Could do with a better image: She Is All Grown Up

Her face is barely different and you can't see her body; the change isn't that consequential.

We could definitely do better.

Yeah, it looks more like they just switched animators than there's actually an age up.

Shiori Fujisaki, age 8 and age 18, in Tabidachi no Uta:

[up][up] She still looks a bit too childlike in the second picture for me to really want to call it this trope but it's better. She looks 3 in the first and about 11 in the second. So, better but not good.

Maybe we could pull something from the musical montage at the beginning of The Swan Princess? [1]

I'd gladly submit a before and after picture of Motoko Kusanagi if she were an example of the trope.

Uh lets see... Maybe Naru and/or Mutsume from Love Hina...

I was looking for a good image of the two of them from the manga... and I dont think it counts too much since Keitaro's memory merged the two of them [1].

Now shinobu might work. (you can probably find better images of them though)

Oh right, I totally forgot about Shinobu there.

She only looks a few months older. The redheaded girl is better, but still not great.

[up][up] I did too...use the second pic with one from the start of the manga that identifies her by name so it's clear that it's the same character.

[up] Nope, Shinobu definitely fits, the change between her appearance at the start of the manga and the end is almost shocking.

They don't look enough like the same person, and there's not a clear age difference. It looks like one girl, and then a different girl with longer hair.

[up] I agree, the first pic definitely needs to be switched out.

Even so, I don't think that black and white does this trope well. It's much harder to tell that they're the same person but older without colouration as a clue.

[1][2][3] Young Setsuna and Konoka?

Let me see if I can find some color pics of both of them Young and old.

[up] Can we get some not fan art as well? This is more of an in media trope. Not fan artist draws the characters at different ages than they are in media.

Shows with a Time Skip would work best for this.

Maybe Chi-Chi from Dragonball.

Its a colored panel of a Manga page [1]

[up] Now that I look at the page... Time Skips dont really count do they? its more of a "flash back to childhood" thing

Nojiko from One Piece. Not sure if it's an example because she's a minor character and is an adult except in flashbacks.

Oh, here's Slappy's buttermilk ad, if that can count.

[up][up] It looks like fan art though. That's the issue. It might just be a coloured panel, but it's been so coloured that it doesn't look like the original piece any more.

Okay, if that first Shiori pic isn't good enough, tryin' another approach. Here are now two pics of Shiori and her childhood friend Naoto, both in ages 8 and 18 looks.

I personnally like the second one a lot, as you can see in that one the two visibly not in good terms (they're quarrelling) while children, while they visibly look in love with each other while teenagers.

I was looking for something from Ai Yori Aoshi but I cant find any images of them young.. I am going to have to dig out the DV Ds.

[up][up]Doesn't count if they arnt a Childhood Friend and a Love Interest.

[up][up][up] They still look 11 to me. Not like teenagers. Especially with both of them there. It just reinforces the idea that they're in middle school.
