Why are you continuing to talk to me?

Started playing this. Got Tsubaki's ends(Both of them) just a while ago today.

Her route was kind of boring and anti-climatic. Heartwarming at times though, and the climax confrontation was pretty cool. But please tell me the other routes isn't like this. Half the time it was the two dating or more family talk.

Don't bother with Kanon and Mizuha's routes. None of the heroines except for Usami really matter. The story isn't about them. Just go straight for the true ending and if you want you can go back for Kanon and Mizuha after that. Oh, but both of their routes are even weaker than Tsubaki's.

Well, as long as I get more stuff like that chase scene, I'll go straight to her then. Usami's been constantly great whenever she appears on-screen.

Finished Haru's route, which essentially is the game.

First of all I would like to say. I WAS WRONG ALL ALONG. GONZOU-SAN, I SHOULD NEVER HAVE DOUBTED YOU. MY FATHER, FORGIVE ME. YOU ARE A MAN AMONG MEN, NEVER FALTERING IN YOUR IDEALS OR METHODOLOGY AS A GANGSTER, WHILE STILL TEACHING ME LIFE LESSONS THROUGH CRUELTY.

...

Okay that epilogue was some shit. But at the same time, it was a nice way to tie up G-Senjou no Maou as a series. Now I feel guilty for not having played through Kanon and Mizuha. That I'll have to get to now. Mad respect points for Kyousuke even more.

I have to say, despite having an inkling that Maou and Kyou are separate people, up until the reveal I just couldn't imagine it to be any other way. The writers did rather well in making sure we thought they were the same. They made it blatantly obvious who Maou was before the 'reveal', which really helped.

With that said, the reveal that Maou was Kyousuke's brother felt stupid, but I guess they justified that through backstory. It was pretty damn cool when we saw the perspective switches along with the personality switch from Kyousuke to Maou, but then it turns out the headaches had nothing to do with that, and in hindsight it feels pointless.

Eiichi was a bro. Always liked him since the moment he first showed his true self(Pretty early in), and I'm glad he's pretty much the same. Maybe I just like screwed up people though. Horibe(Gonzou's assistant) was also a bro by the end.

Ever since finishing Muv Luv Alternative, I've been stuck in a rut regarding playing V Ns. While I don't feel G-Senjou was quite as good, it was still quite fucking good. With compelling thriller moments, a well-developed main character, and a great heroine, it was a great ride. Oh and the opening song is just earsex, with those Rekka Katakiri vocals.

This game has been released on Steam, did all the companies in Japan decide to give the English market a try or something? I'm seeing a lot of V Ns coming out or being announced on Steam recently.

I need a new sig.

I'm gradually making my way through this, it's the first straight-up japanese VN I've ever played.

I have a walkthrough on hand, and I just got to the first branching point between arcs as specified in the walkthrough ('she's asking me for help'/'she's telling me to let it drop'). I'm intending to do all the arcs in order (Tsubaki, Kanon, Mizuha, Haru), but I'm wondering, should I also explore the bad endings for the first three arcs? Do they add anything worthwhile to the story?

I didn't read them.

Just so you know, the three non Usami heroine routes are pretty halfassed, so if you don't like them don't worry about it. The game is about Usami and the other three only seem to have routes because the writer had to add them in.

Just finished the game. That is to say, I did all the good endings plus Haru's ending, but not the bad endings.

This is the first real japanese VN I've ever played, so I don't really have anything to compare it to. Overall I thought the story was pretty good, although at times it felt like the romance jumped ahead too quickly (a girl is just being her normal self, and then suddenly five clicks later she's head-over-heels for Kyousuke). Also, it seemed strange at times that several characters with frequent speaking roles (Horibe, the psychiatrist, Hashimoto, etc, but not Ikuko or Hiroaki) never actually appeared on the screen, although this is probably a common thing in VNs. I agree with the general consensus that Tsubaki's ending was the strongest after Haru's. Haru was my favorite girl, although I also liked Yuki and Mizuha; Kanon struck me as the least likable girl. Kyousuke himself I also didn't find very likable, which made it a bit hard to sympathize with him. Eiichi was kind of annoying, but dynamic enough not to be boring. Gonzou was great, one of the most genuinely terrifying characters I've encountered in any media. The music was decent (well, it could hardly be bad in a game literally named after it) and the voice acting was mostly pretty good, especially for Haru, Yuki and Gonzou. I did find that the japanese-language dialogue was significantly more complicated than what I'm used to hearing in subbed anime.

The version I played was the old pirate version with the H-scenes intact. Those scenes struck me as a bit campy compared to the rest of the game, what with the weird noises (all fully voiced) that the girls were making. Often I just skipped through the noises if the subtitles didn't show any actual dialogue. Moreover, the emphasis on each girl bleeding during her first time (supposedly to 'prove her virginity') was kind of a turn-off for me, so I'm hoping that isn't standard practice in VNs.

And of course, sweater puppies.

I think I've read a sum total of one VN where a virgin neither bled or complained of agony during their first time. It's just something you get used to. I don't actually read H scenes anymore though.

Yeah. As a horny middle schooler I was glued to some of the first H-scenes I read but man... When you get older you realize how corny/unrealistic the dialogue and general writing is for like 99% of h-scenes in vn's. I really just can't read them anymore. Just skipping through and having the knowledge that Alice and Bob did indeed consummate a relationship is actually better honestly.
