Color In The Lineart Above You

This forum is so quiet, woe, but it's the only place I know of that I can go to talk about artsy stuff -sigh- . Let's see if we can start up a game =3 ? I want to color stuff!!

RULES

1. Scan or post lineart of your work (higher resolution preferred please, and/or make it big), and the next person to post will color it in.

2. Lineart can be of a character, creature, or anything else.

3. Clean, sharp lines and minimal/no shading or tones to make it easy on the colorist please.

4. If you just want to color, but don't post your own lineart for someone else to color in, we'll just skip over you.

5. Extraneous conversation is allowed and doesn't 'count' in the game as claiming or requesting (obviously) .

- - - - -

To try to avoid confusion, something like this (example conversation):

P1: Here's lineart of my x character I drew!

P2: I'll color it in. Here's my own drawing I did, anyone up for it?

P3: I can color that, but I don't draw myself. No lineart here.

P4: Here's a monster I drew. It's supposed to be green and red, but it doesn't have to be.

P2: Finished the color job P1, here it is. Hope you like.

P5: I'll claim your drawing, P4, I should be done in a week.

P1: That's awesome P2, thanks.

ETC..

I'll play. I've been dying to use my new Intuos4 while I still have the chance.

First lineart, fuck yeah!

Finished^

That was some fantastic lineart =D How on earth do you get them so nice and clean?

I'll post some line art for someone else later, but...well, it's not going to be as nice as that.

Flash.

Not bad on the colors. You didn't happen to use the fully colored version as a ref, did you? I only say this because they way the hair is colored is surprisingly similar.

Oh those are quite similar, but no I hadn't seen it. If I had I might've done something a bit more original =/

(More original than what I did, I mean. The slantyface is because I tried to color it it a non-obvious fashion to make it interesting for you, and what I got was almost exactly how you had already colored it.)

I don't have a tablet and only the barest hint of knowledge as to coloring so here's some lineart.

Lost the original, so yeah. That's about the largest I got.

I'll claim that! But oh wow, I printed it out and it's really pixelly. Sorry, but that might show even after I color it )= .

Here's a chibi that I drew sometime ago, for an RP character of mine. Pokemon fuck yeah! XD .

^ I'll claim that one. :D

Will edit this post later once I draw a new sketch, since I haven't got anything really suitable right now.

The inking is pretty bad—I don't have a lot of practice with that, since I usually just leave it in pencil—but I hope this is adequate.

Does anyone mind if I also claim one of the above two?

Not at all ^^ . I was also considering coloring yours in too, your lineart is so clean and dark =D .

Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention in my last post! Both Pokemon in the picture are shiny XD . They don't have to be if you've already started coloring them, but just thought I'd throw that out there.

Hope you like it. :D

I kind of failed at making them look shiny...

Also, I admit it took me like halfway through the coloring to realize she was wearing a hat. .___.

Oh. My. God. SO CUTE. I love it, thanks! ^___^ Actually, she's not wearing a hat, it's just a strange hairdo, but that's OK, it looks cool that way too =P ! I love the colors, they really pop, and they were some interesting choices.

I screwed up coloring Leradny's, so I've got to recolor it, eheh ^^; . I'm also working on Scrye's, and I did a quick practice coloring on Tumbril's (I was testing out my watercolor pencils, and it didn't go horribly wrong =D ) . I'll post later.

I made some linearts =D (I don't expect any one person would want to color all of that, just do whichever one(s) you want)

I'm afraid I've a sketchy style and, worse than that, a tendancy to cross-hatch everything, so this was pretty weird and not very clean, but probably good practice overall. The characters are Orson the Boy Robot (robot, not cyborg) and Damien the hired goon, villain protagonists (Damien moreso than Orson) in a fairly basic cyberpunk/post-apocolypse sci-fi setting, and I'd love some input on their character designs if anyone has any thoughts.

Notes on the art...um, just go crazy. Color however you like. In the full-body view of Orson, there's a length of rope going across his chest, from his belt loop to his shoulder (it's holding up his pants). Just felt like I should point that out because I'm not sure how clear the drawing is.

Oh, and the weird tree/clock/bird thing roughly center is the tatoo on Damien's left arm/shoulder/neck.

Since the inking was kind of rough, I tried a rough watercolor style. Hope you don't hate it, Tumbril.

Hey guys, while it's not a hard-and-fast rule or anything, if you post lineart to share, please try and color someone else's work too if you can! If you don't have the means (no scanner or digital coloring options), that's too bad, but even if you don't feel you're coloring is the best, this is a great place to share with others and practice!

Leradny, my brother is a starting artist too, and he doesn't frequent TV Tropes but he was interested in trying out coloring, so I let him color yours (after my first failed attempt ^^; ) . Here it is (though the color's all washed out because he colors lightly and my scanner apparently sucks D= ) . He used colored pencils for this.

Scrye, I used the same colored pencils to color in yours here! It was a joy to color, and I had fun experimenting with using the white of the paper on the jeans and other things. But... again, my scanner sucks so it doesn't look half as good here >_< . I saw your own colored-version of this and tried to do something different. The bold digital colors work better for your lineart than my color pencils though ^^; .

Tumbril, when I said 'quick practice' on your lineart, I really meant it ^^; . I accidentally printed a really small version of yours, so I decided to practice my watercolor pencils on it and just did whatever. I printed a larger version though, and I think I want to take more time coloring that in too. I love compositions with lots of characters. The colors are all washed out though, since watercolors are kind of light and I could only paint one layer... (print paper is not made for watercolors D= ) . Thanks again for coloring my pic!

I thiiink that's it... I don't have any lineart to post, so I won't claim anything for now. Maybe tomorrow or something =3 .

Ohhey, kingzeal's linart is unclaimed.

Or at least it was.

Until I claimed it just now. Prolly have it by later tonight, if my tablet doesn't freak out.

That looks fuckin' awesome, Ali. I really like the on-white shading you did for the hair and pants.

Here's another one if anyone wants to claim it. Similar style to the first one.

Unfortunately, the hi-res version got deleted. I'll post the colored version up afterward.

Wow, you actually got the color scheme exactly as I intended. (Purple and Black, respectively, are her colors.)

The netting on the legs is kind of unique, but I approve.

In all, thanks. I know that couldn't have been all that easy with my fail Photoshop cleaning skills.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it =3 . I'm a total newb to colors, period, and right now I'm trying to experiment with traditional pencil mediums (watercolor pencils, color pencils, pastel pencils eventually, etc.), so I want to try lots of new things.

The action guy rocks, and you are seriously an awesome artist! You've got some serious skill.

Hi guys =D . I've been playing with my COPIC markers this time, and I colored Scrye's ninja-dude and recolored a larger version of Tumbril's sketch. Looooads of fun. XD I don't use markers often though, so I'm kind of bleeding all over the place and I colored some parts weird.

Here's another Pokemon-themed chibi in the same style as the last one, Mitsu-chan~ =3 . Himitsu has dark skin and black hair and eyes. I have tons of other old lineart I found lying around, I might post them some other time.
