Dont release MM Os early that it requires taking half the staff from a a different games production and making its situation worse when the engine is already proving to be a nightmare.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. There was way more problems than just that. Versus XI Ii/XV really had everything stacked against it.

Yep. The whole PS 3/360/Wii era was just bad for SE in terms of consoles, way too many growing pains and mismanagement.
I think Yoshi-P probably is directing XVI since we have a few signs to suggest that. It wouldn't surprise me if they got the Shadowbringers writer to be the scenario writer for XVI too since her story is considered one of the best if not the best FF story ever.
Do not underestimate the trash that was FFXIV 1.0. It was in way WAY worse shape than a game that only had some character designs completed an story ideas...
And yes and no. They managed to get a game that required an i7 to even run and was famous for melting computers in general... to run on a PS 3.

Toriyama is Co-director and scenario design on VIIIR
Watanabe is lead scenario writer on Mobius Final Fantasy, which is ending soon

Interesting. I guess that makes sense, he was part of the original VII staff.
i dunno, I have maintained for a few years now that there has never been a bad numbered mainline FF game. I only have FF 1 and 5 left to play, too.
God knows I can criticize FFVIII and FFXIII for days but it's more out of the squandered potential and not because they are just flat out bad games. There is plenty of good there and there could have been more basically.
I'm sure FFXVI will be okay at the very least.

The only straight up bad FF game is III imo and even in the non-mobile spinoffs only Do C comes to mind there.
I like VIII, the translation issues are honestly the only thing I would fix with that.
And I like XIII, the 10 chapters of tutorials, translation issues, and map design are the only big issues with it imo.
FFXV is just frustrating to no end. The road trip mid game was great, the wasn’t Final Fantasy but it was great

Rule of thumb seems to be that Toriyama works just fine when someone else is in charge to reign him in. Protection from Editors and all that jazz.
Hey, FFIII has the best magic system in the series and we need more of it!
And as I said, I don't hate FFVIII and FFXIII. I'm oddly having a strong temptation to replay FFXIII in the last...five minutes. lol I miss my Vanille, I guess.
But man, I have so many problems with that game. It very possibly has the most interesting world in the franchise but we see none of it so who fucking cares. That's what I meant about squandered potential.
Although I maintain FFXV deserves a sequel so much more than XIII ever did, even though I of course adore XIII-2 as one of the best FF games ever.
Cribbing a lesson from VIIR: Management needs to actually communicate with the teams and be clear on who is responsible for what. Nomura didn't know that he was tapped for the Director's chair of VIIR until the whole world found out when his name popped up in the trailer. Apparently he had the impression at first that they were only just consulting with him or something, not putting him in charge.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyWell XV needed a sequel because it is literally unfinished.
FFXIII was finished and as much as the translation issues tried to bungle it, it was a complete story. FFXIII-2 had to straight up retcon it.
XV needed another side to the story to really put home how stupid the whole thing is and how Noctis is just a knockoff Yuna at the end of the day. Like introduce Stella as a new MC during the World of Ruin and basically unravel everything. Make Luna an actual bad guy and the whole honey trap to get Noctis to create the World of Ruin. And basically try to prevent everything post time skip from ever happening and just call that the Bad End.
Well basically retcon it all and add some actual substance to the stupid.
I have zero problem with the ending concept. Noctis is more Tidus than Yuna.
The only problem with the ending is that we didn't get to see more of the world of ruin. If we got to explore it and talk to our friends after ten years, that be awesome. Noctis can still die to fulfill his destiny. If the world of ruin was an open world? Best game ever potential.
We need more pro-destiny and pro-gods stories.

Don’t announce it so early.
