Common friken hollywood. Can't you see how big a cash cow Halo is? This is a fucking lump of gold staring you in the face and you won't sort through all that creative rights bs and just make the damn movie?

Fuckin hell.

It's not as big a cash cow as it was a couple of years ago. Super Mario Brothers was bigger, and look how that turned out. Plus, Uwe Boll isn't dead yet.

But soft! What rock through yonder window breaks? It is a brick! And Juliet is out cold.

Video game movies are terrible - at best, they're forgettable and mediocre. The medium does not translate well to movies.

You'll say that it's terribly when it's released anyway.

Wasn't Guillermo Del Toro doing this?

He said it was why he was holding off on doing H.P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness.

Would much rather have that than a video game movie :p

The Silent Hill movie was, if not great at least passable and entertaining.

The failure of the Halo movie to be produced led to District 9. If it means more movies like that one, I support the Development Hell of the Halo movie.

Just hand it over to Michael Bay?

[up][up][up]From what I've heard Del Toro says he's doing all kinds of stuff that he probably won't do.

Yeah if we get more things as wonderful as District 9 then I hope the Halo movie forever remains in development hell.

I actually wouldn't mind if Bay made it. A Halo movie sounds like something he could pull off.

[up]Call Of Duty would probably be more his thing.

Honestly, it's probably gonna get made, I'd rather it get made so we can move on.

It'll be made eventually, there's no doubt about that. Here's hoping it's directed by Neil Blomkamp and based off Halo: Reach  *

[up]Basing it more off the books would probably be a good idea actually...

As long as Master Chief wasn't the star of the movie, I'd be happy.

[up]Then obviously Paul Anderson should write and direct. Then all the characters from the games can be pointless throw away characters. Maybe Master Chief will get killed in a hilarious way in the second film that way.

Not saying that. Just saying that a movie with Master Chief as the star would be boring because MC can just do anything. There's no drama. If there is ever to be a Halo movie, have it be following the regular troops around in a new story set in the Halo universe. The Chief can still be involved, just not as the main star, or a walking Deus Ex. He's fine as a video game character but for a film character he's too two-dimensional.

[up]In the book for the first game they had multiple plots focusing on Master Chief, Keyes, An elite and grunt, and some guy that eventually gets eaten by the flood and assimilated.

But the movies probably gonna be all about Master Chieftongue

Well, I never read any of the Halo books. And if they did have MC as the main character, are they going to show him without his helmet? Though, I bet if they do, a million fanboys are going to scream out in hatred.

[up]Also revealed in the books, He's just a bald albino with blue eyes...that's about it...that's basically how all the spartans look, just think regular soldiers, but albino...

avatar: Completion I don't know. Video game movies are terrible - at best, they're forgettable and mediocre. The medium does not translate well to movies.

I'd disagree. I'd say the worst Video Game Movies are so not because their medium wasn't fit for the big screen, but because whoever made the movie added terrible/cliche/ridiculous elements or otherwise created a poor movie.

That is to say, that most video games aren't bad because video games inherently don't make good movies, but merely because those movies simply aren't good movies in the first place.

I often get annoyed when you have a video game with a storyline very easily adapted into at least a decent movie ruined because whoever's in charge of making the thing thought they had to make it something incredibly cliche instead of letting it stand on its own.
