Among other things, he was president of Amalgamated Bank Of Chicago, Midwest Chairman of J.P. Morgan Chase, and he sits on the board of directors of Boeing, and Merck & Co.
He oversaw the creation of NAFTA. He helped run Gore's disastrous 2000 presidential campaign. He once told the Wall Street Journal that he felt that there was no need for a consumer protection agency in the financial reform bill, since he felt that there were enough protections in place.

In short, he's not only a right-wing bank mogul who cannot be trusted with the power given to him, he's also incompetent.
He will be replacing Pete Rouse, who himself replaced Rahm Emanuel, another man known for his conservative bent.
