Potentially, plus it helps keep the hype going until they launch the full game on PC.
One thing I always wanted with Homeworld and, frankly, most strat games, was the option to take control of a unit. Like Dungeon keeper! I'd love a flight sim set in a homeworld 4x...
Hell, that'd be perfect. Do a Dwarf Fortress, setup the galaxy a la Stellaris, then take your character into it.
Pipe dreams, but think that could be cool.
Expect an announcement regarding Homeworld 3 in the 2021 Game Awards show on December 9th.

Looks nice. The human CGI isn't perfectly photorealistic and I feel like they didn't need to go to the Uncanny Valley there. As for the game itself, with Gearbox involved it's a total crapshoot. It's going on my "pay attention" list at least.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Homeworld 3 Collector’s Edition - PC
Here's the Amazon store page - FYI the USD cost is $179.99, excluding shipping costs.
Some details about the collectible items from the Amazon store page:
- The Mothership, Khar-Kushan - This lovingly crafted 14” (35.6cm) model features USB-powered LE Ds illuminating the ship's engines, ports, and launch bays. Details include a removable bay door capable of displaying the Destroyer and authentic sounds from the game. The Mothership comes equipped with a dual positioned stand to accommodate both vertical and horizontal display options to best fit your set up.
- Hiigaran Destroyer - An all-purpose capital ship your enemies always dread seeing measuring 3in (7.62cm).
- Hiigaran Torpedo Frigate - Brimming with imposing launchers, the Torpedo Frigate is a devastating threat to enemy capital ships. Measures 1.8in (4.5cm)
- Hiigaran Recon in delta formation - The eyes and ears of Fleet Command and the fastest ships in the Hiigaran fleet, measuring 1.2in (3cm)
- WW 2-inspired spotter deck - Ship recognition playing cards featuring the fleets of Homeworld 3 and perhaps a surprise or two.
The bad news, though... the game will have a Year-One season pass, implying the existence of future season passes and DLC.

Yes.
The Naggarok came from outside the galaxy even before the time of the Precursors, and it brought back something while in hyperspace. Before the Beast could completely assimilate the crew they scuttled all the ship's functions, but a distress beacon was auto-launched anyway.
The beacon held a piece of the Beast and that brings the plot of Cataclysm.
So in theory the Beast could be brought back again just by sheer coincidence from one of the local ships randomly using hyperspace and/or hyperspacing through the dark space between galaxies.
Like, the Motherships are massive, but even they're dwarfed by the ship wrecks we've seen.
While the spaceship hulks were beautiful backdrops, I always thought it weird how much emphasis was placed on how great Sajuuk or its dreadnought guardships when even this multi-kilometer long ships are basically just pixels compared to the ships that held and transported them.

Why do I get the feeling that this is also something of a testbed to try out multiple Homeworld 3 mechanics in a mobile game? A new galaxy, new allies and enemies, customizable ships..
