There is a perfect example of this in the Love Hina Manga let me see if I can find it again.

That would be a very clear example. I'm just not sure it wouldn't be a better page quote.

Well, it's an inherently texty trope much of the time.

Since this trope is about how people view the couple I think someone having the gall to go up and straight out asking with Sweat Drop reactions, is the best we are going to get... Put it up?

The only thing I can see working is a couple being all snuggly and a crowd going "what the hell does [he] have that appeals to [her]?". Assuming it's gender neutral, which it should be.

He makes me laugh.

Probably better pictures of Jessica and Roger Rabbit, but, very illustrative example (sexy human female, goofy rabbit male).

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.

btw that exchange is:

Eddie Valiant: She's married to Roger Rabbit?
Betty Boop: Yeah. What a lucky girl.

hehe :)

(Said there is probably better, but, actually that's pretty good; shows the affection is mutual, among other things.)

Fits Ugly Guy, Hot Wife a lot better IMO this is a reaction trope.

(I hate the Image on Ugly Guy, Hot Wife so put it up there)

Ugly Guy, Hot Wife does have an image picking thread...

I like the Jessica and Roger one. grin While yeah it could arguably be UGHW too (YMMV, I don't see him as ugly...just a rabbit), it fits this trope perfectly.

I'm definitely not a fan of the Love Hina one—fine for a page quote, but the text does literally all the work. The picture itself adds nothing.

Roger Rabbit isn't ugly.

Ugly Guy, Hot Wife has a great image. I think that the Roger Rabbit image immediately invokes this trope. In both tropers and in the movie.

Roger Rabbit is, well, a rabbit. Hardly what would be considered "ugly." (Though in Roger's case in particular, at least somewhat goofy.)

I'd say put the Roger Rabbit pic up here, and use the Love Hina one for a page quote. It would make more sense than the first one that's up there now.

I vote for Roger Rabbit. This isn't exclusively an appearance trope.

[up] YES! The example is too perfect how can we not use it?! It's a perfect fit for the trope, in universe case-and even an audience case! It works through and through!
