The number of possible conjugations doesn't have to correlate with their regularity. And what do you mean by unnecessary?
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.Tzetze: I'm talking about having different forms for a verb for "I", "You", He/She/It", "You (plural)", "We", "They", etc.
English proved that you can have two conjugations for a verb and it would be all fine. Not sure why other languages didn't, but this just proves English's superiority over other ones anyway.
"Who wants to hear about good stuff when the bottom of the abyss of human failure that you know doesn't exist is so much greater?"-WraithWhat with all the borrowed words and stuff... still, it's not so much that it's irregular, but that it's made of tons of tiny little rules, and the more of them you know, the more accurate a guess will be. Although there are always cases of Its Pronounced Tro PAY.
But yeah, Tzetze, Double Illusion of Transparency, I thought I was clearly meaning "logical" as in "sounds like formal logic language" or "is formally consistent with logic".
But yeah, that's why Spanish is one of my favourites, it's the most regular language I know save Arabic, and it has a 100% correlation between "how it's written" and "how it's pronounced". Except borrowings, epecially english names. They'll say "Tim BAR-ton instead" of "Tim BOO-rton" for example. Or "Sarkosee instead of Sar K Ozee". Basically whatever the people on the telly say goes.
'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?I believe Welsh is fairly consistent in terms of spelling and pronunciation. The only exception which springs to mind is "sut mae" ("how are you?"), which in some regions is pronounced "shwt mae".
Of course, there are probably others that I simply haven't encountered yet.

'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?No, "sut" rhymes with "foot" instead of "boot", and "mae" is pronounced closer to the English "my".
Most people just say "S'mae" anyway.

Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffWelsh spelling is perfectly consistent with Welsh pronunciation. It just looks weird to English speakers because some of the letters we use as consonants represent vowels in Welsh.

I don't know what you would say about arabic.
I keep confusing the y for the spanish y (which means "and")
But then what would we have for a Acceptable Langauge Target?
"Who wants to hear about good stuff when the bottom of the abyss of human failure that you know doesn't exist is so much greater?"-WraithModern Hebrew is fine by me. Classic Hebrew was awesome, but then they had to go and put yiddish into it.
'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?^^^ Aye, my mum's the same. In Welsh, it's pronounced "uh" and means "the".
^^ Esperanto, maybe? You want to be careful, I think Fast Eddie has some Welsh ancestry.
^ Enlighten me: what is wrong with Yiddish? *knows nothing of Hebrew or Yiddish*

They could have borrowed directly from Arabic, English, French, German, like everybody else. Why yiddish? There was a significant fraction of the population that didn't speak that language.

'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?-_-; I thought that would be Spanish.

'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?Well, yeah, as in weird words like Shadenfreude or Gestalt, not MOST OF THE FREAKING LANGUAGE. Which is already full of latin and greek derivatives which could just as easily be hebrewized and derivated directly from Greek and Latin, and even, though linguistic Calque
, made full-hebrew.
Spanish reminds me of being forced to take a class I didn't want because of schedule difficulties and being disappointed when a class I did want showed up the year AFTER I left (it was Russian). Spanish reminds me of nothing but frustration and occasionally food. In fact I have never spent large amounts of time with or grew up with Mexicans. Until fairly recently that is.
The happiest times of my life were living in the Jewish portion of West Hollywood. There were some old women who would speak in Yiddish to one another on the benches in front of our apartment complex. Others around us spoke Russian a lot. As such Yiddish and Russian have a very nice homey and calm effect on me.

Arla: Damn near every langauge in the whole world has irregular verbs.
And I'd take some irregular verbs over unnecessary verb conjugation.
