Working Title: Meta
Genre: Science Fiction/Superheroes
Short Version: After a Mass Empowering Event, Metahumans and humans deal with a new reality. All the while ominous forces stir in the shadows.
Long Version: Set in the the year 2025, the story follows a Flying Brick Superhero, a Badass Normal detective, and a reclusive Telepath as they deal with the consequences of a catastrophic Mass Empowering Event. The story explores intricate social and political machinations as metahumans and muggles strive for primacy in the wake of the Event, the intelligent and internally consistent use of powers in the setting, and attempts to balance the deeply personal struggles of the characters with the epic scope of the narrative. Hovering over terrestrial concerns is a cryptic warning about a hostile alien threat.
@Mazrick: One of my OEL manga/graphic novel in work has a similar theme, with a great focus on what if humans (especially teenagers) could gain superhuman powers, and the struggles of the superhumans with their enviroment and themselves.

Thórinn's Company. (an awful Tolkien-related pun).
Genre: Fantasy/Steampunk
Short version: Caper story set in a Dungeon Punk version of Iceland/Norway in a saga-influenced world.
Long version: In a parallel Earth based on the supernatural one of the Icelandic legendary sagas where evil beserks fight young noblemen, heroes fall in love with beautiful noblewomen, shieldmaidens fight as men and seductive Finnish (read: Sámi) witches and sinister Finnish wizards cast mysterious spells, dwarves, elves and trolls are the creations of human genetic experiments in synthetic biology, created as slaves to work in hazardous industries and work huge steam-powered machines alongside government-owned thralls who fall into the position through birth or debt bondage. Huge cities include workhouses meant to provide for the destitute and genetically unfit and inferior as well as freed human thralls.
The protagonist is Bjarki a thirteen-year-old foundling doomed to life as a government thrall in a corporate-owned poorhouse. He's also half-troll (in the broader Norse sense). Thórinn Thráinsson, a dwarvish fence and The Fagin adopted Bjarki and raised him as a thief in his own gang of street kids. One day Thórinn is visited by a sorcerer, a kraptaskald from Finnmark who asks him to steal a sunstone from a mountain fortress. The problem is that a rival gang leader and berserker Skallagrim the Quick, wants the sunstone as well.

The road goes ever on. -TolkienA girl is cryogenically frozen in a Freak Lab Accident. When she is awoken, she finds that thousands of years have passed. The human race is now extinct, and Earth has become a Fantasy Kitchen Sink of various strange creatures battling for dominance. She sets out in search of a way to get home while dealing with her new Living MacGuffin status as the last human.
Looking for some stories?I think I'd explain that pretty early on. If anything, I think it would be more focused on learning how Earth went downhill.
Looking for some stories?
Since I've never seen it, I don't think it would end up being too similar. I'm going for a serious, gritty tone anyway.
A work tentatively entitled Happy Go Lucky: Being a Cautionary Tale for those Born Fortunate:
Short version: In a succession crisis involving a rare variety of magic, our hero is a smartass. And it doesn't go over well.
Very, very long version:
When the kingdom of Halse was surrounded by hostile forces, its king turned to an unlikely hero: a minor noblemen whose father bought his title, unfairly sentenced to death for treason. This man had been born with luck magic- the skill to bend bad luck to his will, to drive it away from himself or make it stick to his enemies. He led the people of Halse against their enemies' armies, snatching their freedom from the jaws of the Middlands' most powerful monarchs- and when the old king died soon after the victory (my, but it's remarkable how these things seem to turn out), this man reluctantly took the throne. His name was Civan Niirkon- Civan the Wolverine- and he was a hero the likes of which the world has not seen since.
Or so the history books all say.
The Niirim- the 'wolverine's children' descended from this great king- have ruled in Halse for two hundred and fifty years. Against impossible odds, there has been a luck mage in the family every second or third generation, and the throne has skipped haphazardly through their ranks, from father to nephew to third cousin, passed down from one mage to another. Clearly Civan I's good luck has stuck- maybe a little too much of it. Because in the reign of the twelfth Niirim king of Halse, there were exactly three children of the royal blood born with luck magic.
Siferel Ernes-Niirim, son of a sovereign duke with Niirim blood, finds himself eligible for the succession- and party to viscous quarreling among Halse's nobility, and subject of keen interest from abroad. Whoever can put their own man on the country's throne gains an valuable weapon in the wars and intrigue that have always dominated the continent, and they're not planning to leaving good cards on the table. Sifer's undaunted- he plans to put himself or the best of his cousins on the throne, prove himself to his parents, and end the constant interference of the world's great powers in his Duchy's affairs once and for all! Or....something.

"Suddenly, as he was listening, the ceiling fell in on his head."
Isn't that an Oliver Twist/The Hobbit combination? There's some thread around of your around here that says that....Anyway, although if someone told me "I'm going to make a futuristic Icelandic Saga that's also a crossover between Oliver Twist and the Hobbit", I would have laughed, but written like that it looks like it'd work perfectly. They're pretty different works, so I'm not sure how you're going to reconcile gritty streets with high fantasy- although the fantasy and the Sagas would seem to work better together than the Oliver Twist part- not to mention selling us on the setting. If you can pull that off, though, you will make at least one nerd's day
It's not really a crossover between The Hobbit and Oliver Twist, but more of a plot combination. Crossover to me would be "Dickens' Oliver is transported to Middle-Earth" or something.
Now I'm having images of Movie!Thorin singing "You've Got To Rob A Dragon Or Two."
THORIN You see, Bilbo...
In this life, one thing counts
In the hill, large amounts
I'm afraid these don't grow on trees
You've got to rob a dragon or two.
You've got to rob a dragon or two, boys
You've got to rob a dragon or two
DWARVES Large amounts don't grow on trees
You've got to rob a dragon or two.
The road goes ever on. -TolkienIf I actually saw Movie!Thorin singing that, I would die laughing. (I was actually in that play once...) But any combination of two works is, in my mind, a 'crossover'. I'm a heathen.
Any feedback on my premise? It doesn't sound boring?

"Suddenly, as he was listening, the ceiling fell in on his head."One of Fagin's pickpockets (read: a random extra). Nobody important, but I did get to sing that song.
Edit: Glad you like it, assuming you could understand the premise in spite of the many, many typos. (Now fixed.)

"Suddenly, as he was listening, the ceiling fell in on his head."Name: Madcap Mythos
Short version: The Cthulhu Mythos + Dragonfable
Long version: A humorous take on the works of HP Lovecraft and other writers, Madcap Mythos combines all the (over exaggerated) terror and cosmic entities of a Cosmic Horror Story, while adding puns, references, and a hilarious knack for stupidity.
The story follows the protagonist as they enroll to Miskatonic High School, where they face deadly threats on a regular basis, dealing with enemies including a MegaCorp, a group of sinister mages, the inhabitants of the town of Innsmouth and other general crazy folk.
Also being attacked by living foliage known as an Am-Bush.
You'll laugh, you'll cry and you might even go insane when reading Madcap Mythos!

Note to self: Pick less edgy username next time.A Cyberpunk story set in a dystopian future where the oppressive regime makes an example of criminals and rebels by rounding them up and banishing them to their own planet. A young delinquent falls victim to this, and in his quest to find a way back home, he becomes a powerful leader and plans a revolt.

Looking for some stories?Concept that I really need feedback on
Concept: When the remains of the Union of Star Systems have finally fallen apart, the crew and passengers of a group of spaceships are turned from citizens to space faring colonists. Wandering the galaxy for six months, they find themselves a habitable planet. Once they land however, they most now deal with both the forces of nature and the native intelligent species with their newly made god.

I actually need feedback for this. I think it'll lean more toward Science Fantasy than outright Science Fiction.
Note to self: Pick less edgy username next time.
I think the god bit needs some elaboration before I can comment.
Once upon a time in space, a mighty space empire fired a planet-destroying laser at a peaceful yet prosperous world. Sound familiar? The thing is, the world is 55 light years away, and the laser is limited to the speed of light. The mighty space empire didn't live to see the beam make its first light year. This gave the people of the world plenty of time to leave, turning the peaceful yet prosperous planet into a ghost world. However, for one reason or another, there were people who stayed behind. This is their story.

[I LIVE AGAIN]
I'd read it
Concept: The protagonist quest in a world of Mons to collect all of them and become a champion. Sound familiar? The difference is that the mons are semi-murderous mini Eldritch Abominations/Starfish Aliens in a Dieselpunk version of a Pathfinder style world, with Tolkien style races and Reality Warping dragons.
My boyfriend volunteered to illustrate this.
EDIT: Feedback is nice

Note to self: Pick less edgy username next time.Dangerous Loners in Dangerous Times.
A rag-tag group of misfits (psychologically imbalanced misfits!) band together to defeat an SD Nyartholep expy that has possessed a wealthy industrialist. It's just that Lady Luck likes to spit in their eyes whenever they attempt to do something.
Here's a description of a selected scene from the book.
Keith heads into a bar, has a drink. The bartender mentions rumors of bears wandering around the town. Keith has a second drink. The person next to Keith says that's ridiculous, there are no bears around. A third drink. The bartender tells him that there are indeed bears because he saw a bear rifle through his garbage. Fourth drink. Keith's friend makes a bet that Keith can wrestle with a bear and win. Fifth drink. Keith has a sixth drink, and decides to take him up on that offer. After a seventh drink, he decides to go find himself a bear.
Any opinions?
"Monsters are tragic beings. They are born too tall, too strong, too heavy. They are not evil by choice. That is their tragedy."For my 14 days of Valentines challenge I have two concepts for stories, which, obviously, isn't enough, but so far they're the only love related stories that kind of fit the "Eldritch" theme.
Concept 1: Mahnnorak
Backstory, Mahnnorak is a Death God, as in, he watches over the dead. The story won't be about him though. Sort of.
The story is about a man who helps a woman who is about to be violated by a group of street thugs. The woman however is on a quest to find a lost temple hidden beneath the city. Together with his two best friends, who are also a couple, they set out underground. But dangers lie ahead, like murderers and rapists, but they aren't the only ones they have to look out for.
Spoilers:
The guy is homosexual, though feels a connection with the woman. Said woman turns out to be the spirit of a deceased man who borrowed the corpse of this woman. The spirit of the woman has been following them, but not to harm them but to protect her own body, as Mahnnorak might be able to give the woman her body back as well as give the man's spirit a physical body again.
It ends when they reach the temple, where the rapists of the woman hide, and decide to rape the female companion of the protagonist while her boyfriend is held back. However, before they can make a move time is stopped, and the protagonist, the spirit inside the woman's body and the woman approach the shrine inside the temple, after which they are surrounded by black smoke, and Mahnnorak is talking to them. When everything has been done, the woman comes back to life, and they see all the rapists burned to a crisp, but also the two companions dead due to their brains literally boiling inside their skulls, due to seeing Mahnnorak's true form.
The story ends with both leaving the temple, the protagonist returning with a group to recover the corpses of his friends, only to find that their corpses are gone, and only the burnt bodies remaining. The dude then travels to another planet where he meets someone and gets a relationship with, and it ends with him seeing two people getting married who look just like his friends.
Concept 2
No title this time. In this world angels and demons are different than ours. After God banished Lucifer and some other angels for quite some time, he finally figured out how fucking stupid that idea was, so now angels and demons are given a choice on which side they want to be. In fact, demons find it more pleasurable to get people to Hell without actually doing much to influence the world, and even have honor codes, like angels do.
Oh, and angels and demons are born as eldritch abominations, although they can semi-permanently take a more comprehensable form. It's semi-permanent because it won't take any effort maintaining this form, and it's treated as if it was a permanent form.
This story is about an angel and a demon who are in a relationship, but want to consumate said relationship in a more physical way, which is why they probe the brains of individuals to gain some ideas for a form they can pick.
Spoilers:
They go for lesbian couple, after going through other interesting ideas like brother and sister, two ponies / unicorns / other hooved mammals, girl and tentical monster, opposite gender conjoined twin, and a few other. They just think lesbians are more fitting, as apparently most people find it hot in some way, that and this one guy they got the idea from actually had a great design for their appearances.
