What fusion genre would you create?

If you were going to fuse some genres or particular styles together, what kind of new music would like to create?

I would combine jazz horns, hard rock guitars and Latin rhythms with loads of percussion. Hopefully something kind of like a mixture of early Chicago and Santana with Led Zeppelin would ensue.

Acoustic breakcore.

I'm not nearly an awesome enough drummer though. Maybe in a few years...

Metal, only with acoustic guitars on par with the electric one. At the same time, of course. It sounds incredibly beautiful when Opeth does it, but unfortunately it's only occasional.

Well.

If I ever get the training I want, a breakbeat-backed album with keyboard and acoustic guitar accompaniment would likely ensue. Dunno if that's been done before.

A fusion of death metal, jazz, house, and classical (Darkdance as a genre name, perhaps?).

I can picture one song in my head already . . .

Something that can shift from moody indie rock to freak folk to electronica and back again seamlessly.

I'd mix bluegrass and shoegazing, solely so I could call it "shoegrass".

A mix of metal and rap, to create some sort of "new" metal genre, I'd call it......Nu metal.

No wait, what am I saying, no-one would be dumb enough to do something like that....

I would, sorta. See my friggin' page. If that doesn't pan out, orchestral hip-hop.

@merton: Actually what I meant was acoustic guitar + electric guitar, not half-acoustic, half-electric. Kinda like the 7:37 mark on this:

My ideal band would be a mixture of Cut & Paste, IDM, Darkwave, Experimental, and Funk-Metal.

No, seriously. I can play bass and work with samples, and as soon as I find people to join me, I'm doing this.

Sludge-doom-goth-thrash-prog-death metal with a hint of psychedelia. And I'll invent it only to discover it was already done by a 15 year old stoner back in 1981, and it's currently enjoying a revival with a thriving music scene in Nova Scotia. And then I'll eat double-chocolate waffles to cope with the agony.

“Steam-prog”: 1970s progressive rock meets 1870s popular music, with some 1960s “sunshine pop” vocal harmonies thrown in there.

Possibly, I haven't listened to the entire album yet. I was thinking more along the lines of that mashup between E.S. Posthumus and Jay-Z.

On that note: I'd like to see someone fuse the complexity and song structures of prog with the rhythmic nature of hip-hop, most likely in some kind of instrumental form.

I guess DJ Shadow could technically count, but I'd like the prog part to be more obvious...

Madvillainy is one of my favorite hip-hop albums, so you could kinda say I know who they are.

I wasn't really thinking of them when that came to mind, I was thinking something more like "Yes + The Roots".
