Why are there characters added in the list just because they have fangirls/ fanboys or that they are simply popular rather than getting their actions rationalized/whitewashed?

Wait, this trope hasn't had an Example Sectionectomy yet? I just sort of assumed. It seems like it would be one of the more obvious ones to hit.

Because, congrats, you just defined the trope. What are your actual problems with the definition/trope itself?

Shouldn't it should be under subjective banner?

It is tagged as YMMV. The fact that some fans worship a villain is indisputable, but the natter it always engenders is sufficient to pop it into YMMV territory.

Anything can me mutated into something attractive, and Evil Is Sexy I guess.

Plus, it's a subjective trope so anything's fair game.

Considering it's still an Audience Reaction Trope, shove it onto Trivia.

Isn't the trope about a villain being rationalized as better than he is due to popularity, not about a villain being popular?

Yes. Or more accurately, a villain being rationalized as good because they're hot.
