Well, they are showing reruns of 90's shows on Teennick, but I realize 1. this is on Teennick, The Network Formerly Known as Noggin, and not Nickelodeon itself, and 2. it hasn't explicitly been said that "Oh we're doing this cuz 20 years ago we blah blah blah," just a convenient way to win the nostalgic vote.
Plus for the past three weeks it's only been Doug, Kenan And Kel, All That, and Clarissa Explains It All, even though the advertisements feature an assortment of other shows as well- not sure when they're planning to switch that up, if at all.
"You got a match?" "Uh, yeah, my butt and your... uh... butt."One of the teasers for "The 90s Are All That" shows Hey Arnold. I have to see this.

Apparently, when and if the block takes off in the ratings (relatively speaking, given the narrow target audience and shitty timeslot) they're going to start taking votes on Facebook for shows to add to the block.
And yeah, Nick's not doing jack shit. Deep down I knew that much.
But I don't hate Nick just because it panders to the young instead of the young at heart. A lot of people seem to hold that against it. My attitude is that decent DVDs would be nice, and so long as they're doing reruns anyway it wouldn't kill them to slot in some older stuff, but I don't expect them to stop trying new things and become a nostalgia network.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I think they'll start airing Digimon Xros Wars.
I am completely, utterly, and thoroughly done with Sola Sonica and 2DNickelodeon also needs to air George Lopez less. That show sucked (and it only stayed on the air as long as it did because Sandra Bullock produced it).

More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/Cartoon Brew covers the 20th Anniversary of The Ren And Stimpy Show!
.... oh. And Doug and Rugrats. Those premiered on this day too.
.... what's that?
.... CB DOESN'T mention those other two in the article, you say?!
...... everyone's singing their praises about how The Ren and Stimpy Show changed the face of animation, you say?

Well, happy anniversary, everybody. *vvvvvvvvvvvvvvv*
Really, all three changed the face of animation. Before Nick, each studio's cartoons were homogenous for business reasons. Nicktoons were the first to intentionally be distinct in style and feel in spite of all being funded by the same corporation. Regardless of content, you have to admit that's a pretty big accomplishment, and it may not have lasted if Nick had a first batch of any lesser caliber. (Granted, this seems silly and commonplace now, which just goes to show how massive an accomplishment this was.)
A toast to Jinkins, Klasky, Csupó, Germain, and Kricfalusi, for paving the way for all the rest—and here's to another twenty years. Drink up.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I do not support what Amid did today. Amid has a history of being a jerk, and today is no different.
I agree that Ren and Stimpy was more influential than the other two Nicktoons (though not as popular as Rugrats), but I think ignoring the anniversary of the other two Nicktoons is stupid.
signature lineI really hope I'm not the only one who doesn't like Ren and Stimpy. I've seen a few episodes and I find modern Spongebob to be more entertaining.
So today's the anniversary of the Nicktoon, hmm? I don't see why anyone would expect anything from Nick. It's now literally nothing more than Spongebob and their three awful sitcoms. Nothing. I prefer Nick@Nite because of That '70s Show.

1991, but yeah.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. The Simpsons had way more effect on the 1990's in animation than Ren and Stimpy did. The Simpsons proved that animators and writers could get away with more and Ren and Stimpy was a byproduct of that. Meanwhile, Ren and Stimpy was heavily influenced by Bob Clampett and Ralph Bakshi. John K. was even a protege of Bakshi.

Well, the anniversary's in five days. What's Nick doing?
Jack shit, if advertising's anything to go by.
