Idea: Motown soul fused with ambient music.

I had a pretty awesome idea just now that started with A Good Name for a Rock Band.

I had the idea to call a band "The Star Wormwood", and just from that name, into my head popped the idea of a band that mixed drone/country/metal in the vein of Barn Owl, Earth, or Higuma with something more along the lines of your Julianna Barwick or your Grouper, and maybe add a little bit of harsher guitars like in Earth's earlier work or like Sunn O))) do, and you've got a band that makes ambient droning soundscapes that are simultaneously beautiful and ominous.

Do we really need more of these in the world?

^ What do you mean by "40s style big production"?

My idea: well, they have a genre of folk metal for everywhere in the world, why not these?

  • South African folk metal
  • Native American folk metal
  • Indian folk metal
  • Aboriginal folk metal
  • South American folk metal
  • Polynesian folk metal

A fusion of Electro-House with soul-esque choruses and Big Beat style breaks.

Fuse electronic industrial and celtic folk music.

Do the same for germanic. And slavic.

And semitic music too.

What's "semitic music"? I have this suspicion that's some cop-out term for "Jewish music".

jazz-thrash-J-pop-death metal fusion with the occasional speedcore influence thrown in.

[up][up] Most likely Middle Eastern, excluding Iranian and Turkish. Hence, less "cop-out," more "broad swath."

There are a bunch of symphonic metal bands that are influenced by film scores. Rhapsody Of Fire is another one.

I guess it is.

A bunch. Even Winds Of Plague says they're a bit film-score-influenced, and it's even starting to break into the mainstream through bands like Blackguard.

I was thinking more Krautrock than metal like Soundtracks by Can, but that's cool.

Someone should create a metal Ennio Morricone tribute band and a metal Jerry Goldsmith tribute band.
