I don't think a link to episode 6 has been posted, so here it is.

[up] And we know that there is still one more to go. I also noticed that whoever the "new" interest is, is the one right behind him. Makes me wonder how it will change once they have all been introduced/had their time in the lime-light.

Charles is so cute it hurts.

That said, I loved Houki's sparkle-eyes when declaring that KENDO MAKES YOU LOSE WEIGHT!

[up][up] Stereotypical girl problems? Pffffft. I HAVE KENDO

On another note, wow, just... wow. Now, I like the childhood friend tsunderes and all, but Charlotte is simply on a different level of cuteness. How are you supposed to resist that smile? And that woobieness? And that shyness? And her starting to rely on Ichika? Not to mention her awesomeness at piloting the IS.

Like someone said here, it's France's complete and utter victory. Even though Houki'll probably win. :3

Completely forgot about this series. I'll have to comment on 5 and 6 now...

Episode 5 (no spoilers since 6 is out now):

  • So we find Ichika has a friend, who of course believes Ichika's been having a good time being the only guy in a school of girls. Don't know what it make of him just yet, but he seems alright. He also seems to be more aware of female actions than Ichika.
    • Of course, he has a sister that has a crush on Ichika. Ho-hum.
  • "Thinking would be pointless." I don't know why that line stood out for me.
  • Hey it's the three schoolgirls from the first episode! I missed you guys.
  • Charles... I'll get to this character when I get to 6.
  • Holy crap why is the school flipping out and chasing Ichika and Charles? I felt like I was suddenly thrust into a Saturday morning cartoon.
  • The dressing room scene was hilarious. "That type of suit seems easier to wear" indeed.
  • Chiyufu's a sly one, using her students' (obvious) crush on Ichika to "inspire" motivation. I knew there was a reason I liked her.
  • Am I the only one that thinks that the characters mention their countries a little too much?
  • So it took 5 episodes before Yamada's overly large chest got a boob joke. Frankly, I'm impressed that it took this long, but at the same time, I was hoping that we would never see one involving her so that we'd get a sort of subversion.  * Incidentally, there's a just bugs me about the joke on the show's Bug page that more or less mirrors my initial reaction.
  • Carrying a girl=Serious Business. So much so that a particular carrying position is considered legendary.
  • Houki is particularly cute in this episode. I'm impressed.
    • Meanwhile, Ichika's too nice for his own good. I'm feeling sorry for the guy.
      • He's still an idiot though.
  • Laura from Germany (whom I'm going to be calling Bodewig due to her apparent military-esque motif) appears and now I'm wondering if Japan thinks Germans are always militaristic in nature.

Pretty good. The only thing that bugged me is the boob joke, but all in all, it was alright. I'll have to comment on 6 later (as well as on Charles).

So ummmm....are British food really that terrible? I only ever tried fish and chips and it was...just bland. But are they terrible?

And what was in that sandwich?

Its kind of a thing that goes around that British food is bad The Negima England chapters cover it too bottom middle panel

I do not know if its a Japanese thing or something that is more world wide.

British food is the envy of the civilised world.

Now shut the fuck up and enjoy your extra-greasy jellied eels.

Those were sandwiches. You don't really need any actual cooking skills when it comes to putting together a sandwich.

When you look at other Lethal Chef s in anime they have habits of going off recipe because "it will be better!" or adding cutting board to salads (ranma) detergent for flavoring oil (Nagi from Hayate No Gotoku) ect.

Yeah, bad cooking abilities in Anime lead to portals being opened to an Eldritch Location where the unholy finds a way into the world through the pot.

[up][up] Which is kinda weird since I thought Cecilia follows the cookbook to the letter. *shrug*

[up] Man, that sounds like an awesome plot. Whoever manages to do that is simultaneously the best and worst chef ever.

But as I said there seems to be something against British cooking in japan. (The negima example above and a couple of other animes that I cant remember the names off hand.)

Reposting what I posted back on page 4.

Safe Zone

1st - Houki/Charlotte - Looks great & delicious

3rd - Rin - Looks weird but delicious (Except for Chinese food in which she is on par with Houki)

Danger Zone

4th - Laura - Looks weird but somehow edible.

Kill Zone

5th - Cecilia - Looks exactly same as the picture from cookbook, but tastes like cookbook too.

Unknown

?th Ichika's position (Looks good, tastes good) would probably be slightly above Rin.

We're just missing the American for the harem to be complete, right? Maybe we'll start getting more plot and character development after she shows up.

Five bucks says an American haremette would be a blonde blue-eyed buxom beaut.

Now that I think of it, beyond Eternal September's post has this series been nicknamed "Country Wars" a la how Ichiban Ushiro No Daimaou was nicknamed "Color Wars"?

[up] That already sounds like Charles, except for the blue eyes (though Charles has very entrancing purple ones).

And yeah, I guess this can be called Country Wars. If not for the fact that France has already won.

British food is legendarily bad, it tends to be not "OH MY GOD THE HORROR!" bad, but just... Sort of bland and greasy.

EDIT: Might help that most people making jokes about british cooking are either french or people who have also eaten french food.

I think it's painfully obvious that no one is going to win, just as in Daimaou. So obvious, that I went already ahead and made a trope about harems where nobody wins, just so I could list IS as an example.

To be fair, both this and Daimou are adaptations of ongoing series' (light novels in these cases I think?) It's quite possible they'll get a definite ending but that the anime never will.
