Double post:

In Keiv Moc with Raven, and met Patty again.

At some point, I'll take the so called old man (at this point, I'm older than he is) for a spin, and see what he's like for myself.

Also, for all my complaints about Rita, I gotta admit, her casually spraying him with Bug Spray got a chuckle out of me because it came out of nowhere.

It's a bleak day for a Tales fan when you realize your age is closer to Raven than Yuri.

Yeah. Yeah.

Edit: Keiv Moc done....except for a bunch of chests I can figure out how to reach. They're behind bushes and stuff and I'm not sure how to get to them. The boss gave me some trouble on my first run, but that's because I didn't restock on Orange Gels in my first trip. I restarted, went back, got some more (along with synthing some other Gels as well) and did much better even if it did take a while.

Also, met the first of those super monsters that travelling inn told me about. Kicked my butt when I tried to fight it right then and there. Clearly I gotta level up a bit before I take it on.

There are some bushes and rocks you won't be able to destroy until far later after upgrading your Sorcerers Ring a few times.

I figured as much.

Tried fighting that one bonus boss (Green Menace) again.

Wow. He nearly annihilated me. Definitely leaving that dude alone for a while.

Yeah, you'll want to leave that guy for later.

Well, as a certain youtuber says in his presentation video, 'I am as old as Mario' (the Mario franchise, since Mario is canonically 25. 'Yeah, the moustache makes him look older' says Miyamoto.)

That goes to show how fans that were there for the original release of Phantasia have grown. Wish your favorite franchise to be as long lasting as being able to say 'whoa, today I am the same age as Rowen'.

The scorpion boss' secret mission requires Raven to lay a booby trap next to it to break its tail: wait until it sticks the tail in the ground. Around the time of this dungeon you can get the Moon Selector to swap control of your in-battle guys. I think its only AFTER this boss?

I've had the option to get the moon selector for a while now, but have been lacking the materials for it.

Hopefully, I'll fix that soon.

Grune got added to Rays and boy she's a babe.

Hi there.

I know western Rays isn't supported anymore, but I will always support Grune as one of Tales' hottest babes. There in my top 3 along Lilith and Kohaku.

A couple things I found on Gamefaqs' forums:

• A guy asking whether to buy Xeno 2 or Berseria. It looks like the Xeno series really is the Tales' rival series. At least nowadays.
  • Opinions are divided between 'Xeno 2 has more content, better graphics and music' 'Berseria has the better battle system, chars and plot' and 'both are anime weaboo crap' (because of course...)
• A topic about 'favorite Tales game' on the SWITCH board of all places! Not only it didnt vanish into the board's old pages but its actually going strong.
  • Usual top picks are the holy trio of Symphonia, Abyss and Vesperia (hardly anyone dislikes them.) and bottom of the barrel are DOTNW, Legendia and Zesty. No one mentions the actual worst, Tempest. (Ah right, 'localized ones only'...)

So my questions: does it grind your gears that the Tales Series gets called 'anime weaboo crap'? Do you retort by calling other series 'gritty dudebro crap'?

Have playing newer games in the Tales Series ever shifterd you list of favorites?

Well it is the rule of the Western Tales fandom: If it wasn't released overseas,it doesn't exist.

That's a shame. Always sad when a voice actor dies.

On a different note, I finally made the Moon selector, so I can now switch in battle. I got Judith, I got Flynn and I got Overlimits Level 2 and I'm gonna give it a shot soon enough.

My biggest issue currently is not having enough space for all the skills I want. I never know which ones I should keep and which ones I shouldn't for the most part (though I figure the skills that require you to use certain button prompts are unnecessary if you aren't controlling that character, so I leave them disabled for most of my guys, but now that I can switch more freely, it feel like I should using those more).

Still, I feel like I'm mostly in a good place, except for when Yuri is fighting on his own and enemies just start whaling on him (you know what I mean, one guy attacks and stuns him, then just as that guy finishes, the next guy starts his attack, keeping Yuri or whoever I'm playing as stunned, and then they all do that, resulting in me being stun locked indefinitely). It's really annoying.

Edit: Also, I need to learn to start selling my armour. It'd probably help me get more money, and the game itself says it's ok to do. Still, I keep holding on for some reason.

Reminder: Skills cost nothing if they're on the weapon you've currently got equipped

Yeah. I know that much. even with that, I tend to find myself without enough room for everything.

Though it may be that I'm mistakenly activating skills I don't need even if they are on the weapon.

Not enough SP to activate all skills? Then activate only the useful ones! And some of the 'situational but nice' ones. But learn them ALL, because even if a skill seems stupid or costly, half its cost gets added to your available SP.

(If you equip a weapon that has an unequipped skill but you have enough SP to equip it the skill will STAY even after unequipping said weapon. It only happens in the out-of-battle Equip menu. Happens a lot to people asking 'why am I doing 1 damage?')

Yes, you can safely sell armor, since they don't teach skills (BUT, character specific accesories like Rita's scrolls or Karol's bags do!) As rule, don't sell materials either unless you are swimming in them.

For the gangbanging enemies... well, Freerun to get to their backs. Its just practice. But I don't think you are ever going to be in a 1 VS Many situation ever again... except in the arena.

Barbos is toast.

I planned on stopping after that and doing all the other stuff afterwards, but I chose to sleep first, and that caused the next story event to start.

Fortunately, after beating Barbos, I saved anyway, so I just turned it off for now. I'll pick up where I left off there, and take care of some other stuff before I watch Yuri go all punisher on Ragou.

Edit: Forgot to mention: I beat Barbos with my Burste Arte.

Take me back to when Genis learned Indignation and killed Pronyma with it all in the same battle.

I'm getting the impression Arise is only going to have those two as party members. I feel like we would have seen others by now.

I think it’s too early to assume that. This is only the second trailer? Third? And there’s been almost no information outside the trailers. There’s plenty of room for more.

Also, looks like Crestoria has a more standard turn-based thing going. Still can’t say whether I’m interested or not without knowing if it’s another gacha game. And...yeah, you’d think with a game focusing on “sins” or whatever, they’d want their Luke to reflect the part of the game where that’s actually thematically relevant. :/ Maybe they’ll get there?

Which is exactly what Versus did with Luke as well. Hence my ah shit here we go again still stands. I'm sick of that bastard now, BOTH of him.

Still on the fence on Arise. It looks a lot better than most Tales games have, which is good, but I'm still not going to commit to anything until I see the rest of the party. As is, the leads don't frankly grab my interest all that much.

Seems Namco blew their load on trailers for its other games... that or Arise is dangerously early in its development still?

Hah, if those two are the only party members while retaining the old LMB system Arise is gonna beat Tempest for lowest amount of total (5) and battle party members (3) Ya know, frikkin' Tales of Tempest.

What sin is original Luke? Anger? Pride?

Weird you didn't say to be sick of Kratos, Leon or Yuri... since they are a lot more pushed than Luke was and will ever be. Man, those latter two's alt costumes are everywhere.

I'm guessing Luke is pride but I couldn't give less of a shit, I've had to sit through his insufferable ass on way too many games going through the exact same bloody beats with his character.
