Hardly likely to start this for a while, but I had an idea for a Neverwhere / Harry Potter crossover. Basically the Dursleys drop lil Harry off in an alley in London and he falls through the cracks into London-Below. There would be a decent chance of Lupin following/have already ended up there. And a even smaller chance that Harry finds Door's little sister Ingress.

However, it turns out that someone in Lily's family tree was in a similar position to Door and sent/lost to London-Above for their own protection. And the family power was to deny things, which is how Lily saved Harry's life, not any ancient sacrificial magic.

You must agree, my plan is sheer elegance in its simplicity! My Tumblr

I have an idea for a silly comedy which is basically self-explanatory from the title: Bruce and Elvis Go To Mars.

For some reason, I parsed that as Bruce Springsteen, not Bruce Lee.

I'm etching out some characters that are a personality-inverted Asian Gal with White Guy couple - a very sheltered, Shrinking Violet white guy who verges on The Ingenue (Yes, I do have a backstory to explain this) and a Deconstructed Manic Pixie Dream Girl Asian-American girl. Only the girl... is kind of dead after having gone off the deep end. Right now, there are two versions of her - a Living Memory that thinks she's the actual thing with decent-sized holes in her memory who is acting through the guy as a Split Personality and a Yandere ghost who is the actual one. The story is about the guy growing into his own and learning to make decisions for himself and the girl(ish) trying to figure out why she died.

I'm still working a lot of kinks out, but if there are any thoughts on potential improvements to the concept, I'd be grateful.

[up][up] Now I'm thinking Bruce, Bruce and Elvis Go to Mars!... Sounds like something Donald Barthelme would have written, if he'd hung out more with Harlan Ellison.

A few ideas from a Silmarillion-inspired collection of short stories.

In chronological order:

Gods create the world, then almost destroy it because of family issues.

An “angel” tries to become a mortal, goes well until the Gods remember that he owes them something, dies.

A paragon of virtue gets killed while the Gods do nothing. His son sells his soul to avoid that, gets killed anyway.

A fanatical (but not evil) priest and a semi-agnostic soldier lead an army on a vampire hunt and discuss philosophy.

A man hunts monsters to bring his loved one back from the dead.

A man from a cursed family tries to repay for his ancestors’ sins, goes through a Trauma Conga Line and dies for nothing (but the bad guy gets hit by Laser-Gided Karma).

A second-in-line-to-the-throne commits numerous atrocities to become king, ends up becoming an undead king.

A chosen one goes to kill a Big Bad, has doubts as to which sides is really bad.

Same guy tries to play a Flat Earth Atheist, the Gods don’t like that very much.

In a world where magic stuff exists alongside the modern world, a kid who was thought to just have severe anxiety issues is re-evaluated and shows psychic/magic abilities. He's taken off his meds and sent to a kafkaesque wizard school, and it turns out that his apparent misdiagnosis was not as misdiagnosed as previously thought. Pretty much, things just go downhill from there.

My current idea involves a mostly American-esque country (and, by extension, a mostly Earth-esque world) where superheroes exist and are employed or conscripted into serving their countries. It starts out as a fairly upbeat story about a small-time superhero team that gets wind of a plot to kidnap the mayor of The City... which is actually a plot to murder the leader of one of the strongest superhero teams in the world... which intertwines with a plot to utterly obliterate the world... which all begins when a Complete Monster decides to murder some guy's wife and rearrange his memories for shits and giggles. Ultimately, the story revolves around an entire, possibly Crapsack World trying to save itself, and one man trying just as hard to destroy it out of love.

The sudden emergence of psychic powers and the appearance of soul-devouring manifestations of negativity known as the Corrosion point toward terrible things to come. The protagonist, Russell, rescues a girl named Lyra from a strange group of assailants and the two become roommates. Over the course of the story, though, it becomes apparent that Lyra's past is linked with what's going on, and that she has a pivotal role in the oncoming apocalypse. Russell and his girlfriend Liz soon find themselves swept up in a quest to liberate the world from an assimilation plot and save Lyra's soul.

The following is a concept I have had for a webcomic:

Andy lives in the across the country, in the city with his 22 year old brother. He goes to school every day like any other teenager, and can only wrap his mind around being alone. He also has the tendency to bite off more than he can chew when he gets into obviously one sided fights. Then one night when he goes off on a walk to blow off steam, he comes across a random mugging, and feels the urge to step in. However, this turns out to be a bad choice when he finds out that it is a trap. The mugger injects him with a small vial of a strange liquid, and Andy passes out. He wakes up to find that he is now one of The Keeper's Agents, alongside a talkative ghoul, and he must now help keep the modern world from colliding with the world of supposed myth and fantasy. Oh, and since The Keeper loathes humans, he has decided to turn Andy into a werewolf that he can keep in line with two silver bonds and Andy's wrists, allowing Andy full control.

A group of individually shown "threads" in an entirely fictitious Internet Forum tell the story of several users trying to improve a forum amidst plenty of trolls, unconstructive users, sock puppets, and fourth-wall breaking cloudcuckoolanders. Because you only see the threads, you learn very little about the characters themselves, and the fact that the story advances thread by thread allows for Noodle Incidents to be mentioned, Arc Words to be spammed all over the fictional forum before you know exactly what is going on, and In Medias Res character development. Most characters are flat, however, but it may add to the feel, as many forum users appear to be flat to other forum users. Threads vary from humor, satire, Very Special Episodes, Show Within A Shows, and plot advancement. Very experimental.

And a whole lot of straw.

How about this -

It's a 'reverse-detective' story told from the killer's point of view as he tries to get away with murder and outsmart the world-famous detective. The setting would be an isolated resort island / cabin / hotel / castle, with many allusions to the golden age of detective fiction (Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, etc). The story would be told as an open-ended Adventure Game that allows the player to use multiple methods to commit the crime and avoid detection.

[up]Sounds somewhat interesting. I'm not into detective novels, so I don't know if it's cliched or original.

Okay, here's my concept I've been thinking about for quite awhile now: Rivulets.

The story focuses on six people who live in or near the city of Parallax, the only dry land on a planet covered in water as a result of a magical accident from seventy years ago, which created a fifty-year rain that flooded everywhere except for Parallax, which was protected by a force-field created by a spell cast with the great wizard Ilast's dying breaths.. Two are soldiers, living on a boat and work as soldiers or scouts, searching the planet for land. Two are magicians, hiding from the unfair laws made by the city leader, Fortis, that say that any magic user shall be captured and executed. Two are normals, who find themselves wrapped up in the mystery of a mysterious factory on the far side of the city. The six meet, and while running away from the police, sail away on a boat called the Speeder. They run into other ships from the other side of the planet, and together they decide to liberate the magicians. And so, they set out on a sort of roundabout quest to gather an army to side against Fortis. However, there is a mole, ratting them out to the enemy - paranoia and uncertainty settle in, and they all must question: what cause is worth bloodshed?

Among their mole problems, there are also external forces: sea serpents that breath ice breathe, turnrobe magicians, angry birds that control the wind, etc. Each side is pushed to greater extremes, and the looming threat of the fifty-year rain that flooded the land last time returning - and this time, there wouldn't be a great wizard around to stop it.

So a Knight Templar with You Gotta Have Blue Hair has to fly to a Planet of Hats to claim a MacGuffin once mentioned by her father before he died.

Along the way he meets Cloud Cuckoolander Blessed with Suck, a Card-Carrying Villain that contemplates the Fridge Logic of PS 1 era video games, and a talking gerbil.

Hilarity ensues!

Oh wait, no, I have a better one! :D

A romantic comedy that seems to be entirely played straight for the first 90% of it. Then, in the last little stretch, we learn that the male lead's actually a serial killer and that, while we were having our nice little romantic comedy, a slasher movie's been going on that we just weren't seeing. The male lead kills the female lead (or maybe the female lead is left as the Final Girl) and we are left to be depressed.

At first I didn't realize I needed all this stuff...

[up][up] Could be interesting.

My latest story is about the son of a Mafia boss going to college. He has no interest in school, but his dad thinks him and the sons of rich and powerful men being stuck in the same general area means he'll have to make friends (or blackmail-friends) with some of them. Niccolo recruits the members of his rowing team to be his personal thugs and spends his freshman year trying to gain control of everyone as his school so he can quit studying and comply to his father's belief that "College is for networking!" The only thing he insists on doing fair-and-square without question is rowing competitions.

Actually, forget my earlier idea. It's stupid. Here's a new idea I have:

Modern day Earth. All is normal. But then a Cosmic Horror moves into their galaxy and its presence has a abrasive effect on humans. Just after the horror arrives through a wormhole, every human on earth begins to grow stupid. Their minds cannot handle the presence of this supreme being and they cave in on themselves. In a matter of a couple of minutes everyone's minds reset to a primal state.

Now at this point, humanity is... gone. In its departure it leaves 6 billion hairless apes (figuratively). What I need help figuring out is what would happen to the planet. Planes would fall out of the sky and cars would crash. Would the power shut off right away? How would these primal people behave? Would they get violent? With all their inhibitions stripped away I'm sure they'd do some wild stuff.

I'm still working with the idea. One variation I might try is the Cosmic Horror scaring everyone, and they get so scared they regress to a primal state. I might also try a transformation approach. Not only is everyone dumbed down, they also transform by the horror's presence into monkey-like humanoids.

Any ideas?
