clips, but these seeing these new designs and hearing which animation studio is gonna be behind it has me really excited.
I've seen some of the original Snarf, and I've got to say that making him into a non-talking animal is a welcome change.
Here's an old press release with a bit of info:
So there are Stones of Power that they have to collect. Maybe they will be like the Treasures of Thundera from the old show.
Kinda late to the thread, but they're really making a new Thundercats show? And its being made by Studio4°C? Hooly crap this is awesome!
I think Third Earth turned into the Land of Ooo. After seeing so many episode of the old show, it's become obvious.
I wonder if the Mutants will change from just your basic villains to possibly being a faction of outcasts that were shunned on Thundera because of Fantastic Racism. It could prove to make them more interesting and a little more sympathetic, but I would still like them to be bad guys.
UPDATE: Here are some pics from the New York Toy fair, with some of the new character designs, including Mumm-Ra and Ssslyth: here, here, and here.
EDIT: That first link is really bad and slow, so just stick to looking at www.thundercats.ws
It looks like Mumm-Ra's getting wings and swords. And that appears to be Grune in the pics.
Also of interest is this leaked teaser of the scrapped Thundercats CGI film:

I looked at the toyfare pics and it looks like there's a Wilykit on the box art.
Looks more like Wilykat. Seems to be pretty close to the original. There's also some more info about the series revealed.
Looks like the Berbils are back, and Lion-O's Claw Shield will grow along with his skill and eventually turn into armor. Weird, but okay. It also seems that Mumm-Ra has evil versions of Lion-O's weapons. He has the Sword of Plundarr in the pics of his deluxe figure along with a weird, evil version of the Claw Shield.
EDIT: A pic of Wily Kat, Wily Kit, and Slithe on the back of a box: http://www.thundercats.ws/news/modern-thundercats-toy-news-2/thundercats-2011-toy-fair-wilykit-and-wilykat-first-look-53/
Are those tails on the Thunderkittens? Weird that they have them and the adults don't.

There's a full body Cheetara pic? Cause I didn't notice any lower body on the Cheetara in the group photo.Noticed now. The shorts don't look that low.edited 1st Feb '11 1:55:40 PM by GethKnight
