Having examples on these articles does seem a bit silly. Making them indexes is redundant because we already have the main Literature index.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"As was said above, apparently it's word count. 7500-17499 for a novelette and 17500 to 40000 for a novella. Someone invented some arbitrary distinctions.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I've never heard of a novelette before.
Anyway, I don't see any discussion about any of this, so the person who added the examples back can hardly be blamed. I agree they probably don't need examples, but this probably should have been brought up somewhere.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Yes, it sounds like a TRS or Trope Talk topic. To my thinking, the lists of examples seem more illustrative than comprehensive, and they aren't exactly burdening the pages with their length.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"

I removed the examples from these tropes a while ago, but someone recently restored examples. Why? These tropes are purely based on lengths of stories, and not even extreme lengths like flash fiction or doorstoppers. Why do we need a list of selected works with a certain word count? This is not a trope, and, though having a page is understandable, examples are utterly meaningless.
I'm feeling strangely happy now, contented and serene. Oh don't you see, finally I'll be, somewhere that's green...
