RHCP seem to be going in some psychadela-funk direction, which is... cool, I guess. What I'm really excited for is the possibility of seeing them live.

Watch A Serbian Film. I dare you.

Haunted Shores' and Ready, Set, Fall!'s debuts, Textures, Scar damn Symmetry, Mercenary, Axenstar, Deadlock, upcoming E Ps from Between the Buried and Me and Disarmonia Mundi, and who knows The Unguided releases something within 11 months from now. Also curious to listen to what's coming from Xerath and The Project Hate MCreallylongromannumber.

But most of all, DEVIN TOWNSEND. 2011 will be his year for sure, even moreso if he decides to release Z² before 2012.

I REALLY doubt it'd come out this year, but who knows? Circle Takes the Square - Ritual of Names.

HERP A DERP DERP, forgot about the new album from The Mountain Goats, All Eternals Deck, due in March. Awwwwwww jeeaaaah.

Also, new album from everyone's favourite Drone band, Earth, entitled Angels Of Darkness, Demons Of Light 1, and with a front cover that looks like this, i.e. AWESOME.

Man, I always forget how prolific John Darnielle is.

And I've never really been able to get into Earth's music but they always have the best album covers.

Amon Amarth's Surtur Rising's slated for spring '11, so I'm excited for that.

Oh, scratch what I've said before (actually no, don't scratch it but well). Mat Bruso and his voice are back to Bury Your Dead and there will be a 2011 release. BRACE FOR EPIC.

The big one is I Am Very Far by Okkervil River. I seriously can't wait, the new song on Letterman was amazing. I'm also looking forward to All Eternals Deck by The Mountain Goats and The People's Key by Bright Eyes should be cool too. Looking like a good year for folk-rock. Aside from those:

  • PJ Harvey - Let England Shake
  • R.E.M. - Collapse Into Now
  • Lupe Fiasco - Lasers
  • Lady Gaga - Born This Way
  • Coldplay's new album
  • Kanye West & Jay-Z - Watch the Throne

They're off the streets now, and back on the road on the riot trail. http://www.last.fm/user/sca_punk

Have I already mentioned the new Jeniferever album? I can't remember and am too tired to check. So I'll just say it, possibly for a second time.

It's been too long since Protest the Hero's last album (for me, anyway, being the nutty PTH fanboy that I am), and Amon Amarth will be another one to look out for. Other than that, I have no idea.

Oh, I think Arch Enemy was supposed to have a new one out this year. Might look into that.

I'm really looking forward to the currently unnamed Nightwish album that's coming out.

I am also looking forward to The Unforgiving.

  • Accordo dei Contrari: Kublai
  • Änglagård: long-awaited 3rd studio album
  • Beardfish: Mammoth
  • Big Big Train: English Electric
  • The Dear Hunter: The Color Spectrum
  • Echolyn (new album)
  • Far Corner: 3rd album
  • From.uz: Quartus Artifactus
  • Gösta Berlings Saga: Glue Works (you can watch snippets of the new album being recorded on the Roth Handle Studio Youtube channel)
  • Guapo
  • Manogurgeil: 2nd album
  • Mars Hollow: World in Front of Me (apparently mastering is already complete! WOO HOO!)
  • Nil
  • Orne: The Tree of Life
  • Van der Graaf Generator: A Grounding in Numbers
  • White Willow: Terminal Twilight
  • Wobbler: Rites at Dawn

apparently there’s plans for a new Roxy Music album in 2011 but I’m not expecting much. Probably just another glorified Bryan Ferry solo album. Having Eno or Eddie Jobson involved would be cool but I’m not holding my breath (especially not for the latter).

It looks like The Beach Boys are lining up for an official SMiLE release. Maybe we'll get the sessions with Paul McCartney in them.

Born This Way - Lady Gaga

The Lonely Island's upcoming album (they haven't given a title yet, but I like the two songs they've released as always)

Mumford and Sons next album. It may not come this year, but Marcus mentioned that they really wanted to get back in the studio and record another one as soon as possible. So, fingers crossed!

We're going to spread this shit like Nutella.

Didn't know about the possibility of new TMBG or Kyuss, that's pretty cool.

I've heard the new R.E.M. single ("Mine Smell Like Honey") and didn't think much of it, but we will see. "Me, Marlon Brando, Marlon Brando and I" is an interesting song title though, I wonder if it's supposed to be a Neil Young Shout-Out and/or takeoff (You know, because "Pocahontas" ends with the line "Marlon Brando, Pocahontas and me").

There's supposed to be a new Dead Milkmen album called The King In Yellow this year, I'm sort of crossing my fingers that it'll be good despite the absence of the late Dave Blood and the fact that the last couple albums they made before they broke up weren't so hot.
