To be fair, both this and Daimou are adaptations of ongoing series' (light novels in these cases I think?) It's quite possible they'll get a definite ending but that the anime never will.

That's technically true, but light novel production costs are minimal, so even with a minimal readership, the plot can be lengthened for several years, and the set up makes it very clear that the writer doesn't intend to pick a main girl until then.

So, in this episode we learn that maybe Germany has a Dark and Troubled Past. Also, more French fanservice, and Houki gets some screentime

Too bad we didn't see Laura's transformation...

And I think that transformation scene was them showing off to Ichika.

The only good part about this show is the hilariously homoerotic (yet still totally straight!) romance between Ichika and Charuru. Why in the world would you root for the other girls? This is a match made in heaven.

Also Laura apparently thinks she's in Freezing, and she's still not interesting.

It's not just Charles either: Ichika acts about ten times as more interested in her than in ny of the other girls.

[up] True dat. He's blushed more around Charles than any other girl. That changing-clothes scene was painfully forced, but hey, Fanservice must be given.

Anyway, all hail France!

Is it just me, or the ED always lines up the girls based on their lead in the episode?

Usually I stand for the Tsundere, and in the last war it was Blue, so now Japan it is.

I know this is anime, but... was it really a good choice to let Laura participate on the inter-clas tourneament? She sent two students to the infermary and would have done worse if it wasn't for the interference.

The whole point of the tournament is to show how powerful/skillful the pilots are and secure funding/cooperation from all around the world. It would be more surprising it they didn't let her participate.

[Fridge Logic and just bugs me]

What gets to me is the sudden change to team matches. I guess I can understand doing that, but to do it the day before the tournament? And have partners chosen by lots the day of? How do they expect to get good results when a number of the partners are working together for the first time? Not to mention the handicap pares in "generic" IS have when compared to the pairs that have personal third-generation IS. One-on-one that sort of disadvantage could be expected to be overcome with skill, but not when it is two-on-two and no/little time to coordinate and develop strategies.

One proper reason why the author / makers of IS made this a dual fight tournament, is because two on one is the only way of nullifying Laura's Annoying Incoming Canceller

That's what I postulate

I postulate its because the story is really badly written.

Personal Units should not be allowed in this competition.

Well, it could be said that IS championships are something like Formula 1, in that developing and maintenancing the best machine is also a part of the "sport", not just the pilot's personal ability.

Doesn't wash. Most of the girls will never even have the opportunity to have a Personal Machine. The very setting prevents it from happening.

Like I said, bad writing.

Maybe its better in the books, but I really don't care.

So, wait - It's bad writing that some of the characters have an advantage over others?

Sorry, that don't wash either.

...I've never heard the word "wash" use like this before...some sort of american expression?

And what's wrong with some characters having their personal units?

Say you are in a race. 90% of the people are using Ford Taurus', but 5 people get Dodge Vipers.

Get it now?
