One that comes to my mind is the statues holding your health and mana metres in the first Diablo game.
At the bottom, could probably use a better resolution as well

Also a bit interesting in that the male demon represents physical health and strength, and the female angel represents spiritual power. (Though I think the second game reversed the two; never really played it.)
^^^Would need some epic cropping, but it shows the trope.
^That works pretty well.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyErr... Diablo isn't really an example. They're both male. The Demon more aggressively so, but they're both male. The Angel is just in a robe.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. Dick^After leaning into the screen and squinting, I've confirmed that you're right. It was just so tiny I couldn't tell.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyFor what it's worth, Diablo 2 uses a female angel.

and that's how Equestria was made!I cropped out some images from Magic The Gathering cards (specifically Linvala, Keeper of Silence and Ob Nixilis the Fallen) and put them next to each other.
Does this work?
Each night, he abandons the trappings of civilization. Each morning, he repairs the front door.^^Yes, but I think it's best for the two to be part of the same illustration.

Infinite Tree: an experimental storyYeah, they kind of do. Maybe a gray-scale version? If that doesn't help, I like the one from post 4.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyAnd there we have it. Can that go ahead and go on?

Infinite Tree: an experimental story

The skull-demon thing, well it might be a male-shaped skull but I really don't think people care about that, doesn't really have anything going for it that's "male" looking otherwise. How often do you see people care about the sex of a skeleton?
The long haired light/water spirit looks a little too far from what people generally consider angels and it also barely shows anything stereotypically feminine in appearance.
There's undesirable Fanservice in it, along with the middle character being unnecessary at the same time.
I can't think of a good example right now that would obviously show "demon" and "angel", so, any suggestions?

If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.
