I cant help but feel that America is gonna get a crapton of egg on its face from this.

You are NOT going to help the situation in the Middle East by basically saying "We will bomb the crap out of your country in the name of democracy, but if its a democracy that might inconvenience us, we will not support it."

I think the boys upstairs are paralyzed with indecision over the fact that in a Democracy, radical Islam can get elected.

And in the USA the Tea Party can get elected. Should we ban democracy in case their victory seems likely?

You can't really blame them for not wanting to support the Muslim Brotherhood.

Except for 4/1/2011. That day lingers in my memory like...metaphor here...I should go.

I'm not saying I support what they're doing, just stating what the issues they might be weighing.

I believe that quite a lot of protesters don't like the Muslim Brotherhood (along with one women who appeared on the BBC's coverage, saying "I am a Muslim, but I do not support the Muslim Brotherhood; I am a private Muslim, and worship should be kept in the home, not in government." [awesome]), but they might not be a good sample.

Yeah, even the Al Jazeera anchor was fucking with a Muslim Brotherhood representative during an interview.

And how do we know the Military (if they are put into power) dont just make a new dictator instead?

^ Er, what? I doubt that the military would be put in power; at the moment, it seems likely that if Mubarak steps down, his Vice President (who's name escapes me) will become President, and he's fairly well-respected.

This is provided that they keep the elections in September.

I believe that's correct, formerly a General.

We have no reason to believe that the military will act irresponsibly in this scenario, they've been both moral and professional the whole way through this.

It's a hard line to dance, but I'm glad the commander of the forces in Cairo pretty much said "We will not fire on civilians. Period." to the President and the Press instead of waiting for Mabarak to give the order, then telling him to go fuck himself. He still has a large number of the presidential guard protecting him.

Well, I'm glad that we finally told Mubarak to get out officially, and that we, for once, actually did something the Israeli's didn't like.

I like Israel and all, but I don't like this pushy attitude of theirs that we should do everything they say, and yet they don't do everything we say. Frankly I'm tired of it.

I can understand it in so much that without international support Israel is very much fucked. Not to mention a fair amount of countries want to see it die so I can see why they wouldn't be the most polite or patient regarding it.

Well he's talking about WWII when the Chinese bomb pearl harbor and they commuted suicide by running their planes into the ship.

You would think that might encourage them to listen to us more often, and maybe be a little more fucking polite about asking us to do things.

We seem to have this one-way relationship with Israel where we give them tons of stuff, and they demand more, but give nothing in return.(oh, except Mossad Agents who get caught spying on us)

I can't blame them for espionage, I forgot the exact expression, but spying on your allies might prove to be more to your benefit than your enemy.

I can see why our relationship is frustrating since it is one way but my question is if there is anything Israel can give us in return?

A lesson in how to do airport security properly?

Assuming of course that anyone in charge here actually cares about efficacy, not appearances.
