Why the picture change?: Berserk Button

Why the change? The previous image was fine.

I read the edit comments and it said that it doesn't show what triggered the berserk rage. Since when does that matter? Beserk Bottun is about something triggering extreeme rage. What that something is is not relevant to the trope.

The current image might as well be called "Sensitive Short People". Bring the old image back.

Because it maybe was? I was sure I made a thread like this yesterday, but I couldn't find it anywhere...I spent a good half hour looking for it just to make sure. I concluded it was just my imagination and that I never posted that thread at all... Wouldn't be the first time it happened:P

EDIT: OK, looks at the link. ..Whaaaaaat? Can't tell they're the same? This image changing is getting redicolous. People won't stop till the image is that of their favorite show X and will friggin nitpick to death.

I aks again - how the hell is this image better?

The previous one was pretty straightforward - a calm guy, looking like he wouldn't hurt a fly - beserk bottun - same guy in mad, snarling range. There's was no mistake at all what the trope represents.

This image here can serve as a image for several other tropes at the top of my head.

Mostly because it didn't show what set him off.

All the former picture showed is that something made Van really angry. The FMA picture illustrates that the "button" is a specific topic that drives the character into a rage, even when it seems innocuous to other people. Much more illustrative.

The two versions looked nothing alike. One had black hair and the other had silver hair.

Plus, it never showed what made him berserk; it just showed a big red button and had us assume he went berserk.

Really, it sounds like Fan Myopia on your part.

Actually, one of them had brownish pink hair to start, the other had silver and facial features distorted enough that I'd be hard pressed to say they were ever the same show, let alone the same character. No actual demonstration of the trope. It had a lot of issues.

Also, if he was getting angry at something serious, let's say "I murdered your sister bwahahha!", then it's not a berserk button. BB isn't "something that makes you angry", it's "something trivial that makes you angry".

Also, reference, previous and current image:

The FMA pic is superior in just about every way.

The FMA picture is in no way better. The specific of what triggers the berserking is irrelevant to the trope.

The FMA picture would be better for any short people...or Napoleon complex...short people sensitive of their height is a trope in of itself. Put that image there. It would do great.

And really? You can't tell it's the same guy because of lighting affecting hair color? REALLY? What if I said I can't tell it's Ed on both of those images?

I don't mind image changes when there's a good reason. But "I don't like the hair color" is NOT one of them.

The cause is relevant. It doesn't have to be "minor" - threatening loved ones is one of the possibilities listed in the description - but it's only a Berserk Button if the anger it inspires is far beyond the reasonable reaction to what was said or done. Because we don't see what triggered Van's rage in the Escaflowne picture, it's impossible to tell if it was a true Berserk Button or him becoming justifiably furious (Knowing the TV series, I'm pretty sure it's the latter; he doesn't have a "button" that I can remember, and I've seen it two or three times). The picture of Ed makes the overreaction clear.

"I don't mind image changes when there's a good reason. But "I don't like the hair color" is NOT one of them."

No, that was fixed. It was the problem that originally raised the thread. The FMA pic is better than the fixed one. Did you read the thread? Seems like you skimmed :P Dunno, this shows getting mad, current shows overreacting.

As part of the initial discussion, I liked having the before and after with the button in between. But I can still see the merit of the current picture in its own right. And furthermore, Berserk Button is a noun. It refers to a person, place or thing. So the trope name, by definition, refers to the trigger, not the simple fact that someone has a trigger.

Yeah, we needed the "pipsqueak" keyword. It's not really something to rage over, which is the point.

You'd think a bottun is illustrative enough... A calm nice guy, bottun pressed, ball of rage. The trope is also about the difference of the transition. Ed doesn't really look that pissed or that calm and nice (he has more of a smug look in the above image).

That doesn't change the fact that the image works better in the trope about senstive short people..I don't remember the name of that one, but Ed is a poster child for that one.

I dont like FMA at all. (its one of those animes I really don't like) And the new image is much better than the old one for one huge reason... Context, you get to see what his berserk button actually is, which is the point of the trope not just someone angry. The old image is just a JAFAAC.

Trash Man, I don't have much to say that hasn't already been said (and anyway, I could be called the most biased one here, as I'm pretty sure I supplied the Ed picture), but can you please stop spelling it "bottun"? It's not much, but it's kind of distracting.
