Sure. I'm going to experiment a bit and see if I could stay logged in while I'm out, but don't expect anything out of it.

So, I've completed three of the Church of Dark Starlight's top members, and I have to say I'm quite proud of their deadliness. I have four more planned that I will eventually make (eventually, because rolling up level 15-20 NP Cs whose levels are split between multiple classes is a hassle).

I don't believe I gave out the experience from the battles with the shifters before we came to the town. Sorry about that. Felgrove, Tramlaw, Seren, Agia, and Zenfyr all gained 175 EXP since the last rest, bringing Felgrove, Tramlaw, and Seren up to 737 EXP, and Agia and Zenfyr up to 437 (I'm assuming we rested before coming, since everyone had full health).

Two things:

1: I'm rolling up Nothing now. Though I kinda wish I could have a better character generator than this one...this one's fine, though.

2: I've infected another friend with The TvTropes Virus. And he might join a game. This game, specifically. He's not decided, yet.

1. Cool. I hope you roll well.

2. Hopefully I'll see him around, but you actually filled in the last spot for this game, upon joining. The Thief game is also full. I don't know if he'd find an open game around TV Tropes, but I wish him good luck.

I'm working on the Martial Arts style of Nothing's Legacy Weapon too. It's quite hard balancing it, making sure it's useful but not a insta-win button. I have a few moves detailed right now, should we do this in PM's or is it fine here?

I think it would actually make more sense to post it here, since then we could also have the other players give their opinions.

Well, I don't have many details for it in place right now. It's....basically all in my head. But I'm gonna type out the basics right now. I should have it posted in half an hour.

...This is going to take slightly longer than I thought. I keep paranoidly checking the d20 SRD to make sure I'm getting everything right. Rest assured, however, it will be posted today.

Do note I'm taking an intentional Exalted-style flair with this in it's writing. It's not Exalted-level power, but the moves are written to sound like an Exalted charm of sorts.

Oh god, so sorry...I was distracted by our new TV's....

But here's part of it...Sorry it sucks so bad:

Angelic Demon Style

A fighting style created by a Monk named Ema Weiß. Ema was not very well known, but sometimes people recall feats of amazing grace and strength by her. She developed this style after seeing how no other one could satisfy her, and named it "Angelic Demon Style", after how it, paradoxically, both takes the users life (like a demon) and gives it to others (like an angel). However, it requires the user to give up their own life energy to utilize it's most powerful abilites, and, as such, very few people practiced it. Only four others practiced is alongside here—Almayyah, Tertium, Marcosias, and Friria. These five warriors are the ones to develop the style to it's absolute potential.

Ema eventually decided to magically seal the style into her gauntlets, an extremely powerful set she made herself called the "God Buster". It is with these that Ema reportedly was able to smash an entire mountain in half with one hit....but whether or not this is true or just legend is lost to the annals of time.

The Angelic Demon Style is based on the principles of both good and evil. Split into two different sub-styles, Angelic and Demonic, the style is both pure and cruel at the same time. Ema switched between the two subsets, but Nothing and Everything have a designated one each-Angelic for Nothing, and Demonic for Everything.

The style is also split into three levels. Passing each of the God Buster's three trials unlocks a level for use by the owner of the fists.

The moveset of the first level of the Angelic sub-style:

Precognition of the Merciful: No one can take the holy by surprise. This feat allows the character to always sense enemies within 5 feet of them, as long as the foe is attacking them. Out of combat, this cannot be used.

Exalted Fireball: The user gathers some of their life into a small and blue compact sphere about a foot wide. After prepping it, they fire it in any direction they please. It will continue until it hits something—anything—, at which point it will explode; the explosion is purely spiritual, and does not affect anything else besides what it hit. It takes 5 of the user's Hit Points to cast, and and it does exactly 3 X User's Monk level, regardless of anything else (it ignores armor and does not have any damage roll;). After reaching level 5, it no longer increases in damage, meaning it's maximum amount is 15 damage. It is incapable of actually killing an enemy.

Titanic Armor Crushing Fist: Armor means nothing to a warrior. With this attack, the user can do a normal punch that completely ignores any armor bonus. In other words, they can strike an armored opponent like they weren't wearing any armor at all. The user gathers their life energy and condenses it into their fist, bathing it in energy. They have two turns to hit an enemy with the attack, after which it will dissipate.

Holy Shot: An attack similar to the Exalted Fireball, except it's a 1-foot wide beam instead of a ball. In addition, it requires 10 hit points to cast and does The User's Monk Level X 4 plus 1d6 damage. After reaching level 5, it stops increasing in damage, making it's maximum 26 damage. It is capable of killing an enemy, and takes two turns to cast, one to charge it, and the other to actually shoot it.

The user can charge it for a turn and keep it in reserve, letting them shoot it off in a strategic way. Up to three shots can be charged up and either fired on their own, or fired together; this makes the maximum amount of damage 78 damage, but each new one takes more 5 more HP to charge; the second takes 15 and the third takes 20, meaning that holding 3 takes 45 HP.

If the user tries to charge a fourth, they explode and take 78 damage themselves. The explosion moves outward almost instantly for about 20 feet; it does 20 damage.

Sacrificial Healing: The Holy must aliviate suffering by taking some themselves. The user casts a large blue-ish sphere 10 feet wide around them. If an ally is in that sphere, the user can give them HP from themselves; for example, they can give 10 HP, but they will, obviously, lose 10 HP this way. It is possible for the user to disable or kill themselves through use of this move, and the maximum amount of HP they can give is 20. The sphere dissipates if the user is struck.

These are the moves I could come up with. What do you think?

Angels are called Celestials in D&D.

Did you know that traditionally, the fighting style called 'Heaven and Hell' refers to the act of dual-wielding a gun and a shortsword, while attacking agressively?

When it says "at level 5", does that mean the weapon's level (as in, what level you've taken in it)? Because it would make more sense for those abilities to cap at level 6, when the wielder should be level 10, since at level 11 the lesser(?) abilities of the weapon come out. I don't have Weapons of Legacy on me right now (school laptop), so I'm just typing based on what I remember.

Everest:No, I mean the user's level in Monk itself. So when Nothing is Monk level five, that's when they stop increasing in power. The gauntlets simply give the user the ability to learn the style, the attacks themselves are solely based on the spiritual energy of the user.

But if you think it would be better another way, I'll certainly change it.

Cygan: Huh. Then I'll call it the "Demonic Celestial Style".

That's what's confusing, and that should be changed, because you aren't supposed to be able to access legacy weapon powers until character level five, I think. I'd have to check, but I'm pretty sure level 5 is the minimum for actually using these powers.

Oh. Well, my main problem was that I wanted to make three levels if moves, but if the first level is already ridiculously powerful, what's the point? Such as Holy Shot. At level 3 it was pretty intended to be a Wave-Motion Gun, but if the first level is good enough, why make a stronger version?

But yeah, I need to change it then...maybe only two levels, but the three levels thing was to fit the trials...dammit, I need to think these things out. And get the corebooks from my friend (unless you guys have a link so I can get/torrent the books).

Once you have read the Weapons Of Legacy book's relevant parts (and some examples), it'll make more sense. You shouldn't be getting the final power of the weapon until character level 20 anyway, so there's plenty of time to scale the abilities up. 5-10 = least, so any abilities that would carry through should not scale between levels, I think. 11-16 = lesser, so any previous abilities could scale up, and 17+ is greater, so your new powers would be that much stronger. While sorting these powers out now will be good, these powers won't be coming into play until level five. I can try to find a sample for you, but you can also look at Cygan's, if I can find it.

Here it is.

Okay. I'm going to rewrite it soon.

On the other hand, what do you actually think of the abilities themselves? I want to make sure they're not too powerful but also aren't useless.

My thoughts:

Precognition of the Merciful: That would probably be fine.

Exalted Fireball and Holy Shot: These abilities should actually continue to scale up as you go along, rather than capping out as they do; they should probably top out at level 10, rather than 5. But at the same time, the HP to cast them should scale up as well, and not be so harsh at the start; 5 HP for 3 damage at 1st level is not a good penalty.

Titanic Armor Crushing Fist: Touch attacks are a big deal in D&D, and the touch defense is usually much lower than the flat-footed defense, and in turn regular Armor Class. Getting what, at the higher levels, will basically amount to a free hit against many kinds of enemies, particularly the large ones that rely on natural armor, shouldn't come without strings attached, but another cast-from-HP spells is probably pushing it. Having it to use three times a day or something would make more sense.

Sacrificial Healing: This one looks fine, though if anything it's a little underpowered in its current state. It should probably scale up with monk level as well.

Thanks for reminding us and letting us know. Is there anyone else here who knows for sure that they won't make it? If so, speak up now, if possible, before we begin.

On that note, I'm being inducted into the World Language Honors Society today at 6:30, and I have no idea how long they expect me to stay there (if it takes an hour and a half, I'll be confused, but I highly doubt it), so I'm just throwing that out there as a heads-up. Does anyone know how long they usually take, actually?

And Chagen, how close are you to being done creating Nothing? That ought to take precedence over making a fighting style you won't be using for a few levels anyway.
