I'm gonna go with "flat 3D" and "pop 3D". Like, Ocarina of Time '64 is a flat 3D game, and the remake will be pop 3D.

Discuss?

I am not sure how serious I'm being at the moment

The terms are use are Polygonal and 3D. That keeps it from getting confusing.

But then what about voxel engines that don't support stereoscopic 3D? I mean, sure the only games of note I can think of that used theme were Blade Runner and Tiberian Sun, but still...

Speaking of which, I favor "stereoscopic 3D" for 3DS-type 3D even if it's a mouthful.

^Wait, Tiberian Sun had Stereoscopic 3D? Huh.

Also, Minecraft supports Anaglyph 3D.

And for the record, 3D could refer to games like Wolfenstein 3 D, which simply had 3D mapping.

^ I meant it had a voxel engine. Sorry, that post was kinda hard to parse.

Yes, TS did use Isometric 2D Projection with Sprites and Voxels.

Will Paper Mario 3DS be "pop 2D"?

I honestly think it's going to be more about the context.
