I think at the end of the next film, when M is debriefing Bond or whatever, a white cat should just stroll in and hop up onto Ralph Fiennes' lap. Bond goes "Who's this little fellow?", and Fiennes just strokes it, and says "A close friend" or something. And there's no ominous music, or anything, they just leave it for the audience to pick up on.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again. This is good news and all, but I suspect incorporating Blofeld into the new movie beyond a simple cameo or Continuity Nod might end up feeling a little tacked on, unless this has been going on for a while and we're only just now hearing about it for some reason.
Well, it doesn't have to be immediate, and if nothing else we've still got QUANTUM floating around.
Ya gotta have Blofeld. Old-universe Blofeld got dropped in a chimney like a discarded Spider-Man clone. If you can bring him back, totally do it.
And kalel, having M be the new Blofeld would be hard to pull off in a way that made sense, but AWESOME.

Don't you think a multi-national crime syndicate like SPECTRE's a little too... far-fetched for the new Bond? I mean, those sorts of groups went out with COBRA in the 80's, it'd be kind of regression to go from hackers to supercriminals.

I was thinking more like, "Auuugghhhh... Well done, Number Two.... Auuuugggghhh.... Auuggghhhh..." while all the other henchmen just kind of look on uncomfortably.
On a tangent, I love that in the "Voldy hugs Draco" video, it's pieced together so that all the bystanders look thoroughly disgusted by what's going on, especially Lucius Malfoy and Dean Thomas. Which is even funnier when you realize that those shots were taken from Neville's not-in-the-book "Harry is in our hearts" speech and Dean and Ron and Hermione are all just looking at him like, "dude, shut up, he's gonna kill us. Also, your speech sucks."

I actually always wondered why he never missed a shot or fell off of something he was balancing on, having had a vodka martini minutes before.
The huge argument of Skyfall is that the time of agencies and empires being the villains is behind us because now people can act independently. Running a counter spy operation no longer requires huge resources. Silva was just one guy with a plan.
This is actually something Quantum of Solace lead into in fact with QUANTUM having an agenda of causing agents to defect.
I think QUANTUM is by the admission of Skyfall, an outdated concept. Silva has proven that audiences much prefer villains of a more personal level.
And in my head Blofeild is crippled and dead at the bottom of a chimney stack. But killed by someone who as of last year was no longer called James Bond.
