Show him the results of the crowner. Maybe it'll convince him to change his mind on the image.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.Perhaps the person in the original image's a bit... too girly? I mean, seriously, come to think of it, he looks no different from an actual short-haired girl. I'm aware that he's supposed to serve as an Audience Surrogate for the ladies, but still, it wouldn't hurt to find an image of him appearing a bit more masculine, if only to make him look less like an actual girl.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.
That's probably our best bet.
I thought that the original image got the trope across fairly well, other than the fact that he's mistakable for a girl.

There are probably some better image of him in the Internet. Just looked in the page history and learned he is the Uke guy from Gravitation. Which is a famous anime. Did not recognized him.
If someone is whiling to look for a new image, be sure to pick one that illustrate this trope.
PS: Then again, this
◊ is probably one of the msot 'mainly pics we can find of him and he still could be confused with a woman.

Fast Eddie, since it seems like a good chunk of the people in this thread didn't have any idea who that character is, I highly doubt it's Fan Myopia.
I'm not familiar with the trope, but it seems like, from what I gathered, a Genki Boy which is often a female audience surrogate, a bit girly, and pops up in works with homosexual overtones. That pink-haired boy seems ideal; obviously high on sugar, girly, and the work in which he appeared in is a yaoi, where he is the submissive half. What's wrong with it? What doesn't work? Of course, I might be missing something (I reckon many people missed the "surrogate" bit, so maybe there's more to this).
PS: I also didn't know who the hell he was. Could easily be mistaken for a girl, though.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.
Is he a Audience Surrogate for a female audience? That's a big part of this trope.
The first and second pictures he looks girlier than the current since he looks a bit like he has boobs and long hair. The third one is just weird and blurry.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. Dick
If you can find one where he doesn't look like he has boobs he'd probably be a decent image. I realise it's probably just a trick of how his shirt hangs, but with the long hair it's the sort of reason we looked at replacing the current image.

I think Genki Guy needs to be a separate trope from Keet and we should probably open a TSR to split it off since the examples are currently badly shoehorned into Keet and Genki Girl, and the name Genki Guy points to Genki Girl.
Is there really such a big difference between the Genki Girl and Genki Guy that they can't be the same trope if we just widen the definition to let in men?

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickAnyway should I open a repair shop for this on the whole Spear to Genki Girl? Because "Cutesy, Hyperactive Guy" (the current Laconic") isn't quite spear to Genki Girl.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Well in anime a Genki Guy will be Keet or Bolsterious Brusier I can't think of a single example that doesn't fall under those 2. A few examples progress from one to the other when they grow a spine, such as Naruto
Genki Girl s however are rarely the latter (At least all the time they can have their moments aka Haruhi and Tomo) and are treated a lot like a Keet in story.
