  • There is more than one videogame in the franchise.
  • Judging from my searches so far... No, it hasn't sold more than 10 million copies worldwide. I think. (And I have no idea where to find accurate sources for this information, so if it turns out to be wrong... Deal with it.)
  • The franchise has a manga.

Round 355: *Sekiha Tenkyokens djmaca*

Hint: N-Word Privileges. Not a reference to God Knows.
Restrictions: No questions on air dates, series length, episode length, producers, and no direct references to other sites aside from TV Tropes.

The song:

The anime:

  • Does not have a female main character. (Caveat: Your Milage May Vary on singling out one character as a main character.)
    • As far as general consensus goes, has no more than 2 characters who could be considered main characters.
    • Both main characters are male.
    • Both have seiyuu listed on the Names to Know in Anime page.
    • Both seiyuu are older than 25.
  • Is not Naruto.
  • Is not Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
  • Is an adaptation.
    • Is not an adaptation of a manga.
    • Is an adaptation of a videogame / visual novel.
      • Is an adaptation of a videogame.
        • Is an adaptation of a videogame of Japanese origin.
        • Is an adaptation of a videogame with more than one game in the franchise.
          • The videogame franchise has not sold more than 10 million copies worldwide to the best of my knowledge.
    • Is not an adaptation of a light novel.
  • Has a manga in the franchise.

The hint:

  • Is not a reference to the anime.
  • Is a reference to the song.
  • Is not a major plot device.

The game is:

  • not a visual novel.
  • not an RPG.
  • not an FPS.

The anime is:

  • a TV series.
  • not a movie or movie series. It has a movie, though.
  • not an OVA or series of OVAs.

Does the anime have a movie? Since you left that out when you answered.

Is it a puzzle game? Adventure game?

You get one extra question, since it's my fault for not answering accurately. See above.

The Game is:

  • not a puzzle game.
  • not an adventure game.

And I think we've all lost The Game, whatever that means.

Is the manga Shonen? Shoujo? Seinen?

What do you mean we all lost a game? This hasn't ended yet!

JK. Yep, we all lost The Game.

Was the first video game of the franchise released for a Seventh Generation console(Wii, PlayStation 3*

, Xbox360)? For the PC?

Funny, I lost The Game two days in a row now, it had never happened to me before.

The manga is:

  • possibly Shounen (depending on your reference)
  • not Shoujo
  • most likely Seinen since it was serialised in a Seinen manga magazine, as far as I can tell.

The first game of the franchise:

  • was not released on a 7th-gen console.
  • was not released on the PC.

I don't even understand how that meme works, frankly.

Does the work (either the anime or the the video game) appear on the Fantastic Racism page?

Is it adapted from a fighting game?

A platform game?

Unfortunately, you don't. But if you're that confident, I'd better recheck my hints to make sure I haven't got anything wrong along the way.

  • It's not Attitude.
  • It's not Love Together.
  • It's not Ieroo Baruun.

Well, there' one more song from that series...

Is it SCHOOL GIRL? The reason I thought it was that particular anime was because I thought that the hint fitted as rap and "the N word" are closely associated with each other, and it comes from a genre of games that wasn't already covered by your rejections.

Or is it Family?

Akaneiroga Moerutoki? Yeah, I checked the character list for Gungrave on MAL and saw this young black rapper dude there, and third-person action games haven't been covered by your hints yet, so... Also, sorry for changing my questions so much.

  • It's not School Girl.
  • It's not Braveheart.
  • It's not Family.

I like your logic, but I'm not sure if it's too oblique for me or not oblique enough. Doesn't mean you're on the right track anyway.

Does the anime have any black characters?

Is the game it is adapted from a third-person action game?

No worries. I wasn't around anyway.

  • It's not Akaneiroga Moerutoki.
  • I'm fairly sure there aren't any black characters in this anime. So that puts paid to that line of reasoning.
  • The game of origin is a third-person action game, by definition.

We're really overdoing it with the white text this round.

Was the first video game released on multiple consoles and/or handhelds?

If not, was it released on a Nintendo console/handheld? On a Sony console/handheld?

  • The first game was not released on multiple platforms.
  • It was not released on a Nintendo platform.
  • It was released on a Sony platform.

Is it D.M.C?

I'll be your home?

And just in case it isn't...

Was the game released on the PS 2?

Is it listed on the Seinen page?

At the risk of two of my questions not being answered.

Was the first game released before January 1, 2006? After December 31, 2008? This aren't air dates, and are not about the anime anyway.

Was the game released exclusively in Japan?

Seriously, though, you guys are really making me wonder if the hints I'm giving are accurate.

  • It's not D.M.C.
  • It's not I'll Be Your Home.
  • The game was released on the PS 2.
  • There is no more than one manga (as far as I can tell).
  • The manga is not listed on the Seinen page.
  • The first game was released before Jan 1, 2006.

I'm starting to run out of options here...

Is it Dororo no Uta? Hey, I'm just checking to make sure it's not a 1960's series that just so happens to have a related 3rd person action video game for the Playstation 2 that was released before 2006.

Was the game released on the Xbox?

Is it an action series?
