200+ bait off the pier and I'm starting to suspect the Blue Marlin doesn't exist :p

I'm so close to completion for March.

Just need the Marlin for fish, and the Goliath Beetle, Rainbow Stag, Great Purple Emperor and Queen Alexandria for bugs.

I think those butterflies may need Hybrid flowers though, which I have growing now.

The night beetles just have ridiculously low spawn rates though.

I found one on an island last night, but I wasn't paying attention and I scared it away.

And here I caught the Marlin today by accident along with Oarfish while grabbing clams for bait to hunt Sturgeon. I've been focusing on the ones that leave in April before going after anything else, and now I only need String Fish. I caught a few of the other Clifftop River fish while looking, and even got apples (my native fruit is cherries and I got peaches in the post) and a bamboo forest on islands while trying for the higher spawn rate there, but no dice yet.

[up]You're in the southern hemisphere I take it? The north has a much shorter list; I don't envy you.

I remember reading a GameFAQs thread about people warring with their Gamecube villagers, like when Patty took someone's rare Mario Statue or something so they made a sign that said "Patty Burgers" with an arrow pointing to her house XD

Chuggaaconroy's New Leaf LP has him basically hate on Shari for most of the LP.

[up][up]Not gonna lie, I hated Yuka in the GCN Animal Crossing. I tried so hard to get her out of my town, everything from hitting her with nets constantly to sending her literal garbage on a daily basis.

The worst part is, I can't even remember why.

Yuka was one of my favorites (and one of my starters). I don't remember hating any villagers, but I could be wrong—it's been a while XD

Go figure. I'm shaking trees for branches in the afternoon and I shake down a wasp nest (and proceed to get stung bc dumb me did not know at the time you can hold B to run), but tonight I actually try to get a wasp nest and all I end up with are branches and acorns. Anyone know the odds for wasp nests falling out of trees?

[up]There's five that spawn naturally on the island per day. You also get one per uncharted island, assuming you don't wind up with rare fruit trees or bamboo instead.

A tip for catching wasps, too; equip the net, come at the tree from the front and at a slight angle. You'll automatically face the nest if it drops, which means you can just press A for an easy catch.

So I got another wasp nest when I wasn't ready... (funny how I don't get them every time I am) But now I can't get the DIY recipe for medicine? Is it because I bought some earlier? I talked to both Hazel and Axel and they didn't give me the recipe, even though Hazel outright said you have to put medicine on the wasp stings... did I glitch the game somehow or is it just dumb? Or do I need to wait until my island is more populated?

Double check your inventory and your DIY recipes. If you still can't find it, I'm going to assume that you broke the game and have condemned the entirety of the island to relying on Big Pharma's jacked prices.

Edit: You might also look at the Nookling recipes. I think they'd have the courtesy of giving you the option to buy the medicine DIY, since they have it for pretty much everything else.

[up]x4 My villagers (Louie and Mina at the time) didn't give me the recipe for medicine when I talked to them after getting stung first time. Second time, Mina gave me the recipe, and Louie gave me a free sample. Go figure.

[up] I straight up just bought medicine from Resident Services the first time I got stung. Second time was when I learned I could talk to residents and get the recipe... maybe it needs to happen again for them to actually give it to me? Either that or I've broken the game somehow. Also my luck with wasp nests is ridiculous - when I'm actually trying all I get are branches and acorns, but when I don't even have my net out I get one and am given no time to react.

I have to say its rather BS to introduce the idea of DIY bridges for the one you need to build and then lock away any future ones behind an expensive cost rather than having them require a lot of raw materials.

Yeah I get the idea they don't want players rushing through things too quick, but when why suggest you can build them yourself than having them have a low initial cost that's increased later? Yeah people would be upset about Nook jacking up the price, but at least that's not suggesting that crafting is an option for a significant island element and then arbitrarily taking it away.

Still waiting for a Legion of Losers movie...

That kinda baffled me, too. I would love for there to be more practical uses for my resources outside of tool maintenance and the occasional hot item splurge. It'd certainly give me a legitimate reason to go out and gather loads of wood.

I remember in the GameCube days I had a second account as a villain who tried to take over the town by making everyone wear his clothes and say his catchphrases. XD It was fun! Anyone else done similar stuff?

Well, apparently I have to get new villagers from the campsite now instead of Nook Mile Islands. Meaning I can only get one villager per day at the fastest and I'm going have to wait longer for a new villager and other new stuff if I don't like the villager currently visiting.

This game is great. I mean that. That's what makes the immense amount of bewildering little decisions the devs made so frustrating.

[up] I'm going to give you a small amount of spoilers: once you "convince" the first camper to move in and get their plot set up, Tom Nook will give you the option to purchase plots, seemingly allowing more villagers to move-in faster.

Or at least I think it's faster because I haven't got beyond that yet.

I lost my old memory card for my first Gamecube town so I made an MS Paint map of what it looked like (at least as much as I can remember XD) I distinctly remember the 'river island' being right next door! Jambette lived there.

Someone posted on the Switch subreddit a really helpful website for Bugs/Fish.

Makes me glad to know I don't have to be concerned about the Blue Marlin since it comes back quickly.

And one of the bugs I thought I needed I can't actually catch.
