I mean, yeah, those who have seen King Kong know he's not malicious, but the picture looks like he's lashing out at a plane. Maybe we could get a better image of him being docile.

Probably not. There's not really anything to distinguish him from every other giant ape.

You mean there's other giant apes that aren't Expies?

Uh, he's the very first example.

Or by "the list" do you mean the list of instantly recognizable characters?

The instantly recognizable characters. How often do you hear any giant monkey referred to as Kong as a Shout-Out?

Well, I guess he is recognizable, but as a big ape that wreaks havoc in New York, not a docile creature brought there against his own will. We need a better image to represent that.

I think Kong IS one of the Instantly Recognizable Characters, but for this trope, the image should show him in a more sympathetic light. I was thinking an image of him all chained up and getting pissed off by the flashbulbs might be better, though my Google-Fu is weak for finding that at the moment.

I think the 2005 version of him in chains would be better, since instead of trying to break free, you can see that he's all sad and depressed.

I have the movie on my computer; let me try to get a good image.

Though it could maybe do for a better caption.
