Bi The Way's Real Life section

First of all, I'm not sure if this should go here or in Trope Repair Shop.

Second of all... I'm not sure how I feel about the real life section in Bi The Way. There's a couple of problems I've observed with it.

First of all, it looks like there's some question over what constitutes "bisexual". I don't want to police anyone's identity: I'll say that up-front. I just don't know about the inclusion of examples of celebrities where some quotes from them seem to indicate that they don't identify as bisexual, or quotes that do not make it clear how they identify. Not to mention those who are theorized to be bisexual, when the situation isn't entirely clear (I'm not saying that they are or not; just that the situation is ambiguous).

Secondly, and I think more importantly, I just don't think the real life section is really necessary. It's essentially a list of bisexual celebrities, and that doesn't seem to really fit the spirit or the mission of the site. Especially when there's potential for confusion or controversy over it.

But, at the same time, I'm just legitimately unsure how to proceed. I don't know if this is something worth making any serious changes over. But I sincerely invite other opinions on this.

I agree that we don't need the real-life section.

Agreed. Wait for a mod to offer support first.

The real life section is both irrelevant and far too long. We don't need 65 examples of people who might or might not be bi.

I don't think the number had anything to do with why real life examples are bad. This is really an Aversion Trope. It only exists because stuff like Depraved Bisexual are so common in fiction. This is not the case in real life, so the trope does not exist in real life.

I'd also suggest that Depraved Bisexual shouldn't have a Real Life section either, as calling someone crazy is pretty subjective and Flame Bait (and thus Natter bait). The historical examples maybe could go under some sort of history section. The rest definitely need to go.

I'd say you could put someone Real Life on Depraved Bisexual, so long as the person in question has been convicted of violent crimes (especially sexual violence)

I'm feeling strangely happy now, contented and serene. Oh don't you see, finally I'll be, somewhere that's green...

Irrelevant. We don't care about the sexual depravity of real life people, and they have no value in illustrating the trope. Plus, it's potentially libelous. Not a good combination.
