The battle with Margulis was pretty cool. Beat him on my second try. First time, I had him down to the point where Jin has to land the final blow...and then he used his H-Stop thing and that's an instant game over. Second time was easier because I knew what to expect.
Is 40 the max level in these games? I always end up in the late 30s range by the time I finish.
Sorry to double post, but I HATE ORMUS KNIGHTS. They come in groups of four or five, they're ridiculously fast, they boost all the time, they do 200+ damage with every attack (or 300+ to the squishier characters), and they even use combos. Thanks to them, taking the path with the items is out of the question.
OK, I'm on the final boss, but I'm having trouble with him. The last time, I got him down to about 4,000 HP before he launched everyone into the air and had Proto Omega boost and attack.
I think next time I play I'll do a little bit of grinding. Getting another level or two would probably make a difference.

So the second game's dub was largely a disaster but man oh man, you gotta love having Keith Szarabajka join the cast. The man has such an awesome voice and does a great job with an awesome villain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXGIkv6paY4&t=216m52s
Ended up just skipping to the third game and watching the end on You Tube. I was having way too much trouble with Space Pope and didn't feel like grinding.
Third game is great so far. I'm currently getting Shion out of Labrynthos. Got past the point where Suou lets her go, but then died to some random encounter or other.
I was a bit surprised that they got rid of the system of regular attacks, but I'm not complaining - it was a bit convoluted to begin with. Plus, I like the new skill system. It's a lot more straightforward, and I like being able to choose combat roles.
The beginning of the game was a bit confusing, what with the timeskip and all, but it was explained pretty quickly. I like that the datalog is back - I missed it in the second game. I like that kind of worldbuilding, even if some of it is a bit excessive.
The best part is going at it for 100% completion! There are a few things that can be missed forever-equipment stuff-but I don't think any of the database items fall into that category.
As I've said, XS 3 is easily the best in the series. A few people prefer XS 1, but those people are vacuous stuffy nosed perverts.
That's a random and totally out of place Monty Python reference-but I guess you could argue I was accusing them of only being interest in XS 1 for the MOMO panty shots or something.
Oh yeah, I read the script for that (as well as the script for Ziggy's backstory game)

I just beat Episode III last week after not playing it for years (got stuck on the Final Boss) and LOVED the ending.
I loved Episode III mainly for its excellent battle system and the Skill Line system of character growth. I wonder if there are any other RPGs that have similar systems?
Do not obey in advance. The final boss kicked my ass and seemed unbeatable during my first playthrough. It totally skipped my mind that they had explained how finishing a battle with a Special Attack gets you extra points. On subsequent playthroughs when I remembered that, the boss wasn't any real problem. Getting MOMO or KOS-MOS to the end of their Skill Line ensures victory.
Also I like Episode 1 more for many reasons. MOMO is just one of them. I fully admit nostalgia plays a part but there's a lot of other factors that I can't get into until Blue finishes EP 3.

This is intended for Xeno fans who might have noticed the website Xenotensei is gone. In case you hadn't ever looked at the URL, it was the site with a ton of supplementary material translated for all of us like the Xenosaga III Perfect Guide.
Well smarter people than myself were prepared for just such an occasion and made back-ups of all the articles and translations and character pages. We are currently in the process of re-uploading as much of it as we can to this wiki:
http://xeno-underground.net/wiki/doku.php
Now I'm doing this partly because it's the nice thing to do as I'm sure most people won't know about this wiki without me, but also because I want to get input on if it all looks like shit. Right now I'm just re-uploading the PD Fs I have and I'm sure it looks awful but I don't know no nothing about no computer stuff. Uploading files is simple and easy enough but if there's some nicer way to actually "post" the file without having to re-type all those millions of words of text, I'd appreciate knowing about it.
But hey, if nobody really cares about just clicking on PDF links, we can leave it as is I guess.
Happy 10th anniversary, Xenosaga Episod III. One of the only games I followed through production and made sure to preorder. I still remember how excited Iwas and all the chats me and other Xeno nerds had as we awaitd the answers to the mountains of questions the first two games built. I only wish I still had my copy... Sadly, moving out-of-state is expensive. I can't replay it now but I will get a new copy soon. I just can' t believe it's been so long. If only the HD petition had succeeded... Those Dark Cloud games got the treatment. They never seemed all that popular.
I have a copy of the game, but I actually downloaded the undub, just so that I could play it with Japanese vocals.
However, the undub had some problems and would hang at a certain scene. So I had to briefly switch over to the north American normal release for that scene before switching back.
It was fun.
Bandai Namco just trademarked "Also Sprach Zarathustra," the subtitle for Episode III, in the US.
I thought something like this might happen, given the success of the Xenoblade series (especially with 2 having KOS-MOS).
This song needs more love.Looks like T-elos is joining KOS-MOS as a rare Blade in Xenoblade 2.

Omega Res Novae and Omega Universatis (Is that right?) will certainly give enough challenge. And the inexplicably cowboy-accented Erde Kaiser Sigma for an on-foot battle. I never got the accent. I mean...why?
"Urda Keiser!"
