It's for some MMO called Rift, obviously. I got an ad thing from Nvidia or something asking me to join in.
What they should have done was throw in a Team Fortress 2 hat.
Sigh.
One thing I didn't like was that they marketed games to the hardcore omgsobadass crowd, even back then. I didn't want Duke Nukem testosterone from my Final Fantasy VI experience, you idiots.
I don't remember street-brawler Kirby or bodybuilder Kirby being in Kirby's adventure...
It Just Bugs MeCreative liberties with Fighter Kirby.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaThis SEGA promo failed to sell me way back when
SEGA always had odd commercials, but weirdness couldn't save this one.
There's also an eight minute promotional version
. It is rumored that watching it in its entirety will make you less human.

^Oh god, I should count myself lucky then. Bet the retail workers loved hearing that on loop all day. I kinda liked the Turbo Graphix 16 demo though.
^^Segata commercials are awesome. My favorite is the one where he throws some guy over a cliff because he doesn't like Bomberman. The guy explodes, and then explodes again while Segata is already on the ground, walking away from the conflagration without looking behind him. How this stuff avoided becoming a huge meme I'll never know.
Here's a better Sega Saturn ad.
It's weird, but So Bad, It's Good.
When I was a kid, I always found commercials patronizing when they told me it would make me all rebellious and independent and stuff if I'd only beg my parents to buy their game/system. But this one is probably the strangest. The Butthole Surfers in a Nintendo commercial?
More likely than you think.
Hot Super Mario Brothers!
Again, not bad, but strange.

> my reaction to this, being someone who has no idea what the advertisement is about
Incidentally, this is as bad as, and possibly worse, than me looking at advertisements in engineering trade magazines for machine parts.
