I just got a new game called Alan Wake. Less then 20 bucks. At that price I was expecting it to be bad. But it's good. Great even. I guess my questions are:
1. If it's so good then why is it so cheep,
2. if it's this good how come I've never heard of it until now?
3. DEAR GOD WHY HASN'T EVERYONE PLAYED THIS GAME?
Because the devs wussed out and didn't make it available to the glorious PC master race. Well, that's the reason for me.
It's cheap because it's going to be released in an "episodic" format. Either that, or because it depreciated...
And if you haven't heard of it, you obviously pay absolutely zero attention to the media...
I haven't played the game, but I've heard it's good. Maybe I should...

I was pleasantly surprised at how well-written and fun the game was. Definitely an under-appreciated gem.
1) Discount? It's not like it came out yesterday or something...
2) You probably didn't follow Xbox 360 games news?
3) It's not on PC...I don't have X360...dunno about others...
I honestly would like to give it a go, if only they ever bother to port it for the PC. Yes, in quite a few games, prices drop as time goes by, even great games like Mass Effect 2.

I've played it. I'm not usually a survival horror person (despite me owning Metro 2033) but I liked it. Good game.
Yeah, I know how you feel. I wanted the game when it first came out, but my brother opted for a different game instead. It was a poor choice, indeed; Alan Wake is a pretty cool game, no matter which way you look at it. I like the setting and atmosphere, and Wake himself is a refreshing lead after a glut of space marines and soldiers.
Also, want a pro tip? Put the lime in the coconut.
I have the game, but no ability to buy the DLC. Damn.
Alan Wake is one of those games which were pretty damn sound but failed, for whatever reason, to make a serious impact.
That's what you get for building up a fanbase on one platform and then late in develpment make it an exclusive to another platform and use arguments like "some games are console gmes because they should be played while sitting in a sofa and looking at a TV screen"(not an exact quote) to justify it.
I just started playing it, I'm about to start the last chapter. I don't currently have any DLC-buying ability, so I'll probably just have to watch the important bits. By the way, did anyone else get killed in the warehouse of Episode 5 because of the song on the radio?
It honestly probably has to do with being on 360. It's mainly dominated by shooters, and while there is shooting in Alan Wake, it's definitely not a shooter game.
Also it's kinda weird how the writing is exactly like Max Payne, monologues at all.
Uh, it's not weird at all that the writing is so "Max Payne-esque", because it was made by the same people!
I presume he already knew that. Still, one would also presume that, dealing with a different plot with different characters, they'd try to differentiate it a bit more.
Oh yes, I know it's by Remedy, it's just the writing is so identifiable as the exact same kind of hard-boiled monologue from Max Payne that it almost feels like a horror mod for Max Payne, or one of Max's dream sequences as long as a full game.
Alan Wake finally coming to PC.
I just don't understand how did Remendy managed to convinced Microsoft, and why Microsoft let them self-publish the title through Steam...
Good to hear. Extremely under-appreciated game. I hope this'll do something to remind people that it's a thing.
It's about time. This was supposed to be a PC exclusive anyway.
MS not own Alan wake IP. it's remendy that own it. they can do what ever they want with it
The franchise is disappearing from Steam, and anywhere else for that matter, today. So if you want it, go buy it. Now. Music license expiry is what Remedy is blaming things on.
Good Old Games for one has it super cheap (<$4) DRM free.
If I hadn't picked it up in a Humble Bundle (Got it on Xbox originally), I would have gotten this one so I can play it again if I want to.
It's an excellent game and well worth the cost.
According to GOG, only the original Alan Wake is being removed. The standalone expansion, American Nightmare, will still stay up.
