-likes the plot- And it's basically meant to answer a lot of plot threads left by the other games.
I think Sleep can be hit or miss. The gameplay is smoother than II's, and enemies (especially bosses) hit harder so you really can't just button-mash (though once you get powerful enough and know how to deal with enemies, this becomes a non-factor). The Reaction (Triangle button) commands from II are gone (as much as I like seeing them, I truly think the Reaction command system made the game much easier than it should've been).
I feel Sleep has the best action system of the series, but I also think the series' combat is mostly about flashiness, so most of the challenge is left up to the player (although Critical Mode is supposed to alleviate that). I'd consider the 3D Ninja Gaiden series more strategic on a general level than Kingdom Hearts, really (in the end, it's all fun to me though).

The plot of the first two games just had me going "...eh?" most of the time. The most fun I had in them was running around the Disney worlds. That and 2's opening. The story itself didn't stick with me too much and the gameplay sure as fuck didn't. I like some of the character design. The Heartless and Nothing I like design wise for the most part. The characters not from Disney are typically hit or miss in that regard though.
I am quite happy to hear that this Birth by Sleep thing does something else combat wise. AMAZINGLY HAPPY.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahThey're keeping it for the rest of the games in the series, it seems. Both Re:Coded and 3D have a similar system.
One of my few regrets about being born female is the inability to grow a handlebar mustache. -LandstanderIMO Knights in the Nightmare on the DS and PSP, especially on hard (and presumably Nightmare) mode is a good example of strategic but fast paced action, though the action works differently than your typical game.
There's a lot of strategy in the form of choosing which knights to raise and bring to battle, and deciding who goes where on the field (since once the battle starts it's tough to move a character), deciding what weapons to bring into battle and how you're going to break objects open so you can get more weapons and items to recruit more knights.
But then once the battle starts, you still have to execute your plan. Dodging the enemies bullets so the knights you have placed down can kill who they need to kill and break open the objects you meant for them to, all in the alotted time frame.
When I played on easy mode I found it to be dull because while the bosses could be tough, the enemy fights were boring and I'd just wonder when the next boss would show up. But once I played on hard mode, the mob encounters became just as thrilling, with me trying to meet my personal objectives while still clearing the map. Of course YMMV as I know many people found the game to be too convoluted for it's own good.

Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadI think it's probably best to go full retard for an action RPG, there's a reason why Diablo's formula of manically kleptomaniacal munchkinry is so widely copied.
TWEWY is strategic and action based. It slightly loses points for requiring you to stare at two screens at the same time. But i really like the way it was handled other than, requires you to plan out your pins and learn different ways to beat someone (albeit at times you may find that you don't have the right pins and need to reload a save but still it works given the limitations of the DS)
I prefer strategic because controlling multiple PC is had in a B Bashing game. as for the speed as long as it's flowing i don't care about the speed. I don't like TB when the enemy has their turn for like 5 time longer than your.
In the quiet of the night, the Neocount of Merentha mused: How long does evolution take, among the damned?Ssh, don't say that out loud! Manwiththe Plan might hear!
Anyway, I tend to prefer fast-paced RP Gs, even though I like stats. Part of the reason I like Kot OR so much is that it combines both.
No. I never pause the game during combat. If you do, leave now and never come back.
Against all tyrants.Action RP Gs? I wish someone would pair the Monster Hunter system with a top tier (skippable) plot, or that an existing series that is popular plotwise would take up a similar system. Nothing like your giant monsters having personality.
I like both kinds. But a good blend of both aspects would be great, instead of choosing one or the other.
Sonic hates SOPA

BbS has it's own problem in that command fusion means that your deck tends to contain commands you need to level rather than commands that are actually useful, though
