Here is that, with caption. Did some color correction so the two are more obviously the same person, and only Sue's speech bubble matters, cropped off one and partially cropped another (enough left to be clearly dismissive/patronizing). Actual res is a little bigger.
Caption should be "The Woman's Movement worked" or something to that affect.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Personally, I prefer the "morale booster" panel, but if it's going to be chopped up, there's not much point in using it.
Jet-a-Reeno!BTW, my problem was not with the text, but the text is in only one. It hurts colage illustrations for the parts not to flow together. So I say the one without any words works, since you don't have to mentally shift gears with "Oh they are talking with that one/oh, it's just a picture of her now".

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.
I can understand that, sorta, though I'm not sure I actually agree. The Sub-Mariner image definitely does work better without the text (particularly since that text has little to do with the trope), but the dialogue in the first image is directly on-point about the trope and how her portrayal has changed over time.

Jet-a-Reeno!Better than having it half cut-out, anyway, but I still fail to see any advantage (and, in fact, see a lot lost) from limiting that panel and its dialogue.
If forced to choose between that panel in its "redacted" form and the Sub-Mariner one, I'd go with the latter.
Jet-a-Reeno!How about this as an alternative to the second Invisible Woman? They don't even look like the same character to me.

I'm trying to find better, but evidently Susan hasn't improved that much in the fighting department over the last couple decades.
"How is having half a word balloon good from either perspective?"
Rather not explain; if you don't like it, you don't like it :) Was just an idea.
Another version (with some color correction to emphasize they are the same character):
Also, replaced the Simon
◊ image, I think it is worth a second look.
While I don't doubt that Invisible Woman would make a good page image (though the one with her standing in front of a pile of corpses, while clearly above helplessness, doesn't necessarily imply "badass" if you ask me) I'm just wondering why people didn't state just what exactly was wrong with my Meg Griffin one.
