We got some tidbits of interesting info on the other Lucii, such as that the Rogue was a Spare to the Throne who mostly ruled from the shadows, and such. Honestly if the executives at Squenix were more competent they could've just taken advantage of the game's strong capacity for worldbuilding and periodically released light novels building upon the lore at low resource cost instead of leaving it to die completely like the The Un-Favourite. A decent number of IPs have survived off of Enjoy the Story, Skip the Game, and XV has about a thousand years they can play around with.
To the novel's credit it tries to portray Somnus as just a different kind of Well-Intentioned Extremist rather than a full-on usurping bastard who goes through an offscreen change of heart like the anime and DLC did.

It was a mistake putting so much important stuff in the anime & movie.
Especially since it all could have made great moments in the game. Flashbacks detailing the backstories of the crew or Noctis facing off against his mother & fathers killer.

Neither is it used in FFXIII but the Fal'cie are Shinto gods. Etro and Bhunivelze are straight up flipped versions of Izanagi and Izanami.
In LR they drop all pretense and straight up use the term 'god'.
... they based a whole world religion on Sin, he is a god.

I didn't say there weren't gods in FF XIII did I? I was talking about FF X.
And while the Church of Yevon presented Sin as some kind of Gaia's Vengeance or something, the higher-ups knew damn well what it really was. Sin is simply a corrupted aeon. One created by a scared and desperate man.
Edit:
So it turns out that according to Final Fantasy X-2.5 ~Eien no Daishō~(sequel novel to X-2), Spira did used to worship more traditional deities long ago before the time of Yevon.

Disgusted, but not surprisedThis is what i said in the F General thread and why I said Noct is more Tidus than Yuna.
Yuna dying accomplishes nothing. Her sacrifice is meaningless. But death is not avoidable.Tidus must give his life to save the world. There is no other way.
Same for Noctis. His death does not just cover up the problem with lies, it actually fixes the problem and saves the world.
Similar t oTidus is Noct's journey being one of maturity. Tidus is much more of an entitled brat than Noct but they both struggle with the burden they have been charged with and only come to accept their fate at the very end For the good of all the y loved they accepted they would have to leave behind all they loved.

Except Tidus comes up with a plan to defeat Sin for good, save the woman he loves, and tie up loose ends with his dad largely on his own.
Like pretty much everything in XV, from his friends, to his car, to his powers, training, and especially his throne and destiny, Noctis just kind of has the solution to everything laid out or handed to him. Bahamut forces him into the crystal, tells him to go sacrifice himself, and he does it. I guess there's something admirable about obediently giving your life for the greater good, but outside his cute little goatee and big boy suit he fished out his dad's closet Noctis doesn't undergo any discernible character growth the way Tidus does.

Well, the plan with Sin was relatively simple. Yunalesca and Mika had just told him Yu Yuevon is why Sin always comes back so Tidus is like "we gotta kill Yu Yevon. so Sin doesn't come back" And then Bahamut filled in all the details of how to actually accomplish this.
And he didn't even come up with the part of the plan that involved calming Sin with the Hymn, that was Wakka, Rikku and Lulu.
But I see your core point. FFX is a much more linear character-focused game so we see far more of Tidus' evolution. Once XV goes on rails though I think it goes for much he same thing. Chapter 10 I believe it was in the aftermath of Altissia and Gladio telling Noct he had to start acting like a king instead of moping around all the way to Noct finally putting on the Ring is clearly supposed to show he's accepting his responsibility.
The way I've heard it in Brotherhood or maybe the movie is that Regis, knowing what his son's fate was going to be since Noct was young, gave him the most normal life imaginable. He wanted his son who was destined to die early to live a full and wonderful life.
I don't dislike the final few chapters of the game but I have concluded Leviathan is the last great story boss in the game. Fantastic build and hype, amazing music, lots of emotion with Noct being equal parts in anguish and furious, and of course it just looks great in both "phases."
Daemon Ravus could have been just as good but there's so much happening at the time that neither our heroes nor we have that much emotion to spare on what happened to him.

The problem with Daemon Ravus is it is a fairly familiar
boss fight
Concept
Ardyn's boss fight was apparently trimmed down where he would have a proper Daemon form
This is an outrage against Luminara! So I watched some random bits and pieces from Kingslaive.
...Luna somehow has more chemistry with Nyx rather than Noctis.

Boy would it have been cool if more was done on the whole past kings thing aside from just getting their signature weapons.
