I didn't like it. Sonic's far too slippery and floaty for precise platforming, it's too easy to mess up and hit a dead end and there's too many pseudo-cutscenes where control of Sonic is taken away from you.

Considering the nature of the Sonic fandom, I wouldn't care too much about their opinion (granted, one could say this about every fandom).
I've never played any of the newer (than Genesis) Sonic games. Maybe Colors would be a good game to start. Although should I get the DS or the Wii version?

People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.@Aondeug: Does my liking Sonic 2 incite hatred in your soul?
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows. No, Sonic 2 was the most awesomest of the Genesis series. You can't deny its most awesomestness.
Plus, Metropolis, Chemical Plant, and Mystic Cave are amazing, and the giant Robotnik>>>Sonic 3 and Knuckles final boss.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.I heard it's very good. Literally too.
Man, I can listen to that music all day.

I want to like it more than I do, but I really, really like the gameplay introduced in Sonic Rush. This one is more platforming focused, and the straight platforming has always been the part of classic Sonic I enjoyed the least.
Just got it yesterday and beat it today. Wow that was short. Rather easy too. Curious as to how quick I will finish the DS version when I manage to get my hands on it... My verdict on the Wii version...it's probably the best of the 3-D Sonic games and is now my second favorite game in the series behind 3 and Knuckles. I've heard some complaints about the controls being unresponsive. There were only two cases where I felt that was such. During the movement sections where you see the little swervy box at the bottom of the screen and while using Frenzy (initially anyway, once he grows he is much easier to control). Most of the Wisp powers I liked save Frenzy (due to aforementioned control issues) and Hover (it's a bit dull if very useful). Spikes is probably my favorite of the things.I am unsure of how I feel about the simplistic storyline. On the one hand I find that very charming and refreshing. On the other hand it feels a bit empty in that department. Colors has taught me that a more platformy Sonic can work. Colors is a very nice balance between running like a madman and jumping over doom pits.
Currently I am collecting red rings (that I call coins for some reason) so I can begin working on getting Super Sonic. I WILL RAPE THE WORLD WITH HIS MIGHTY POWERS.

If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahI liked those sections best. I have a great fondness for the quickstep sections of the game in particular. There was enough of that to keep me satisfied. Not being able to use most Wisps in those sections didn't bug me much.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan Chah...the pinball? Seriously?
That just makes me think assholes are scraping the bottom of the barrel looking for something to be contrary about.
How did I forget to mention that...THANK YOU FOR SCRAPPING THOSE. Fuck pinball mechanics in Sonic games. Fuck them to hell. 4 managed to make them slightly more bearable, but only just.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahI just can't get into the game. It's solid enough, but there's simply nothing to hold my interest.
The story is purest Excuse Plot, the enemies aren't worth mentioning, the settings are forgettable, bosses are pathetic, and the 3D aspect is near non-existent. Even with the Wisps, there's nothing to really set it apart from other games. It's just kinda there.
"When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all" Futurama, GodfellasI started playing it.
It looks meh. The gameplay is reminiscent of Sonic Advance, which is okay I guess.
New RP!![]()
And that. The enthusiastic shouting would have been nicer with Unleashed's demonic QT Es.

The new It Just Bugs Me!Loved it.
Because the Sonic series is known for its in-depth, highly intellectual plots, amirite?
Then why are you mentioning them?
IT'S A FUCKING SPACE CARNIVAL. If that does't impress you, I'm inclined to believe you're dead.
I don't know about you, but I'd rather go for slightly too easy than BR 00 TALLY DIFFICULT like every other game in existence.
This is bad because....?
What exactly were you expecting....?
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....HEY GUIZ HEI GUIZ I HAV A VERY FUNNY JOKE
Do you know how it would be called if they made a sequel to this game?
......Sonic REColors

Hmm, I wonder who made this thread... It's such a mystery...Okay, in all seriousness, let's discuss the latest Sonic title released on the Wii and DS in a civil manner, shall we?
Well, to start, allow me to sum the game up as I see it: Take the best aspects of the already decent Sonic Unleashed, remove the worst parts of it, and add in exploration elements from Sonic The Hedgehog CD and a powerup gimmick system that actually improves the overall gameplay, some of the general themes from Super Mario Galaxy, a lighthearted story with a hilarious script penned by the writers of Reboot and Happy Tree Friends and good voice acting, and you'll have the best Sonic game since the Genesis titles.
