I'm beginning to wonder what Bungie was thinking when they designed the new infusion system. Or why the fanbase is in love with the expansion, despite it making everything more grindy and causing a ton of weapons to become obsolete.

Problem right now is that for players who don't have the Forsaken expansion, such as myself, the leveling system seems to have come to a complete halt around light lvl 380-390. I can't seem to get any loot equal to or better than the Resplendent armor given during the Solstice of Heroes event, and neither can you infuse that armor into any other sets or upgrade it to have Year 2 perks.

But what's worse is the demand to use Masterwork cores for infusing virtually anything now, including armors. Without access to Spider's market, this means your only source of masterwork cores is going to be mainly random drops or end-of-dungeon loot crates; this discourages leveling up any of your previous gear and instead relying upon the latest random drops, whether its purple or blue. Oh, and how said previous armors don't have any updated or randomized perks anymore, making them now junk vs the Forsaken loot.

Would you believe I never fully watched the original Indiana Jones trilogy? I gotta correct that someday.

The Taken King did that too.

And much like Taken King it's something you really just sorta need to buy to continue onwards.

Infusion costs are bullshit though.

Oh really when?

I know this is off topic, but I just noticed it right now... are the forums glitching out again? Because I usually prefer to use the Night Vision setting when browsing TVT, and all of a sudden the fonts are colored dark grey against a black background - that glitch happened early on during the site's major overhaul earlier last year.

I'm installing it atm so I may give it a try this weekend.

Plus, remember how in Eragon everyone cries "a single tear"? Yeah, just try that with One Piece and see if it works

Looks like Activision's executives shareholders are upset with Destiny's lacking performance. Might explain them giving away the PC copy for free recently.

Hopefully they donít develop D3 at the same time as D2 is still going. Iís hate for them to continue doing the peaks and valleys of gameplay thing again cuz it just looks like they didnít learn from the first two games.

[up]I suspect that Bungie themselves were aware of how damaging that practice was in terms of quality towards D1, but Activision probably left them no choice. And since the shareholders are complaining about the sales again, well... I think we're gonna see history repeat, or worse.

The thing says that Activison is looking for 'new ways to monetize' so expect massive amounts of micro transactions.

I'm sorry, but Destiny 2 (and presumably 1, but I never played that) really should have been a single player game. There's nothing in particular about it that requires it to be multiplayer, and the story makes much more sense if it's single player. They should have just gone the Mass Effect 3 route where the multiplayer is basically an entirely separate game with plenty of cosmetic purchases and whatnot.

Also, anyone who tries to monetize a AAA game that costs sixty dollars just to start needs to be forced to play a couple dozen hours of Warframe to see how a game can be monetized without screwing over everyone.

Unfortunately Acti Blizz are too far removed and too run by VC (Venture or Vulture, take your pic) - they probably are only looking at various balance sheets or metric reports from small sample sizes.

They will only take the "backlash" with a grain of salt, or put it down to a vocal minority on the internet. Likelihood of them putting the two things together? Probably small. It's amazing how large corporates are actually bad at connecting the dots (Especially if the board members aren't actually that involved in what the company produces / the end product)

Activision reveals to investors that Destiny 2 failed to meet sales expectations, and that as such they'll add more monetizations.

Why is that their first conclusion? Why is it not "We pressured them into releasing the game too soon and the backlash caused sales to drop, therefore we need to give them more time"?

welcome to shareholder culture

or, as Jim Sterling has put it.

Shareholders/Companies dont want some of the money, they want all of the money

Yeah, figures. You'd think after two games where there's a huge backlash over a lack of content and rushed development that even the shareholders would learn.

That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.
Nov 9th 2018 at 12:14:14 PM

why would they learn? if things go sour that just means its time to burn the company to the ground and move on.

Investors and executives always land fine after these things, its the people who cant control the company that suffer

It doesn't help that if the company admits to any fault (even as simple as "we released too early and will take our time from now on"), investors get skittish and stocks take a nosedive. Our current stock market is a large part of the problem, as it reacts far too quickly and violently to any perceived problems. And then there's the thing where companies can't just make money, they have to make more money than last quarter.

Everything to do with corporations needs a major overhaul, but I have absolutely no idea how to even get started getting that started.

Not really. It in the executives' best interest that the shareholders don't make that realization. Because then the shareholders might fire the Execs and hire a new board. So of course Executives will massage the truth so the shareholders don't come to the conclusion that there's a management problem. So the game doesn't fail because of management factors, but because of outside forces. Competition was too strong. The market was too fickle. Nothing Management could do! But don't worry shareholders, they have plans to milk the players they do have dry and make up that difference!

It's the same reason Politicians are adverse to admitting to a screw up. Because you're inviting the thought that you did wrong and then you should be replaced by someone who wouldn't have done what you did.

Why on earth am I bumping this almost a month after the last post? (Blame it on the fact that this is the only thread covering this game.)

Black Armory is finally out. and it is already a pain in the ass to complete. First few steps are easy, until you get to defeatig powerful enemies. Should I also mention the game fails to mention you need a power weapon to complete this? After a bit of a breather task from beating a boss in a public event for the Fetch Quest, I head to and from the tower to get to the forge, where I am now stuck thanks to it being way too gimmicky to complete within what is initially one minute. With all that said, Iím getting a rather bad first impression. I want to get to the loot, not be stumped by Artificial Difficulty this time!

And why, just why, does the fanbase actually LIKE this sort of grindy stuff?! Could've sworn I remember how bitchy the community was about grinding for crafting items and loot during the D1 days.

I actually enjoyed the gameplay more when you could easily level up your gear and customize your character visually as you pleased due to the stats being of little consequence, but now everybody's stuck wearing Forsaken gear and shooting guns they don't like due to the infusion costs!

Ah well... I didn't bother to purchase Forsaken anyways. Sucks that I won't be able to join my friends or some of the tropers here when playing (hopefully cross-console will be in the works soon), but it is what it is.
