Yeah, but it helps keep it from being Just A Face And A Smile.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI link to them for context as a means of supplying frames of animation that might be less likely to confuse people into mistaking it for him being burned alive. o.o
In any case, I downloaded the video and played the scene in slow motion. Here

I just don't like the Frollo image because I think it's ugly.
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.Think you want to add that to the trope description?
Might help demonstrate one of the reasons why the Slasher Smile is so off-putting.
What's precedent ever done for us?![]()
Not true. Big, happy grins, usually from a Cheerful Child in anime, show the bottom row of teeth.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with the current image, it's creepy as hell and clearly not joyful or friendly. I'm sick of the whole 'if you know the context...' argument that keeps coming up for images lately. The context is displaying the trope to an immediate audience, not considering its use outside of the description page.
"Not true. Big, happy grins, usually from a Cheerful Child in anime, show the bottom row of teeth."
Yes it is :P It is a fact based on how facial muscles work that when the bottom teeth are exposed it's usually due to "forcing" the lips apart too far. (But some people just smile big.) A Duchenne/happy smile generally only bares the top teeth.
Pointing out that cartoon faces differ from RL faces doesn't refute anything about a comment on RL faces.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. For what it's worth, the unsourced manga that's dead last looks like a fanart of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei...the guy with the glasses is Nozomu and the girl might be Chiri.
The "Mr. Hyde" example looks more like a generic grin. (EDIT: Almost a happy one, which goes against the theme of this trope.) The "Comics Joker 1" example has the kind of fierceness that one would associate with the Slasher Smile to begin with while the "Mr. Hyde" one doesn't.

He doesn't have to be obviously comitting an atrocity at the time for it to count as a Slasher Smile.
