Maybe Panthro should be voiced by Jett
Most (if not all) 80s/early 90s cartoons (and all the animes I've seen) had awesome intros with amazing animation and then the show itself is always of noticeably(sp?) lesser quality. So I'm really hoping for some consistency.
Also, they should definitely do a modern cover of the original theme, maybe get Powerglove to do it.

Panthro with Jett's voice honestly isn't a bad idea. Jett was already kind of like Panthro. Here's my favorite cover of the theme:
Now I'm wondering if the new intro could be an almost shot for shot remake of the old one if they decide to cover the old theme.

Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...I was watching some of the old episodes. I realized that the concept was good, but not always well executed. The pilot episodes just sort of throw you in without any backstory, like who the heck the characters are, or why Thundera is blowing up.
What this new series needs is some serious Adaptation Distillation. From the get go we need to get some sort of foundation. Another thing is that the old series had too many genres mixed in and it felt kind of schizophrenic. There were unicorns and robot bears. The new series should probably stick to fewer elements.
What I think would be really cool is if they redid the Trials of Anointment. That could make for a good season finale. And then they can introduce the three new Thundercats in the next season just like in the old series.
EDIT: This interview with the producer is probably worth reading.

Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...Oddly enough I kind of agree with Star Outlaw, except on one thing: We don't really need to know more about why Thundera exploded. It's not important, and leaving it open allows them to come up with something later when it actually becomes plot-relevant.
Those frakking Berbils do need to go though. Not "be changed", they need to go!
visit my blog!Goddamn Berbils. Augh.
Hahaha! I remember those damn things. Weird ass.
I think they should keep the Berbils but have them be the remnants of a super-advanced toy company back when Third Earth was still First Earth (I always liked those hints of After The Endness.
As far as Thundera exploding, the way they handled it in the original does need improving on: very beginning of the show we're on a spaceship, Liono looks out the window, sees a planet blowing up, and only then gets told it was their homeworld. Way to strip the moment of almost all its emotional punch, guys.
"It takes an idiot to do cool things, that's why it's cool" - Haruhara HarukoThing is, they weren't going for "emotional impact." That Thundera was exploding was just part of the setup. It wasn't important beyond explaining why these guys are the last survivors and how come they're underdogs on an uncharted new planet. They knew that the kids at home wouldn't really care about Thundera once the Cats were all building their fortress and stuff, so they largely glossed over it.
Which is the way it should be. Not everything needs to be elaborate, and its worth pointing out that a lot of times when a revival gives a character an elongated backstory or origin, it winds up paralyzing the story and writing it into corners (like the 2002 version of He-Man)
visit my blog!If that's the case, why bother with Thundera exploding at all? Why not start with the Thundercats landing on Third Earth, have one of them mention they're looking for a new world to live on, and then move on? If you're actually going to show the Main Characters' homeworld being destroyed (and, more importantly, show the Main Characters watching their homeworld being destroyed) tossing it off so casually doesn't quite cut it.
"It takes an idiot to do cool things, that's why it's cool" - Haruhara HarukoYes. When your whole planet blows up, it ought to cause a little more angst.
I was thinking that the Mutants could instead be called Pundarrians, since that's the planet they're from. Or, they could be from Thundera instead, and maybe the Thundercats are limited to just one kingdom at war with them, instead of just controlling the whole planet.
I hope they don't make Panthro too gruff. He was the coolest Thundercat, and while he was the Big Guy, he was also a martial artist and was agile like a ninja. I'd just hate it if they changed him into some Proud Warrior Race Guy. That would just suck. One character change I wouldn't mind is if they made the Thunderkittens older. Maybe around 14.
Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...Because that starts the story too fast. It's very possible for viewers (especially young ones) to get lost if too much is going on at once.
Alternatively, because a planet blowing up is a good attention-getter.
Though... you may be right. Lord knows I've sometimes had trouble with this myself.

visit my blog! It, looks more like an animal...
More importantly: THE FUCKING THUNDER TANK!
Fight smart, not fair.... am I the only one that thinks that those shorts that Cheetara is wearing look like they'd be next to impossible to run in? As in, 'causing physical pain if one tried to move faster than a slow, slinky walk'?
I'm more curious as to how she gets her pants to stay up. She doesn't have the hips or ass to keep something that low from falling off. Not that I'd expect most people to mind.
Fight smart, not fair.He looks more like a cat than he does his classic version. He even has more catlike eyes.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987I'd say the tail looks shorter and gets thinner.
Fight smart, not fair.Apparently, it's being done by Studio 4ÂșC.
Suddenly, Snarf doesn't look like the hideous lizard creature he did before; now he looks like a cute lizard creature.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatBe awesome to get Keith David to do the voice for Panthro, probably won't happen though.
Kevin Michael Richardson as Panthro would be a good bet.
I don't think it was mentioned in this thread yet, but apparently Snarf doesn't talk in the new series. He's essentially a Pokemon now. I don't mind it. I guess they wanted to keep Snarf in, make him less annoying.
The Thundertank looks cool. I have to agree that they probably should pull Cheetara's shorts up a little higher.
Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...
I don't think it was deliberate. Panthro does sort of resemble Jet, but I think there's someone else he looks more like. I can't remember who though.
The new looks really remind me of the sort of outfits worn in Broken Sky (which I highly recommend). Here's a pic for comparison (scroll down): http://www.boggnasker.dk/vbforum/fantasy/9559-tusmorkekrigen-chris-wooding-broken-sky-serien.html
