Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Well that's fucked up. How bizarre and unsettling.
Schild und Schwert der ParteiYes, if it wasn't obvious already, there is absolutely zero basis for this "sexual jihad" thing in any credible interpretation of the Islamic Sharia.

On the other hand, how difficult is it to find an imam who provides an interpretation of the various writings that suits a particular desire?
(Not limited to Islam, admittedly.)

All your safe space are belong to TrumpPresumably there's plenty of girls the world over who go after army guys because they're often brave, heroic, young, fit and tough. Maybe also a bit of All Girls Want Bad Boys? It's not really that weird, despite the rather sensational 'sexual jihad' motif.

Anyway, on Syria, I think the likeliest explanation is that Assad is invoking divide et impera. He knows that America has been forced to finally move its bloated arse and get involved, and coincidentally at the same time, the rebel factions have started Struggling Together. By doing this, he secures both American and Russian goodwill and licenses the rebels to bleed each other to death while he laughs.
And when this is all over, he can form a coalition government with the most easily-bribed secularists (as the government has said, Syria's prewar regime effectively no longer exists except for Assad himself), grant some token reforms that can be left to collect dust bunnies, and come out of this with more power than he went in with.
If this is what he's doing, then as much as I hate the guy, I've got to admire his nerve.

"For example, getting the US bogged down in the middle east as a way to hurt their economy was the ultimate aim of 9/11, rather than the act itself."
Heh, the one long term idea they ever had. It wasn't a terrible idea, but the implementation hasn't been very good.
I'm done trying to sound smart. "Clear" is the new smart.
