Hello, fellow music tropers!

Ok, so... any ideas on hoe to combat music producer's creativity block that is related to depression?

It did... to some extent...

Now, my main question. How to use FL Studio to create song mashups, DJ Earworm or Madeon style?

(Meaning: Create a song mashup conisting of at least 5 songs.)

EDIT: FL Studio or Cubase. Or Reason 5

I don't think either of those people use FL Studio.

Making mashups with turntables (or emulators thereof) is easier, but requires a wholly different skill set.

Doublepost for good reason.

So, I am having one of my beats rapped over by this guy:

and the concept behind these short raps are explained in the video description

these Practice Makes Perfects (PM Ps) are just some bars over a relatively simple beat that are just for fun,

he's going to be rapping over an instrumental of mine called "Space Warriors".

So yeah, be on the lookout for that. I'll post the video here when he finishes it of course.

Anyone know a synth that can do this sort of pad?

The whole thing? My guesses (VST only)...

  • Any NI instrument, esp Massive
  • IL Harmor, but may require about two instances... depends...
  • IL Sytrus. Has 6 Operators, so you can layer sounds to your liking.
  • Alchemy

All I have for now. You can also search at KVR forums for paddy synths. Hope I helped

I like this pad.

Sytrus is what I usually use, but I never seem to get quite the right sound.

And it's Goldie, of course it sounds good.

Hmm... I use Sytrus and I just got Harmor, because both of them have custom editable envelopes and such. But have you tried automating the parameters, or do you want to use it in a patch?

Also, if you want to use NI, apart from expenses, some of them are also CPU hogs.

Massive is a HUGE FUCKING CPU HOG.

AND CRASHES. >:/

Oh, and some of my fave free VSTs:

First one here is amazing, simple too.

All the chiptunes stuff you'll ever need.

I use a Bitcrusher, but it's Tal Bitcrusher.

Some of my VS Ts are from Here.

Also, you can use Patcher if you have the latest version of FL Studio to create a pad using different VST/DX plugins, internal or external.

If you don't have Crystal yet, get it. It's a classic VST. Clunky and a CPU hog, but makes amazing sounds. If you're willing to spend a couple hours tweaking a single patch, you'll be rewarded.

I also love d16 plugs. I got all of their effects for the price of one (yay group buy) and am waiting until they release their next synth so that I can buy the Classic Boxes bundle. Drumazon is indispensable.

You program patterns on it and activate them starting with the second to lowest octave.

Upping an EP to the Bandcamp soon. For some insane reason I decided to call it NO Ü., which basically sums up the whole thing rather nicely.
